me thinking about how keith grew up with no mother and only his father until his father died when keith was still very young likely under 10 years old and keith probably got sent to orphanages and foster homes before shiro found him and took him in and raised him and enlisted him in the garrison because he knew keith had potential and became keiths family only for keith to lose the last thing he could call family when shiro was reported dead on kerberos, then find him again, then lose him again, then find him again, then listen to him call keith worthless, broken, and that he shouldve abandoned him like everyone else had then try to kill him yet keith still didnt give up on him because shiro never gave up on him and was ready to die with his brother only to find out that shiro himself actually had died and his spirit had been trapped in the black lion and was watching over keith that way and helped keith connect with the black lion because he promised he’d never give up on him:

Lance: so i want him to be a rogue halfling who is like half human and half creature that gives him these weird fuzzy ears? maybe like a wolf or something. and like he has this really tragic backstory where his dad was human and his mom was some sort of creature? alien almost? but they both abandoned him, leaving him to grow up on his own independently with only a mentor that he would give his life up for. oh! and along the adventure he runs into his mom who is a part of some underground gang, coalition thing, who spends their time planning how to subdue the evil forces within their race. his mom tells him that she didn’t want to leave and because of their rekindling he grows these face marks that resemble his mom’s. and as time goes on he realizes that even though he is a halfling, that it doesn’t matter as long as he has his friends and family who love him how he is.
