Sims Crafters is having a community lot building contest
Well, maybe more of a friendly "lets do this together" type event is more accurate. Generally here are the important parts.
Join Sims Crafters if you haven't already.
The build is occurring between September 1 and September 21, 2024.
The goal is to produce functional (in some way) community lots that are common in real life but not normally build or supplied items for in game. Think out of the box. Gas stations, photography studios, banks, pharmacies, doctor's office, etc. Also keep it as cc free as possible. Shoot for no more than ten types of cc. Yes, odd wording but that means if you want to use the torrox build set as a whole, you can do that. custom recolors of a certain object, go wild, etc. The goal is to use your creativity and imagination and share ideas with others.
This is for Sims 2. Please check in for a contestant host or contestant role if you haven't got one already.

Elva and Gwen arrived in Swansdale with high hopes and dreams of a fresh start. As they settled into their cozy caravan, surrounded by pots of lush green plants adorning the exterior, they couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement tinged with nervousness about the unknown adventure ahead.
"This place has so much potential, Gwen," Elva remarked, her voice tinged with optimism as she surveyed their new surroundings.
Gwen nodded in agreement, her eyes shining with determination. "Absolutely, Elva. We'll make this work, just you wait and see."
But their optimism was soon dampened when both Elva and Gwen came down with a nasty case of the flu. As they lay in bed, feverish and exhausted, their plans for starting businesses and making a name for themselves in Swansdale seemed like a distant dream.
Despite their illness, Gwen refused to let their setbacks hold her back. With determination and perseverance, she pushed forward with her plans to open the JumpJoy Fitness Park. She spent hours designing workout routines and setting up trampolines in their backyard, determined to create a space where people could come together to exercise and have fun.
Meanwhile, Elva found herself at a loss for what to do with her time while they waited to save up enough money for her to start her own business. She spent her days tending to their plants and reading books, feeling restless and unfulfilled.
As they navigated the challenges of starting their businesses, tensions began to simmer between Elva and Cayson, their neighbor who lived in the caravan next door. Their personalities clashed, and they found themselves constantly at odds with each other.
"You need to learn to mind your own business, Elva," Cayson snapped one day, unable to contain his frustration with her constant presence.
Elva bristled at his words, her own temper flaring. "Maybe if you were a little less grumpy, Cayson, people might actually want to be around you."
Meanwhile, tensions also arose between Gwen and Norene, a fellow business owner in Swansdale who seemed determined to undermine Gwen at every turn.
"You may think you're all that with your fancy fitness park, Gwen, but mark my words, I'll be the one who comes out on top in the end," Norene sneered, her eyes flashing with contempt.
Gwen gritted her teeth, refusing to let Norene's words get to her. She was determined to succeed, no matter what obstacles stood in her way.
As Elva and Gwen struggled to make their dreams a reality in the face of illness, financial setbacks, and interpersonal conflicts, they found solace in each other's company. Together, they would weather the storm and emerge stronger than ever, ready to conquer whatever challenges Swansdale threw their way.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting hues of orange and pink across the sky, Nathaniel and Jarod stood outside their newly renovated camper, surveying their humble abode with a mixture of excitement and anticipation. After graduating from university, the duo had decided to embark on a new adventure in the charming town of Swansdale, seeking a simpler and more sustainable way of life.
"Can you believe we're finally here, Nathaniel?" Jarod exclaimed, a wide grin spreading across his face as he admired their handiwork.
Nathaniel nodded, a sense of contentment washing over him. "It's been quite the journey, hasn't it? But I have a feeling this is just the beginning."
With the camper now their home base, Nathaniel wasted no time in bringing his vision to life. Armed with a passion for sustainability and a desire to make a difference, he set out to establish his own business, which he aptly named EcoHarmony Consultancy. The business aimed to provide eco-friendly solutions and promote sustainable practices within the community of Swansdale.
Meanwhile, Jarod delved into the world of politics, securing a position as a campaign worker. His outgoing nature and natural charisma made him a hit among the townsfolk, and he relished the opportunity to connect with his constituents and make positive changes in their lives.
However, as months passed, Jarod's political career hit a snag. Budget cuts and bureaucratic red tape made it increasingly difficult for him to enact the changes he had promised during his campaign. Frustration mounted as he struggled to navigate the complexities of local government, and soon enough, he found himself at odds with his colleagues.
"I thought politics was supposed to be about helping people, not endless meetings and paperwork," Jarod grumbled one evening, slumping into a chair at the kitchen table.
Nathaniel, ever the voice of reason, placed a comforting hand on his friend's shoulder. "I know it's tough, Jarod. But remember why you got into this in the first place. You have the opportunity to make a difference, even if it's not always easy."

Swansdale is a Sims 2 Build-a-City-Challenge using ChatGPT to write the story. New technologies fascinate me and I want to explore what AI can offer in terms of storytelling and generating new ideas. For the last year I’ve been reading up on creativity, how we define it, how you can nurture it and whether it is something you can learn. In telling the story of Swansdale I hope to explore the strengths and weaknesses of using AI, discover how I can make the most of ChatGPT and come to an understanding of where it falls short and what is left of human creativity when AI takes over.
The basic story of Swansdale has been written by me. I’ve created a background story for 8 founders, including their names, aspirations and reasons for moving to Swansdale. I’ve fed this story into ChatGPT as a starting point. In my posts, everything that is in italics is coming straight from ChatGPT, regular text is written by me.

Hi, thanks for your message. Unfortunately, I don't take requests. It's not that I don't like the idea, but I'm very much a 'mood'-creator, which to me means that I only create things I feel inspired by and am in the mood for creating. So I may or may not at some point feel the need to have tools in my game, but right now the inspiration for hardware stuff stopped after paint and wallpaper deco. Maybe you could post your request over in the Wishing Tree at GOS and some other creator might take it on. Happy simming!
The whole business of turning OSMPs invisible and then having to find them again in buy mode always puts me off from using them. Thanks to Lamare's tutorial, this will now be done automatically!
These OMSPs will automatically turn invisible when entering live mode and become visible again when entering buy/build mode. They are edits of JohnBrehauts More OMSPs and Even More OMSPs sets. Filenames are identical, so you can just let them overwrite the original files if you already have those in your game.

This is especially useful for lot builders who want to include OMSPs in their builds but don't take pictures with a family living on the lot.

Remember this door? Sims kept shooing others away so it was pretty much useless. Not any more! I found an old template by Numenor and that made fixing this object ridiculously easy. I'm sorry about the 7 year-wait and about not doing this properly in the first place.
