Shout out to all the people with abusive parents who constantly have to put up with shit like “but they’re your parents, you HAVE to love them” and are forced to feel guilty for not being grateful for the love and care they never received. It’s not your fault, you shouldn’t feel guilty and we’re here for you, buddy.

It should be obvious.

Never tell your kid that they are a mistake. 

Never look at your kid like you are distgusted.

Never lay a hand on them.

Never tell them that everything that happens is their fault.

Never call them a bitch.

Never threaten your kid with death or violence.

If you do this, they aren’t “your” kid. Then they are just a kid and they will never be yours.

Abusive parents can say “I love you”

Abusive parents can give their kids an allowance, gifts, toys and nice things sometimes.

Abusive parents can seem like parent of the year to outsiders.

Abusive parents can defend their children from outside threats and get them in all the best schools and programs and deal with school bullies.

Abusive parents are still abusive, regardless of the things they get right or the nice things they sometimes do.
