For a friend as a gift for helping me out on fixing my wheel! It was the first warmest day of the season so far and riding felt totally like freedom!!
To a friend that grew very dear to me and with whom I could share some of our last moments of freedom... A great artist with a great heart.
‘‘ See you in the next life maybe ‘‘ A rainy day and a complete Smashing Pumpkin’s discography later... To replace the first one that was picked from my folio the first time I visited. That one could only be delivered to a new place after the last time I’ve visited. I was, back then, about to leave my own place. Maybe now, once again, but for good...
To my spiritual Godmother and her kids. I did give one before, but not personally representative. I had fun making them, as they were simple, but also very different.
« Krakozhia » As promised. Finally. First one of the year. But only a year too late to give it in person to whom I was supposed too...
Like a tornado in my life, at the exact same time last year, coming into my life as I was turning it completely inside-out... And left as fast...
Made in 2016, but only given to a friend during last year’s summer (2019), as present to take care of my fish (and at many other things for me that year) during... Well, ironically, my first real fishing trip in the North, as it was something I was meant to do with my father for almost ten years... Not only a trip, but a life experience about the ways of nature and how being ‘‘off-grid’‘ really means. An occasion as well to set sail and untie some ropes...
A punk fish in a punk place. (Where the atmosphere itself was electric...)
For my last week (or so) of vacation, before the return to school, I’ve decided to take it out of the city to my home town with my family. I wished to go earlier, but I had to care about my fish-tank during the big heat weave and almost couldn’t leave at the last minute because I had a problem with the former babysitter I had contacted. I had been disappointed by the bad timing I had again with Under Pressure festival last week, as I forgot they only start to work on Saturday and not before, as the event’s schedule advertised to start. I’ve found out, even though it’s been their 24th edition (one of the oldest around the world), that it is more a Hip-Hop culture festival rather than of graffiti, as they claim to be. I also think they could get the artists to get more known if they got out of the same street, like Mural did, thus also putting more art into old buildings. So, I’ve then decided to keep on producing stickers, since I’m more on a creative vibe, to fill my folio of a stash for next year, specially if it’s going to be my last one in Montreal. So, today, as I went to the Waterfall Parc, I’ve brought a sticker I specially made, about five years ago, but didn’t have time to put yet. There really isn’t any street art in this town, except for the Obey sticker I saw nearby, so I think it could stick around for a while ;) Definitely, it’s good to be home!!
Hi! It’s been a while... But I’ve been busy make a bunch of new sticker and tried new different style! It’s also on preparation for the upcoming graffiti festival, Under Pressure, organized by Fresh Paint gallery, that gonna take place next weekend on Ste-Catherine’s, here in Montreal. This festival have been going since the 90′s and will last four days, from Tuesday to Sunday. Hopefully, there will be a good weather! So, this is a picture of a sticker I didn’t had the time to finish previously before Mural, probably one of my biggest so far, but also inspired by the presence of my new roommate, that arrived this last 14th of June, a female Super Delta betta fish that I named Kila! She is really my little princess and also have a very curious and energetic personality... Kinda like me ;) The funny story behind my actual creations is that I didn’t knew at first I would develop a passion for the aquatic world and now my betta fish is my live model and inspiration :) Finally, it took me a while to publish anything for the first reason I mentioned up here, but also because I had a recent reflection that led me to take the decision that after my graduation, planned to be at the end of next spring, to move out of the city. So this might be my last summer posting along my art in the streets, since school is gonna take all my time and doing it during the winter is quite hard and not good to get noticed. From the things I’ll miss most here, I think, will be the street art, both photographing it and making it. But I will still keep on making stickers and, maybe, rely on other passionate people to send them, by mailing some, place them for me. I am also planning on opening to more web-galleries to put exclusively my pictures of other artists. So, these are still far away plans, but big and I’m already working on them. In the end, as long as my fingers can still hold (I came to have more pain in my fingers that is slowing me down sometimes), I will keep on this little creative hobby of mine, that is not only a way of sharing, but also meditative. So, until next time, happy art-fan fellows, enjoy the last of this summer! See you in the next post!
First mailing !! The reason behind is particularly special ; it happens that on the same day as my last post, After I got off the Center, I was planning on going to the art store nearby for a refill of colors I was starting to miss (from the first makers I ever got!) and I discovered there was a clearance sale for colors in a brand I was used to take (Sharpie), but at the same time, they recently started to hold another company (Posca), that has more colors and is of better quality but that could only be found in a store close to where I live. The price over there is much cheaper, but they unfortunately don’t hold as much colors and sizes and the company just launched new markers, such as metallic, neon and even with glitter!! It was too tempting not to take any and because they were as well perfectly appropriate for the style and subject I draw. So, since I knew I would end up having them all, instead of waiting, I decided to take all the shades!!! The big problem, of course, was my budget, that recently got affected, even if I had my discount card, but as the adventure brought me there, I was offered a gift to help me pay a part of them and as I unfortunately didn’t bring anymore stickers with me, I left that person my blog address and e-mail in case I miss-wrote it and promised I would send stickers by mail, which I of course did, and took the opportunity to try my new material! It was really a day full of surprises, as more came after - reminding me now to never go out again without my stickers and/or business cards and camera - , such as coming across the « Montreal en arts » exhibition on Ste-Catherine street, which I knew about, but didn’t remembered the dates! So now, I would add that if you ever get interested on receiving your own personalized fishies, just let me know! And I would also invite you to send me pictures of where you put them, so I could repost them here and so, my stickers could travel throughout the world!!
About a week ago, was held the annual pique-unique for the last opened day before the summer brake of the Listening Center where I’ve been volunteering to three years. There has been so many great changes around there and time flew without me realizing it. I became very close to the staff. The sad thing is that they lost in one year two great of their long-term members, but one new came that really helped out and that is why I decided to take that sticker I was about to go put in the street near the place to her, since she haven’t got one yet. I’ve found the bright colors matching the sports gear she always had and it was also a token of my gratitude for all the great gifts I have received over time, such as a sticker, pencil, magnet of the card and calendar, a water bottle, a tank-top and lastly a beautiful mug, all with my favorite color!! I hope I’ll be able to continue going there, even if only to visit, as my next semester at school will be full time and I already didn’t came much after working full time before, but I sure don’t wanna miss other chances. Again, like last year, I can say it’s the place where I’ve got most recognition and help back. Every work place in social work should be like this. And this is why I felt a bit sad when we all said our goodbyes for the next two months... <3
Last weekend, I went to what is now a tradition with me and a friend, the annual MURAL festival, happening in Montreal. It has been a year since I have touched my pencils, a very busy year, but that event helped me out starting again. Also, biking, longboarding or skating in town to get back in shape is another motivation, as to have something to spread out my art and not loose touch also with photography. My computer and things are more than a mess and I can’t guarantee myself to achieve the goal of making one sticker per day, so I think I may just accept that, but I am still not giving up! My goal isn’t to become famous, but remaining creative by doing something for me, and if it brighten someone’s day, it’s then just a plus Anyways, it was a beautiful day. I’ve got myself ready with a bunch of freshly made stickers the one before and I probably walked from 7 to 8 hours that day. The only bad thing now about that festival, gaining popularity after only six years, is that it already became a mainstream thing with a lucrative side for the rich people of the neighborhood where it’s taking place, being in the center of the city. There is now ‘‘VIP’‘ sections, tour, security that check your bags and it seems an excuse for many stores now to do side-walk sales... I even saw wheat-past and sticker activists selling their pieces at high price! To me, it’s completely disgracing the main purpose of what street art should be about : allowing anybody to see art for free. The second purposes are a social critic against aggressive publicity, sometimes an engaged message or just to embellish a neighborhood while fighting misplaced vandalism (such as tags over private property or stores or even other murals). I’ve also always been against a saying I’ve heard that ‘’Real artists are only those who earn money from their production and who gets knows’’, like making art just for pleasure wasn’t enough, even if I do understand we put a lot of money into our supplies... It is now clear that the city found another way to control the artists with a bait making them think they have freedom to do their thing, as they were hypocrites enough to create signs asking for people not to put stickers on the urban furniture, even if they don’t cover any signalization most of the time and tend to fade with nature after a few weeks. That is why I chose that form of artistic expression, as to also help myself getting detached for my art and OCD mechanism. The other reason is that it makes a good gift for people I like around me ;) So, that being said, I hope you are enjoying this post, if it’s your first time passing by here, or an old follower ;) Have a good summer time also !!
SURPRISE!
Went to MURAL festival today with a good friend! There wasn’t much new stuff on the main, but the time we had for our first outdoor activity of the season was worth it and the day was perfect! I didn’t pasted anything I had one me, but came across Monosourcil (Unibrow) making a mural, and since that artist also do stickers, I gave one of mine away :) On a continuum of my artistic evolution, I am more on my way now to start practicing music seriously, but still intent to create visual art. I’ll try to stay disciplined, but the good news is that I will be able to share a space with that friend I was with today and practice together to stay motivated and in September, I will be able to rent a free room at school! Isn’t it amazing? All also live closer, so that will help me save also time. So, until next time, be well and have a great summer !!
Yesterday was our recognition event of the volunteers. Being now involved for the last two years, I was proud to be there and one of the most ancient, but also because it is one of the rare times in my life where I felt people being grateful for my work. Being important in the life of others is so special and I couldn’t chose best a place to give my time for free. I’ve met countless great people and as a token of my own humble tribute, for the times I also needed support, I made specially themed cupcakes to fit with the seasonal concept and colors of our logo. At the end, we went on the streets to give our leftovers to some homeless people and one was so happy, that went to give a part of it to his friends in the subway station. What a great symbolic it was! * On a different topic, I cannot promise to remain steady in my publishing anymore, because of too many things happening and upcoming, but don't worry, they are for the best. I could publish easily my old art, but it wouldn't be a challenge to make efforts on creating new ones. I keep on emptying my stash to give stickers to people I come across, so I shouldn't stop completely. But by default, to keep this page alive, I should post some of my old stuff anyway. Otherwise, I may get lazy and barely keep alive some followers. That is also why I am showing you other things I do, even if not exactly street art, but things that matters to me and that I share with others. So, until next time, keep on doing what you love, as I will prepare myself for a new start, in a new place, I will also get to decorate again. Stay tuned ;)
This is another gift for a very special friend of mine.
We barely see each other because we live in different cities, but apparently, we were meant to cross cross paths after exactly one month from the last time (I know, I’m late again cause it happened on March 23nd) at an event we didn’t expected to plan together, but that turned out to be one of those best moments brought spontaneously. The thing is, she was there also to remind me to keep being strong, after going trough so much already, and today, something happened to mark the fact that I survived the last struggle I’ve been in. Nearly, but did. At a point nothing was really working out to go anywhere. Something unbelievably great happened. So, I am glad to say to you I’ll still be around doing art, maybe be able to do even more in the upcoming month and that night, I’m glad I had my folio on me, cause at midnight, precisely, it became her birthday and without knowing, I chose one of her favorite color to surprise her with :) Magic DO exist !
A little healthy walk on a sunny and warm afternoon.
A good moment to take a brake and a picture.
Done almost a year ago... Time flies! * It’s a chance I had my folio on me, as I felt like giving one to a friend for his hospitality, as I decided to visit a bit late. But also because we had a great time and it meant so much to me at that particular time. Art is meant to be exchanged. The more you give, the more you receive...
