Lac is native to India and was first used as a cosmetic. Then later it began being used to dye fabrics to a pink and red.

Marigolds are a flower commonly found in North America and produce a bright yellow to a deep orange/gold color depending on what color of flower and what parts of the flower are used.

Madder dye is used by extracting the dye from the Madder root. This dye is a bright red-pink color and has even been said to be found on the linen of King Tut!

LOTUS DYE INFO:

LAC - 2% Light, 7% Medium, 11% Dark. The dark ended up spilling into the medium so both were dark. The total weight of these samples were 40g.

Marigold over-dyed in Madder- 3% of Marigolds and 6% Madder for each sample. First one was dyed with only marigold petals, the other was with the whole flower head. 10 minutes in the pot then one sample from each was left overnight. Each sample was 5g so 20 grams total for this sample.
