this character , as well as all of his subsequent lore , are entirely my own creation , i've been writing about him & theorizing a book since 2016 , which is finished & currently in the process of being edited/published. i am also almost finished with the prequel of his story , focusing on his ancestors + the events leading up to his timeline. i also have a list of character sheets explaining any mentions of other characters from my novels here.

          ❛             because where the fuck would i go ?            ❜          brows lunge , amos fixing his attention toward katherine in exasperation , throwing his arms out at his sides from where he lay sprawled across the hotel couch. the question was valid ; he had nowhere to go , not really. he might crawl back to the carolina backwoods once in a while , but that wasn't his home anymore. honestly , him & katherine had been bordering on inseparable since his rescue of her from that church back in 1864. it was handy , having a friend around who couldn't die.

amos's glower pinned her from across the room , throwing an arm behind his head & snatching at the glass of whiskey on the coffee table , waving it at her absently before taking a long sip.          ❛             you've been planning this for over a year , kat , don't bow out on it now. if those loser brothers give you a hard time , they're probably not worth the effort.            ❜          amos had been commuting back & forth from mystic falls to the larger city where katherine was staying for a while. infiltrate the friend group , learn everything he could about their plans , study elena , the works. it was exhausting , trying to act normal around those people.

          ❛             you should've met my ex , then. that shit was second nature to her.            ❜          the memory of margaret tasted like ash in his mouth , feeling a slight twinge of satisfaction , knowing no records of her existed anymore. she should remain lost to time , but some of his own wounds still hadn't quite healed , so the thought of her still haunted him from time to time. straightening from his position by the windowsill , amos began to pace the room , bare feet hitting the floor quietly as he waggled the held book at lestat , one of his brows inching toward his hairline.

          ❛             this reads like a bad romance novel , by the way. how much of this is actually real ? i was only around for a handful of it before louis came into the picture.            ❜          there was no jealousy in his tone ; why would there be ? he & lestat were both fucked up in their own ways , why would he go out of his way to stand between actual love ? he'd never be able to feel that again , lestat should at least have the chance to. amos stopped his pacing by the window again , bringing his lit joint back to his mouth from its place in the ashtray by the sill , the outside moonlight cool & familiar against the bare skin of his chest.

shout out to when i had one of my beta readers tell me to be careful when depicting amos's toxic relationship with his wife margaret , because it comes off as misogynistic , and i'm like. one , i'm a woman. two , she's literally one of the primary villains. and three , what.

sad amos fact of the day: he was pushed into a marriage at the age of 18 , to a woman 10 years older than him. they had two children together , despite amos hating every single time she touched him. take that as you will.

some mini lore about oracles:

they’re closer to gods than humans. idaia , the first oracle & amos’s direct ancestor , was so inhuman it unsettled the rest of her family , & entranced her followers.

unlike witches , oracles are chosen by a goddess to do her bidding among mortals. most have the gift of foresight/premonitions , though a rare few have unique abilities that make them stand apart from their kin.

examples:

nature followed in idaia’s footsteps, tracking flowers or vines wherever she went. she could also pool moonlight into her palms to drink.

an oracle named korinne who reigned during ancient greece could summon lightning.

amos has the ability to see peoples auras.

due to the nature of amos’s curse , most of his abilities are stunted , cutting him off from the goddess & his ancestors. he retained his unique gift to see auras , but the rest of his magic is a challenge to navigate.

" you hand that thing over & i'll consider it. " dean's forearm cords, fingertip flexing the trigger hook & ready to pull. consternation forms a dueling furrow across his glowering brows. his hollow tips will do the job, too, already loaded into the chamber & awaiting the opportunity to fly.

there it is, a thick roll of pages turned so many times that the edges crisp & curl, skin oils smudging the ink, notes scribbled into the margin, the edges stuffed with photographs, leaflets with added information or phone numbers. soft leather bent to the shape of his broad palm, to sam's. A PANG --- furious, with the thief, with himself for the tether choking him to this battered legacy --- strikes like a blaze in his breast. red streaks his vision with blood rushing so heavy in his ears that all he can hear is a thunderous, drowning roar. dean nudges his gun's nozzle in the air, a STAY BACK that he doesn't bother voicing.

dean, in his desperation, isn't too quick not to test it for a trap, & toes his boot at the edge of the book before snatching it up from the ground like it might disappear should he leave it any longer. " you need information, you ask. " a callous, wrathful growl bellows up from his throat. " give me one good reason why i shouldn't waste you right now. "

          ❛             right , like you would've actually answered my questions.            ❜          amos's tone wasn't angry , though it did hold a tinge of resentment , expelling a scoff as he shifted on the ground , pitching forward against a sudden wave of dizziness. note to self: maybe cheap whiskey wasn't always the answer. rolling his tongue with a despondent smack against the roof of his mouth & grimacing at dean's threat , the man returned his attention toward the hunter with narrowed eyes.          ❛             if you think that peashooter you call a gun could actually take me out , be my guest , please.            ❜          honestly , maybe a bullet between the eyes might give him a good , brief nap , before the curse dragged him back to the land of the living.

rolling over onto his side with a groan , amos reluctantly hauled himself to his feet , drenched in the pooled rainwater that had gathered in the alleyway the night prior , making him look a little more sodden & pathetic than usual. he squinted at dean with a frown , staring down the barrel of the gun he had trained on him before cocking his head & sinking his teeth absently into the swell of his lower lip.          ❛             i wouldn't waste the bullet , if i were you. but , hey ! what the fuck do i know.            ❜          he'd long since stopped pretending to be normal. after the failure that was that journal , his glimmer of hope was gone , & he didn't really care anymore.

at some point soon , either dean or his brother would realize that he was the supposed witch causing havoc in this town , & he wouldn't be put down like other witches did. that seemed like an exhausting series of events , but his next words mattered.          ❛             i really am sorry. i was going to return it , i swear , i just got .. distracted.            ❜          more like drunk , but the sentiment was there.
