My first spin of the Tour de Fleece! Some lovely dark Polwarth I chain plied. I must say I didn't intend to spin it quite so densely but I guess my hands must be unintentionally set to 'spin weaving yarn' setting. It is interesting how a spinners default yarn evolves over time because when I first started spinning on a wheel (as opposed to a drop spindle) my yarn was much softer spun. I think it has something to do with my hands' distance from the orifice, closer letting less time for twist to build up.

Clearing out my bobbins before Tour de Fleece was the motivation I needed to finish some spins that had been sitting around for a while.

First (the red and green) is some blended batts all spun up from a group fiber blending activity. Next (blue and white) is my first time making rolags on a blending board (and deciding it wasn't really for me, hence the small sample). Next we got The Red (merino), with and without inclusions of some other scraps of colour. Finally is a lovely purple merino/silk I got as a birthday present. I plied most of it with BFL (see my previous post) but had a little left over I ended up plying on itself.

Some yarn I forgor to show. We got natural brown alpaca I processed from raw fleece (I think this may have been some of the first yarn I spun after graduating from drop spindle to spinning wheel) and some dyed alpaca I bought as roving while back. Aaand finally some purple merino/silk blend plied with BFL.

A little sample of Romney wool from a breed study. Romney is an English long-wool breed. It is fairly course and sturdy compared to the finer wools I prefer working with, but I quite enjoy the natural silvery colour.

A little drawstring bag i made with two orphaned granny squares from an abandoned project. One of my many spare pillow cases was sacrificed for the lining. Very improvised but im happy with how it turned out :3
