Aggressive: It’s not hard to hear of stories of Kiyokage following various members of the collective through the city streets and the lane like a bodyguard. The man’s aggressive posturing fit to keep would-be attackers at bay…

Hidden History:  Kiyokage doesn’t talk about his past, but it’s clear he’s hiding something. Those who dig might not like what they find, and the past always has a chance of catching up with him. Be it people from the steppes who might know his eerily similar twin sister from the Oronir, old Iriq tribe members who recognize him from when he ran away at 12, or old soldiers from the castrum he served in.

Councilman of the Council of the Dawn: A relatively new free company making it’s mark around Thanalan. Rumors of a new group starting up dedicated to pushing back dark magics and training people have started to spread around. Seems like he might know something about that.

Dark Knight: From the massive dragon-eyed blade on his back, it’s not hard to guess that the man might practice the forbidden dark arts of Ishgard.

Craftsman: Emblazoned with a dragon’s eye surrounded by a pair of xaela horns, Kiyokage’s personal brand of furniture and weaponry/armor has begun to make it’s way around local markets… but rumor has it he’s capable of making far more exotic wares than just simple chairs and tables and swords.

Style/Preference Notes

I am capable of all manner of rp. Multi-paragraph copy/paste sessions where the emotes climb ever skyward, down to short clipped quick social rp where paragraphs would be excessive. I tend to match the people I’m rping with, and what manner of scene we’re in.

Themes:  All. Kiyokage is a Lawful Evil knight through and through, always apt to put his boot to a neck if he feels someone is out of line. As an antagonist he’s often at odds with those who do not find some sympathy for the devil in his past or his actions, he walks the line quite well.

For some? He’s not more than a villain who needs to be put down, but for others - he’s misunderstood and does what needs to be done. Looking for a bad guy? Kiyo might step forward, if the prize is right. Looking for connections to the forbidden? Kiyo’s your guy. From adventure to slice of life, I do it all.

Looking For: Friends, rivals, lovers, anything in between. Kiyo’s social network could use some expanding. At some point I need to find someone to play his twin sister, but I’d prefer to find someone who’d be willing to put a lot of time into the character - and not just have her be a one off alt that might not ever be around.

Kiyo is looking to connect with black market salesmen who can facilitate his need for rare materials of a questionable nature (such as primal parts and forbidden tomes). He’s also looking very specifically for people who’d be interested in affiliating with the Council of the Dawn be they allies or new recruits. The council is seeking individuals dedicated to discovering the forbidden relics of the past and pushing back against those threats that would undo our world.

Occupation: Soldier (Centurio of the XIVth Legion in Mor Dhona)

Imperial Record: No major infractions, was close to earning citizenship as a ranking conscript until he went AWOL shortly before the defeat of Ultima Weapon. Relocated recently in Eorzea. Clean-up team dispatched. Confirmed headshot. Assumed dead.

As a commander of a small group of soldiers under the banner of the XIVth legion, Nergui was known as particularly ruthless. Soldiers who looted villages or abused captives were often times beaten within inches of their lives, or left publicly slain as warnings to the rest of his troops.

Several groups of Eorzeans were left scarred, barely escaping with their lives when his soldiers marched - burning buildings down with innocents still inside of them, and leaving people to die slowly rather than finishing them off. Because of this - there’s likely survivors of this dark man’s wrath who are want for revenge.

Prompt #7: Serendipitous

I don’t like to believe in fate because I think we all have an inner desire to be happy in life. It’s just that some of us get lost along the way.

We want what’s best for the world, for ourselves, for even the people around us - I truly believe that! I do. But sometimes we get a little lost along the way.

Up becomes down, down becomes up, we become twisted up inside, tripping over our own feelings and emotions and rationalizations until we do something dreadful and we realize that now... it’s too late. We’ve damaged what we had.

So I don’t like to believe in fate because I think we all have our set courses in life... but that we’re who set the courses. So we just need to be careful about where we’re headed.

If we do that? We’ll be okay.

Sometimes, if we do good by ourselves, we find a bit of luck along the way, and that? That’s how I found my current home. Just a bit of... happy fortune that lead me to a house full of people who are a lot like me - they don’t quite fit in anywhere else. A whole happy house of misfits.

Well, maybe not happy.

But I think we can work on that.

Prompt #6: Painful Love

Don’t get me wrong, love is a beautiful thing. It always will be. A unique experience that everyone craves like some kind of drug that everyone has but them, until they have it. They drive for it, they live for it... and then when they have it? They hate it.

Love is a dull ache in your chest, a constant reminder that everything you hold dear, you can lose. So you hold it all the tighter, all the more jealously against your chest until you smother it completely. You grip it so close, so desperately that you crush it. 

And then it’s gone.

You chase love all over again, wanting that feeling back, like an addict or an abuse victim that doesn’t realize that every time you get it the pain will return. You distract yourself with lies that the times are good, and that the good times make up for that familiar sense of dread that looms over you.

You know - one day - it’ll all be gone.

But maybe that’s why you tell yourselves the lies. I’ll love you forever. We’ll always be together. You can’t know that, you -know- you can’t know that, but yet...

...yet there the words are, sliding off your tongue ever so thoughtlessly.

Love is pain.

...and yet here I go... chasing after it again.

Prompt #5: Show of Hands

You learned not to be a part of the herd, unless the answer was really, really obvious in the Castrums. Outsiders. Savages. Others. To them you were filth and always would be, and when they got the opportunity to abuse you they would take it.

It always started the same. 

The person in charge would come out and gather up all the people they wanted to hurt, to hit, to... take some bad day out on, and they would ask them questions. How many people wanted to eat more rations? How many were thirsty? Who had complaints? Who needed new clothes? And bit by bit... sometimes people would break, and ask. 

A show of hands, who agrees with the conscript here? Who -else- wants water? Food? Basic necessities? Sometimes they even brought them out - showed it to you... and people got desperate. Hands would go up in the air and people would be lead away... and we would all be told how unlucky we were for staying silent.

But we knew. Because some of them didn’t come back. Some of them came back nearly dead. We knew what happened when you asked for things you weren’t forcibly given by the higher ups because you’d die otherwise.

If you don’t believe me, my back tells the truth. Every whipping I got when I raised my hand. Every last desperate hope beaten out of me until survival took over. Until finally I didn’t raise my hand anymore.

It was always much worse... when nobody raised their hands.

Eventually it was my turn. I was the one that walked out on the stage, blackened armor hiding my form as my voice rang out over the crowd.

“...who here... is -hungry-?”

Prompt #4: Saving Time

You can’t.

Are you still reading this? I already told you. You can’t. Go away. Quit asking stupid questions.

You’re really pushing this aren’t you.

Look, this is how it is. The world? It’s a shitty place. It keeps spinning, lives keep moving, time keeps tick tick ticking, and every moment you waste, sitting here, not -living- is a moment you waste. I’m not going to be soft about it kiddo, you’re being real dumb right now.

Saving time. Only place time stops is in the past, and if you keep living there? You’re just wasting your future. LIVE. Embrace it all. Change. Good. Bad. Happiness, sadness, love, hate, tragedy, comedy, misery, all of it. Every last one. 

You want to be alive? THEN BE ALIVE! Quit. Holding. Back. Relish in all of it because you -are- living. The bad moments are what give the best moments their -height!- Stop. Being. Ashamed. Of being sad. Relish the opportunity to be sorrowful. WEEP. Embrace it all! Don’t think about what others think or feel, because they feel all the same emotions.

If they mock you for it? That’s on them.

Embrace every moment, and LIVE!

Prompt #3: Adytum

Have you ever felt... the inevitable? Not many people can say they have nor can they even really -truly- grasp the concept of it. The idea that no matter where you go, where you’ve turned, no action you take or plan you make... no armor no shield, no -army- in the world can protect you from it.

When you feel it, it’s... reeling. Your entire body, nay your entire -soul- revolts in that utter moment of concept of infinite - the idea that no matter what you do the end result is utterly determined.

Inevitable.

This eldritch thing reached out and touched my mind and I knew - I knew what was inevitable for me. For all my kin. For all of us. I knew what was coming and no longer were my safe spaces safe, no. They were dangerous. Everything was. Because what I knew was inevitable.

Every last cloister of security I had was gone, and I knew my time was short. I knew... I could feel it crawling on my skin. I could feel that gaze upon my very soul, that every second I wasted was just another ticked down, thrown away, worthless.

So I no longer had any comforts left to me in this world.

It’s funny, you know. Funny how even though we know something is inevitable... we fight. We struggle. Every day I feel a little less myself. Cursed with this knowledge of inevitability. I want to leave something behind, research, a cause, something to prepare them better for the -inevitable-.

But I can’t. I can’t I can’t I can’t I can’t I can’t I can’t I can’t. Every day my thoughts are a little bit less my own. A little bit less straight forward. Like watching a fog roll in consuming the water until nothing is left but a blank slate... and you don’t know where you are or what’s going on.

...

But something changed that. If only, for a brief moment. I saw her there, walking alone. 

And my mind cleared, for just a second.

An sanctum of white, cold, distance. 

Did my head really clear?

...or did the inevitability of it all just finally break me?

...maybe I am the anglerfish... a lure... drawing another to their inevitable doom. Or maybe the twelve have finally given me my final, last comfort in this world... moments of brief clarity before I am finally, fully, gone.

Prompt #2: Silenced

It had been days of scorching heat in that desert, and in the cage there was no shade - no shelter - no relief from the hot sun. She wanted to scream at the men who kept her locked up, to fight, to do -something- as they marched out into the wastes with her; but her throat was too dry, too tight with thirst, too torn to do any more screaming... and her face ached where she was struck the last time she yelled at them.

Out in those shifting wastes the nunh turned and looked at her one last time, spitting as he walked over to her cage and opened it’s door to drag her out before he threw her against a nearby stone pillar.

Somewhere she could hear the sounds of chains.

“Last chance.” he said with a coy smirk, “All you have to do... is be -mine-, and you get to go home. To see your sister... to join her. You’ll be cared for. Why do you fight it?” he opened his hands to the sides, as other miqo’te men walked over to shackle her to the pillar.

They knew her answer.

She tried to spit at him, but no saliva coated her tongue... but the gesture was answer enough. A man stuffed a cloth in her mouth, tying it behind her head to silence her so she couldn’t scream for help.

“...well then. I suppose you’re best forgotten then aren’t you?”

She barely saw his hand move as he drew forth his dagger and plunged it deep into her abdomen... dragging it to the side.

“If you won’t have my kids... you won’t need this.”

He dropped the dagger in the sands by her before he turned to walk away, his final words ringing in her ear: “If you’re smart, you’ll use the dagger on yourself when you’re free.”

Prompt #1: Submerged

He didn’t know where he was anymore. Who he was. How had he gotten here? His head spun, ached, and throbbed with a pain unlike any he had ever felt, his body screaming at him to stop as he sat upright. There was no beginning. No end. No in between. He simply... -was-, here... submerged in this darkness around him.

When he finally opened his eyes he looked around at the rain soaked ground he had laid upon, his head reeling - vision swimming with the pain he felt as he slowly stood back up in a way that none of the corpses around him ever would again.

Had he killed these men?

No. They were burned, crushed, dead in a hundred other ways that he was almost certain that he never could have managed... and they littered the ground as far as he could see. Fires burned. The sky still wept silent dark tears of night down upon the fading battlefield.

He could hear the staggered gasp utter from his own lips as he looked down towards the battlefield proper, his garlean helmet giving it an artificial sound.

All that filled the pit... were shattered bodies... and an equally shattered moon almost a mile away.

Prompt #6: Poetry

The way his chest rose and fell as he slept. The curve of his tail as it twitched beneath the sheets. The soft way his lips would part as he inhaled and exhaled with every breath that signified slumber. For a man like Kiyo, sleep was hard to come by. Restful sleep even moreso. Sometimes, such as tonight, Namine was fortunate enough to witness a blessed moment of rest.

She stared. Unabashedly.

There was a difference between the nightmares the couple had. Kiyo’s usually had him waking up with a jolt, even making a lot of noise that awoke her. When Namine had a nightmare it was usually with a jolt that didn’t always stir Kiyo when he slept besides her.

On nights that it didn’t, she was gifted the pleasure of watching him. Even reaching over to smooth back his hair or brush her thumb across his scales.

There was a certain poetry in how he slept. How the scars his flesh bore told stories of battle and strife that clashed against the peaceful visage sleep imparted on all who succumbed to its call. Or how his eyes would glow when he’d awaken, only to pull her close and let them close once again.

That was probably her favorite part - when he’d pull her close.

Council of the Dawn is Recruiting!

The Council is a group dedicated to creating a flowing, intricate, organic roleplay experience focused on long term storytelling and character growth. Devised of three individual sub-groups that work against the dark forces threatening Hydaelyn and Her people, we have a place for just about any character archetype that fits the ideologies of the Council and the Path that it’s members walk.

The Legion: Our combatant branch is dedicated to those who fight primarily with weapons or fists. Organized as a strict knighthood dedicated to eradicating threats to the world at any cost.

Kiyokage - Lawful Evil

Lawful Evil- A lawful evil villain methodically takes what he wants within the limits of his code of conduct without regard for whom it hurts. He cares about tradition, loyalty, and order but not about freedom, dignity, or life. He plays by the rules but without mercy or compassion. He is comfortable in a hierarchy and would like to rule, but is willing to serve. He condemns others not according to their actions but according to race, religion, homeland, or social rank. He is loath to break laws or promises. This reluctance comes partly from his nature and partly because he depends on order to protect himself from those who oppose him on moral grounds. Some lawful evil villains have particular taboos, such as not killing in cold blood (but having underlings do it) or not letting children come to harm (if it can be helped). They imagine that these compunctions put them above unprincipled villains. Some lawful evil people and creatures commit themselves to evil with a zeal like that of a crusader committed to good. What’s some trauma you have, and how did you get it?

The towering dark haired xaela leaned forward from his shadowed chair, the ice in his old fashioned whiskey glass clinking as he set it on the worn dark oak of his desk. For a moment, he didn’t seem like he was going to answer. Red limbral rings shining through that masking darkness with a look that was unmistakably contempt on his face as he sifted through some unpleasant memories in recognition of the question.

Finally he leaned back. “The mind is a funny thing.” he started, his voice a low growl. “No matter how many times we convince ourselves that something cannot be helped, or that we were innocent, or that whatever it remembers did not matter… no matter how much absolution the spoken mind seeks… it is never enough.” his words came to a slow drawl, before picking up. 

“-No-, it is never enough. We have to relive these torments over and over and over, night after night, making us see the sins of our pasts. To hell with religious documents, to hell with the preachers, they know what the condition of life is, and they know where the true demons lie and it isn’t in some metaphorical non-existent after-life… no. It’s here.” he tapped the side of his head. “…our demons live with us because we birth them, and they latch to us forever, like… suckling children… like bloated leeches, fat and drunk on our suffering.”

He let out an exasperated sigh as he relaxed in his chair from his tirade, his words slowing, to a quiet stop for a long moment. The logs in the fireplace crackled briefly, drawing his attention to the flames which illuminated his face, however slightly from across the room in that dark corner he hid himself in. He picked up his whiskey glass. There was a slight shake to his hand as he took a drink and returned it to it’s proper place, now empty.

“War is hell is an understatement. There are nights where I’m reminded that the very people I try to help now, are the same ones that years before I mercilessly slaughtered as savages.

There are nights where all I can see. All I can -see- is that damn moon falling down on people I knew and those I loathed… killing indiscriminately. I wake up… sweating, -screaming-, bellowing in the night dark because my ears still ring with the roar of that cursed dragon that was trapped inside.

And then there are nights where I see nothing but myself.”

“…those are the worst nights at all, because I can see the smile on my face as I burn them. As I order them killed. I can see how I enjoyed it…

…and I know, deep down inside… I still would.”
