                zuko doesn’t turn to look at her, staring out the window the way he is. another meeting has been finished for awhile now, but he’s still thinking on all the things that were discussed. all the things that are expected of him and all the work that still needs to be done to help the world heal. it feels heavy on his shoulders and he worries that he might stray from the path set before him, fear of becoming his father. he wonders if he can tell her that, if she will understand.

                  “there’s so much to be done and so much expected of me… i wonder if i can live up to the expectations.”

        she  sighs.   mai  could  only  imagine  all  the  demands  and  duties  to  be  dealt  with  as  fire  lord  of  this  new  era  ---  this  new  world,  really.   the  reparations  to  be  done  for  all  their  nation’s  atrocities  alone  gave  her  a  headache,  and  she  didn’t  even  know  the  full  extent  of  it  over  the  hundred  years’  war;  they  were  glorified,  romanticized  in  her  studies,  but  she  knew  better  now.

on that note --- and this isn’t a vague --- please don’t interchange native ethnicities either !   a mohawk person is different from a blackfoot person, and both are different from cherokee people and cree people, which are different from each other too.

it’s been a while, so here’s a reminder that    east asian face claims are not interchangeable    and therefore should not be used as such. a japanese person is not a chinese person. a korean person is not a filipino person. stop treating them as if they are an amalgamation and can be switched and used however and wherever you see fit. it’s so insulting.
