Pretending Athena Cykes is on my shoulder when studying Psychology. It helps a lot, which is technically concerning, but who cares! If it works, it works. That's the end of it.
Thanks for teaching me about the basics of analytical psychology, Athena...
I enjoy how much thought was put behind her character design, and a lot of concepts being directly tied to music notes is definitely some form of reference to her ability to hear the hearts of people.
Perhaps, her ability to hear noise would be tied to her musical intelligence as well?
No matter what, her hair is always quite wild...she is the second largest consumer of hair products in the Wright Anything Agency. The title for the first will always be held by apollo, I fear.
This early concept art for Athena is super cute. The idea of her iconic item being a form of shell/conch (a conch being a shell from which you can hear the sea) is wonderful...the different possibilities of how her hearing ability can be presented are so creative!
I wonder how conch shells sound to Athena? Maybe they're the same, but a bit louder.
I have not read the translated Japanese notes yet (since I would prefer to find an accurate translation instead of using a software to get something out of them). I should do that soon...I would definitely love to know the deep thought process behind how Athena was designed.
Also, she looks like Sorin Sprocket here. That's cute!
I'm still new to Tumblr, so I don't really know much about what goes on here. Do people use the comments section or the reblogs to show their appreciation for artists/creators who post their content?
Maybe they do;
Maybe they don't.
Try both and I'll learn...that's how education works, I guess.
It's not like I care much to post about my /personal life/ on here; this blog is solely for my Ace Attorney fixation that has been sucking my soul away since...god, I don't even know.
It's been so long that I have forgotten, or maybe it's the bad memory...

Athena is CRAZY for Juniper. Just look at this. No hetrosexual explanation for how she talks about Juniper. None at all.
Also, not really related, but the fact that she's so insistent on asking about Juniper's crush is funny to me. We know you want a piece of the pie, Athena. We know.
It's important to mention that the reason why Athena acts so "possesive" over Juniper is due to her being jealous of how she managed to obtain new friends and move on in life, despite them being best friends.
Athena had to speedrun her teenage years to become a lawyer, so she wouldn't have had time to make friends or have fun like everyone else was having. She also mentions that she wishes she could have had a normal highschool life in aa5-3.
If anything, this adds more flavour to their dynamic in aa5-3.
I find it great that, despite this, they learn to bond again. They both still share the same close friendship they had as kids! No matter how much time passes, they're still best friends.

This is one of my favourite scenes in the whole franchise...
Childhood friends, who had the similar issue of not being able to attend school due to their health problems, yet were close enough to keep in contact through letters once Athena left. 7 years after they last saw each other, Juniper met Athena and saw that she had a total shift in personality—she was more confident, and even a lawyer and licenced psychologist.
Juniper also matured from her shy kid-self. She's now more confident, and can appear on stage without much fright. It's not only Athena who grew up. Juniper is in a prestigious school, following her dream of being a judge...
(Thanks for clarifying that she's yours, Athena.)
One of the first things Athena thinks about after the reveal of Courte's murder is if Juniper is okay. The Juniper she knows isn't so formal and strict. It's really sweet.
Juniper also uses the "Thena" nickname out of habit. Despite the formalities her her facade of being "mature", she still views her and Athena as friends (the distance exists, but they're still friends)
Now, think about it.
"How you were always there for me, Athena."
Athena was still there, even after 7 years, for Juniper when she got arrested. Just like when they were kids...except, this time, they're both much more mature...
"Thena" being used by Juniper in the clip, not only because she felt close with Athena for the first time in seven years, but slso because she was, once again, there for her like when they were children.
It's a depiction of intimacy. It's a depiction of their bond gaining strength after being weakened for seven long years. It's to show that they are there for each other, despite everything (such as the letters being written during the seven year gap), because they really are close at heart. No matter how much they may change, close themselves off, or struggle...
...And then caring for each other is mutual! Healthy relationships! They want each other to do well in their own way!
"Orange is the colour of strength and endurance"
Wow. I wonder whose hair colour that could be.
I miss them. I miss them so much.
Also, widget turns green here... it's a small detail, but it's so sweet... Athena is genuinely happy that Juniper called her by the nickname of "Thena"...
So cute... so so cute... they make my heart melt...
really funny to me that they clearly seem to have tried to make Juniper a love interest for apollo but then spend infinitely more time establishing her deep friendship with athena
Using Juniper's one-sided crush on Apollo as a reference, it can be seen that Juniper falls for Apollo since he's an "accomplished figure" and protected her. He's also confident, brave, and pretty charming.
Now look at the girl's best friend. What traits does she NOT fill?
An accomplished figure — Lawyer and Psychologist at 18.
There for Juniper — Athena defended Juniper (and demanded to do so, btw), and Juniper explicitly states that Athena "was always there for her" when she's first introduced (yes, she's acting "formal" here, however there is truth to this statement).
Confident — No longer the "shy and timid" kid she used to be, Athena is much, much more confident in herself and her abilities now. A total personality shift that Juniper addresses herself.
Brave — I mean, I don't think I have to explain why the girl who spent 7 years in Europe studying to save her friend is brave. Lol. She's also pretty strong (throws Apollo and definitely has thrown hands, once or twice...)
I'm not much of a Junipollo fan myself (neutral on the ship, because I'm a Junithena warrior), but the characteristics of Juniper's one-sided crush can be applied to Athena as well. It's pretty neat.
pearl would 100% be vegetarian. the moment she figures out how the food industry treats animals she’d be brokenhearted. she would start crying if someone asked her to eat meat. bonus is that maya doesn’t go to burger joints or mentions that she’s going when she’s with pearl.
I angrily ranted to whoever I could find about how badly Mikoto is written in T3.
Quite literally the worst possible depiction of DID ever. Before T3, I believed that his story could be interesting because it had a lot of implications for (now disproven) theories (such as the stalker theory) which could've been great.
Obviously stalker theory was a theory, but the M.V. is so nothing-burger thanks to the report stating that nothing happened in this guy's life. Why is the camera getting water all over it if it means nothing? Did they add this for the love of the game?
What was the point of this? MILGRAM is a series where every detail has meaning, but this apparently means nothing. Midokoto also apparently means nothing, there's just a scene where the "switch" happens for the love of the game, apparently. Just for the love of the game...
Don't even get me started on the divorced parent problem...or the 12 murders...or the formation of an alter overnight...
