right, so, something i talked about in previous posts is how sniper is very preoccupied with the way others see him: he wants to be seen as a cool, strong and stoic bloke by his mates, he wants to be seen as a level-headed gentlemanly and professional assassin (not a crazed gunman!) by his parents, and puts tremendous amounts of pressure on himself to keep up those appearances, insists he's normal and pretends he doesn't care what other people think but he absolutely does. i feel like he's been like this ever since he realised he's a bit different from everyone else as a child (could be autism, or him being adopted, or even just being very aware of the overwhelming love his parents always had for him and feeling like he doesn't really "deserve" it because he just isn't normal)

i think he's obsessed with keeping that sort of control over his image and idea of himself because part of him is deathly afraid of what he could be; what if he is a man who's embarrassingly governed by his emotions? what if he is a bloodthirsty killer who actually enjoys his job not in a detached "im just really good at this specifically" way but because it taps into this forbidden darkness inside him? what if he is the monstrous and violent man that his parents worry he may be turning into? where do you draw the line, really?

so like, if he tries really hard to be what everyone else wants him to be—which is arguably easier than confronting the parts of yourself that you hate and working towards being a better person, especially if you are a rural australian man from the 1970s hello—then maybe, maybe he will finally be deserving of people's genuine affection and his parents' unconditional love.

so what will it be, mr mundy? live an accursed life of misplaced anger and repression, or allow yourself to be vulnerable and loved?

So my friend got me into tf2 about 3 weeks ago and one of my favorite things so far is sniperscout vs sniperspy. I have no idea if people fight over this, but why would they need to? When the funniest outcome is RIGHT there?
