People don't do things without a reason. The majority of any action that is taken has been logically correct in the mind of the person taking it for all of history. The only thing seperating sides isn't objective good vs. evil, it's just the differing perspectives each side holds. People still do immoral things, but it's through a lack of understanding and/or a fundamental misunderstanding of the topic at hand. The sad part is that understanding cannot be gained through transmissable information. Understanding comes through experience and open-mindedness. The best thing that any scientist could do for humanity would be to figure out how to give people the experience and understanding that others have developed. This is the only way to world peace in my opinion.
