GIF IT UP 2016 entry by Kathy Onarheim from Plymouth, Wisconsin (USA). Source material from Bibliothèque municipale de Lyon via Europeana.
Kathy writes: “The poster art is so fantastic in the collections. This one caught my eye for color and design. The text titles didn’t seem to go with the drawing - but I saw the young dancer as who the matron was in her own soul and mind - forever young. By “ghostly fading” in and out one can get a glimpse of the mind’s eye. It was a struggle on whether to include new text or assume the meaning would be conveyed with the fading. I decided to leave the added text in as added context in a world of scanning and click thrus to capture the thought.”

GIF IT UP 2016 entry by Kathy Onarheim from Plymouth, Wisconsin (USA). Source material from Bibliothèque municipale de Lyon via Europeana / @europeanacollections and from Videezy user Beachfront.
Kathy writes: “The original poster was more abstract and the woman was overlooking a city from a mountain top. She seemed to be one with nature so I added a sunrise/sunset from a dock overlooking water and most importantly to me the skies moving as she gazes. She seems at peace and nature providing its beauty as reward.”
