Girls, mothers, wives of coffee farmers of Seko highlands in the heart of Sulawesi in fact are very eager to learn about their own coffees ..Ā
Great people, great coffee ..
You may now be able to see coffee flowers like in this image .. The fragrance, you know, is indeed very heady when dozens of coffee plants bloom at the same time. It was nearly like as if you are compelled to swallow such fragrance right in the coffee orchards .. Such observation pushes me once to take the dried coffee flowers and brew them into becoming a cup of tea .. And the taste of a surprise .. The wet aroma and the taste are there. Of course less strong the fragrance of the flower and yet it was also less strong than its cascara, tea made of the dried skin and pulp of the coffee. Some coffee farmers in West Sumatra in Indonesia even also brew the leaves ..Ā
This is a huge bulk of wet stone that forms what locals callĀ āMount Sulahā, part the Sanggabuana mountainous complex in West Java. Below the hill, you will find the robusta coffee orchards, apart from rice fields, tended by the farmers of the Sepetak organisation in Karawang district in Indonesia ..
Here I refer to Mrs. Sunalini Menon on how she has ever fought to improve #robusta coffee into a unique, distinct and respected coffee. Even she also refers her robusta initiative also to Indonesia in which we grow also nearly 80 percents of our coffee production nationwide ..
This is Pak Oca, a coffee-cum-vegetable farmers from Medalsari village of Karawang in West Java of Indonesia. He is part of the Karawang farmers union of Sepetak. He is now proud of his robusta coffee he cultivates as he has followed all necessary requirements for a fine robusta, a distinct taste, respected coffee .. The coffee reveals its original flavor of chocolate, very aromatic and sweet .. | #robusta #coffeefarmers #coffee #Java #WestJava #Sanggabuana
Java Sanggabuana Fine Robusta
The title above perhaps theĀ āscientificā name of a coffee production, of robusta variety, that we just have started to taste though still in small lot of making a public offering. It originate from the coffee cultivation area around a part of the Sanggabuana mount complex in the north-west of West Java province in Indonesia. The micro-area is called Mount Sulah, below of which you will find the coffee orchard in an agroforestry system to support the poor farmersā life.Ā
The taste is quite unique and distinct, I would say, referring to Ms. Sunalini Menonās stance when she advocates for robusta coffee that is often sidelined merely asĀ āfiller coffeeā. You would sense the notes of chocolate and quite a mouth-feel. This coffee is also unique in comparison with the conventionally produced around the area. Weād like to make a difference. We would like that the farmers would be then willing to enjoy their own coffee instead of consuming instant coffee that is nearly everywhere you would find including among the coffee farmers in Karawang, the district administratively responsible for the Sanggabuana mountain areas .. I hope therefore that this coffee would also encourage the pride of the farmers, as the coffee becomes honorable while the farmers feel respected.Ā
I am convinced that you enjoy this coffee. You would not be disappointed, particularly for those who have been labeling robusta coffee as lower quality coffee. Please contact us at our roastery in Jakarta..
This is to encourage you to taste the coffee. Hope we would succeed in opening a coffee stall in Karawang, the capital of the district, that you may directly taste and sip the coffee on the spot ..Ā
