KARASUNO

-Suga is from Minnesota (Suga is seen wearing a shirt saying “Minnesota boy” on page 45 of chapter 234)

-Daichi is from Alabama (He canonically says “yeehaw they don’t play volleyball like this in Alabama” in chapter 78 page 78)

-Nishinoya is from Arizona (this is seen when the temperature falls below 20 F in chapter 2 and he dies. this part was really sad for me because he was my favorite character up to that point and so I was bummed when Jungkook from BTS replaced him as the Libero for Karasuno :( )

-Tanaka is from New Mexico and is Hispanic. (He reveals this in chapter 1 when he calls Hinata a “pinche gringo” and also has the zia symbol tattooed on his eyelids)

-Hinata is from New York and his favorite curse is “fuck” (he has canonically said fuck 456 times in the first 5 chapters and his New York roots are shown when he shouts “Yous is lucky we aint in the big apple, yous fuckas would be dead”

-Kageyama is a bitch from Michigan (he has a bumper sticker on his 2007 Honda Civic that says “People are born everywhere but legends are born in Michigan” that we see in chapter 78 page 90)

NEKOMA

-Kuroo is from Dallas, Texas (he has “Texas is the shit” tattooed on his asscrack as seen in chap 34 page 89)

-Kenma is from Quebec, il est un homme francais babeyyyy (he is heard in an ova saying “je suis de Quebec, je ne sais pas Japan”)

-Yaku is from Maryland (He has a Maryland Til I Die tattoo on his left bicep as shown when he takes off his shirt in chapter 5 to arm wrestle Nekomata for the coaching position. He wins and takes over the team, taking them to nationals 69 times)

-Lev is from Havana, Cuba. His bachata is perfect and he only speaks Spanish in the manga, which creates tension between himself and the rest of the team. (He says “la gente heterosexual no tiene derechos“ when he first meets the Nekoma team in chapter 23 page 4)

AOBA JOHSAI

-Oikawa and Iwaizumi are from Southern California (We know this because the source of Oikawa’s and Kageyama’s rivalry is due to Kageyamas preference for Northern California, which is revealed in chapter 67 page 5)

-Kunimi is from Alberta (he says “Im from Alberta and also I love smoking weed and am a Gemini” on page 69 of chapter 420)

FUKURODANI

-Bokuto is from New Jersey and Snooki is his canonical mother. (She brings him his lunch of a deep fried hotdog and coleslaw during the Nekoma v Fukurodani match and can be seen in the stands on page 46 of chapter 172)

-Akaashi is from Washington (he takes Bokuto with him back to his hometown over spring break in chapter 56, this is the same chapter where we find out hes never known the touch of a woman)

SHIRATORIZAWA

-Tendou is from Florida, and his uncle is famous rapper Riff Raff. (This is seen when Riff Raff visits him at a tournament in chapter 56 and says “ whats up my sweet nephew Tendou, your family and I miss you back in Florida” This beautiful moment between the two later causes Tendou to be so homesick for Florida that Shiratorizawa loses the match and misses nationals)

-Semi is from Las Vegas, Nevada. He is shown in the time skip to return home and become a world famous poker star who also strips on the weekends to make ends meet. (this is in chapter 56 if you wanna check my research)

-Ushijima has no confirmed birthplace. He does however, allude to his proof of birth being consumed by a fire in 1607.(this is seen in a secret chapter called “The Boys Think Ushi is an Old God Come to Condemn Man” during the nationals arc)

-Goshiki is from Ohio. He admits to living in a house consisting only of corn stalks and has a closet of only overalls (The reader can assume he is from Ohio due to his response to Ushijima’s question about if he was available for practice during summer break, since he says “you mean corn season, city slicker?” and then spits in Ushijima’s face. This is the moment Ushijima quits the team and Goshiki becomes captain)

OTHERS:

-Aone is from Toronto (he says “Greetings Hinata Shoyo I am Aone from Tronto” on page 4 of chapter 56 during the Date Tech v Karasuno match)

-The Miyas are from Virginia and are both homeschooled virgins who get zero cooch (as shown by the flashback in chapter 56 depicting their lives in VA before they were adopted by Waka Folcka Flame in 2006)

Hope this cleared things up for everyone! None of the characters are canonically from Japan and its been really upsetting me when people tell me that not every story is based in the United States :(
