Healing for me is being able to sit next to the butcher and say, ‘Yes, I’m sitting next to the butcher now,’ instead of saying There is no butcher.

My physical body has been divided from my spiritual body, divided from my emotional and my mental, because they’re all warring in there. I’m just a little warring faction when I walk around, like Waterloo is happening in my kidneys!”

Go to his webpage to read a cute little story about photographing Tori back in 94.

There exists such a thing as boasting about misery. One sentence in ‘Cruel’ deals with that: ‘Dance with the Sufis celebrate your top ten in the charts of pain’. When I had a miscarriage, there were people who said: ‘Yes, but you only lost an unborn child. Our son was murdered!’ For some people things aren’t bad enough as it is. And some hang on to the fact that The Most Terrible Thing happened to them: they entered at #1 in the charts of pain. And then others are secretly jealous because they’re only at #6.

Could watch her allllllllllll day.
This is the photo that brought a nation of alternative music CD buying conservatives to their knees. Essentially Tori’s version of a Christmas card to her Methodist pastor father, it’s very possible this one photo got more press notice than Boys For Pele as an album.
I mean, just LOOK at this shit. It STILL rages on. And I’m sure it shall again now that the photo’s all up in your tumblr feed. Regardless, the pig picture continues to make Boys For Pele's point known: it's a fiercely unique record about the power of the feminine, in every sense of the word.
Probably one of the most controversial pictures ever. Someone tried to sue her over having a car accident upon seeing this on a billboard :') bahahaha
I want to really pass on a sense of value. How to show that you value other people in your life. How to value yourself. Sometimes it gets very discombobulated, this idea of valuing yourself. Going out and spending, spending, on yourself can sometimes be undervaluing yourself. Because you are trying to fill up an empty space with what? With just stuff. We’ve all been there. You can’t buy a sense of value. Sometimes just being able to limit ourselves, having limits I find gives myself immense freedom. You can’t always meet someone else’s needs with one more toy or one more piece of candy. Sometimes it’s about, “No. That’s enough.” We never know when to stop eating or spending or showing our bits and pieces. We never know when to stop calling.
