“I’ll kill Harry for this,” she said angrily, trying to calm herself down between her sobs. It was strange how Draco was the one comforting her when he was the one who could’ve died just two days ago.

“Will you really?” Draco grinned.

“Yes, really,” she huffed, making his grin grew wider.

“As much as I would love to see that, we both know he might be our only chance at ending this… Besides, if you think about it, the marks Potter made look better than the other mark don’t they? At least this one made me look dashing” He looked down at her, tucking a stray hair behind her ear, smiling.

Hermione frowned, thinking of the mark branded on him earlier that year. “You never chose any of this… If only… if only Harry knew about you… about us, then he wouldn’t—”

“Stop,” Draco interrupted her. “And risk your safety if the Dark Lord and his followers found out?”

“I’m already a target anyway,” Hermione replied.

“I know what they could do, Granger… If they knew about this… about us… They’d… The things they’d do to you… I’d rather take a hundred more slices on my chest than have even a drop of your blood spilled because of me, Granger,” he said, hugging her even tighter.
