Queen Máxima is accosted by a desperate mother at the end of an engagement in Schiedam, 13 September. The woman wanted to give the queen a letter in which she once again asked for attention for her son’s school problems. [x]

At the invitation of His Majesty the King, the President of the Republic of Singapore, Halimah Yacob, will make a state visit to the Netherlands on 21 and 22 November 2018. She is accompanied by her husband Mohamed Abdullah Alhabshee.

Outward Dutch State Visits since King Willem-Alexander’s accession (part 1)

On 3 July 2018, Princess Mabel received an honorary doctorate from the Law Faculty of Glasgow Caledonian University at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. Mabel received the honorary doctorate in recognition of her "excellent contribution to human rights throughout the world and commitment to non-profit organizations such as the Malala Fund, Crisis Action and the Coalition for the International Criminal Court". 

In addition to her work for the organizations mentioned by the university, she was co-founder of War Child Netherlands, the European Council for Foreign Relations and Girls Not Brides, with which she fought worldwide to put an end to child marriages. [x]

His Majesty King Willem-Alexander and Her Majesty Queen Máxima, at the invitation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, will make a state visit to the United Kingdom. The visit will take place on 23 and 24 October 2018. The King and Queen are accompanied on their visit by Minister Stef Blok of Foreign Affairs. The state visit celebrates the excellent ties between the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, as 'North Sea Neighbours ', based on shared values in the past, present and future.

Everything about Ines passing has been so heartbreaking, but watching the video of WA making his statement really got me. He looked so exhausted and still on the verge of tears. You can really tell that she was someone special to his girls. It just puts your stomach in knots thinking of their family.

I just watched the video, and while I didn’t understand a word he said-- you are spot on saying he looked on the verge of tears. I’m so surprised they didn’t postpone the tour.

Local Argentinian media have reported that Inés Zorreguieta-- sister of Queen Máxima, has died of an apparent suicide. She was found at her home on Wednesday night in Buenos Aires. Inés, who worked for the government, is believed to have suffered from depression and mental health issues.  The Queen's diary of engagements has understandably been adjusted. She will not join King Willem-Alexander on their tour of Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia next week. Inés was the godmother of Princess Ariane, and was the youngest child of the late Jorge Zorreguieta and María del Carmen Cerruti Carricart.
