It would be REALLY FUCKIN GREAT if white people, SPECIFICALLY WHITE PEOPLE, would call out colorism and whitewashing within fandom.

When you leave it just to poc, not only are we having to look at things that actively harm us, but we’re having to waste time and energy on educating people.

But not only that, every single time we call it out, and I mean EVERY time, we also have to deal with racists coming out of the woodwork and harassing us for us calling it out, even months or years later on this garbage hellsite.

What can you do as a white person?

• educate YOURSELF • educate fellow white people • call colorism out when you see it • when you see a poc trying to call it out, support them. Maybe message them to see if they’re okay, and definitely join in in the callout publicly to show that racism isn’t acceptable. (Just don’t talk over poc) • QUIT SUPPORTING ARTISTS THAT WHITEWASH. Don’t give the artists your uncritical reblogs. Don’t just reblog with commentary in the tags. That doesn’t help. Call it out or don’t reblog. Simple as that. • if you see people harassing poc for calling colorism out, defend them. Maybe send the person nice stuff to cheer them up. I know it always lessens the burden for me when friends tag me in or message me cute stuff, even if they don’t have the ability to get into the fight. Support poc. And perhaps most importantly:

Quit ignoring posts like these where poc ask you to be a better ally.

If Percy had fallen into Tartarus on his own headcannon

Okay so basically I saw this thing on Instagram and it was a screenshot of a tumblr post about how Percy would have turned out if he fell to Tartarus on his own.  here’s my little addition to it. The initial post will be at the end (i suggest reading it first)

imagine everyone at CHB and CJ fearing Percy, even though they still respect him a little something has changed drastically and the campers don’t know what to do.  After a few months the older kids from CHB starting to think he’ll be a repeat of Luke but worse. All the older kids quietly discussing things from the past and how they’re worried for everyone’s safety when a younger kid/ someone from Camp Jupiter hears them and starts to ask questions. They all look at the table in shame and fear as they vaguely explain to them what happened which only instills more fear. None of them know but one of the seven overhears them and loses it (I feel like it would be Nico or Annabeth) on them because “Percy isn’t like Luke” and “he’s been through so much more than anyone will ever be able to imagine.” 

Unfortunately that doesn’t keep people from whispering when no who supports Percy is around to hear. They still talk and there’s nothing anyone can do because whenever the seven try to figure out who started the rumors the other campers cover for each other. 

Chiron tries his hardest to get through to Percy and to help him but every attempt moves Percy farther away. Percy can’t even think about his time in Tartarus without having to sit down away from people to calm down. So Chiron just settles for the tiniest snippets that he gets sometimes (most of the time its just a change in body language or Percy mumbling something when he’s not paying attention) and stays behind Percy like a wall to protect him from the cruelty of the campers and any of the gods that question him.

broke: Percy and Annabeth move to New Rome and go to college and “retire” there.

woke: Percy “look at what they did to my city” Jackson and Annabeth “CHB is my home” Chase would never leave New York. Momma’s boy would not dare move to the other side of the country away from his family. Annabeth would not stop designing mount Olympus, her literal dream job, to go to New Rome. PJO did not establish chb/New York as percy and annabeth’s home just to have them so easily leave it in the next series.

bespoke: Percy and Annabeth do not leave New York. Eventually, Annabeth designs the “New Rome” equivalent* to CHB. This is the clear and obvious natural progression if following the pjo characterizations of percy and annabeth. It satisfies Annabeth’s desire to build something permanent. Also, by helping to establish a sanctuary for demigods to live safely, it satisfies Percy’s promise to Luke to change the lives of demigods for the better. Percy and Annabeth would never “retire” from what they perceived as their responsibilities to their camp and would pave the way to a better future for demigods.

*It does not function off of a child military.
