MUJI Living in a Garden City
Rest and relaxation calls up a memory of lying on the grass in a park, sniffing the fresh air around me- which is what I wish to emulate with the crocheted plants and mushrooms that lightly brush your face as you lie back on the pillow. In Japanese, ‘Uchi’ (うち) means ‘Home’ and also ‘Within’; these young seedlings symbolise the growth and new life we can surround ourselves with in our home and within ourselves. The best relaxation is always the simplest and begins from within.
I crocheted little seedlings and mushrooms (specifically 'wild' plants) and stitched them onto the pillow in an arc surrounding the user's head. Lightly spraying the hinoki essential oil and also natural fragrances of 'Dirt' and 'Rain' (from the Demeter Fragrance Library), I wanted to recreate the entire experience of relaxing with nature. As you sink into the lush pillow, the plants move almost naturally, tilting inwards towards you.

Residents of Haw Par Villa
Haw Par Villa sticks out in modern Singapore like a sore thumb. What kind of accessories would the residents of this fantasy land wear? Traditional jewelry and textile sourced from Little India, Kampong Glam and Chinatown were peppered with a touch of kimo-kawaii to create this collection, which looks just like a part of this strange, lost world.
A shoot I did in Haw Par Villa for my first accessories collection.
CHIISANA ROOM 小さな部屋
Strange, little lived-in rooms, with only hints of its occupant. This collection is inspired by the Shimekazari (straw-rope decorations) often used in Japanese households during Oshogatsu (New Year). Each monochromatic piece is seemingly plucked from the abandoned rooms, an outlandish combination between traditional and kimo-kawaii.
A series of photos shot for my accessories line, HA/DE (which means ‘flashy’ in Japanese). Available on my webshop at http://www.kllylmrck.com/hade-shop
