“Ah, yeah… about as snug as I can get it I think! It’s not, like, too tight, yeah?”
Truth be told, it’s exactly the opposite– and Peter looks… profoundly out of his element, actually. His attempts at keeping the tiny animal cocooned in its blanket vaguely resemble that of a person trying frantically to keep their rapidly melting ice lolly in its wrapper.
“Does, maybe, y’know– that two-fingers-gap rule that you use for pet collars so they’re not too tight, is that what I’m goin’ for maybe?”
She doesn’t need much time to assess his wrapping and decide that it’s... Not quite there.
‘Ah, I see where you went wrong. See, he needs to be nice and snug when he’s with all of his siblings in mumma’s pouch, ‘cuz as you can see he doesn’t have all that much fur just yet. You don’t wanna be able to fit anything between him and the blankie, otherwise he might freeze, or wriggle out and hurt himself. You wanna give it another go?’
