The colouring & decorations are inspired by the official game artworks ほにゃらら先生 has blessed us with- specifically the prominent 'yaoi jesus' Aoba piece. I wanted it to have a similar feel, especially with the pixels, so I put a lot of effort into them and had a lot of fun in the process!
The pixels from the series are flat-coloured with the exceptions of very few where they offer one layer of shading to show volume (like Mink's pipe). I find the simplicity of this really neat! I tried it in the beginning, saying to myself "that should be simple", but alas I couldn't stop adding pixels..
I ended up rendering them(*/▽＼*) The thoughts "I wonder what it will look like if I do this, just as a test, I don't have to keep it" kept boiling in my head and when I reached Koujaku's mala beads it was all over..!
Who knows, I might end up making more pixels from the game to print them into stickers and do some scrapbooking~ When I have a rebound, the ideas I have can be endless and they all excite me so much.. but I am only one person, and my time and energy are limited, so I have to prioritise.. ; ;

I'm having my first solo exhibition in Tokyo in a few weeks! It's a collection of various works from the last few years and some new pieces, mostly themed around the natural world.

I finished it last month and was happy with how it turned out but I haven't been feeling like publicising it.. Something inside me tells me to keep up the tradition, so here it is u v u
Compared to last year, the fall was very abrupt. I remember bits and pieces by looking at the few pictures I've drawn and my sporadic journal entires. A year poor in creation (with the fewest pieces I've made in a year in my life), living a different life-style afk. By the end I began my next work with the immense help of my close circle, the kindest of souls who support me, and my partner in crime whose help has been the wings of my heart.

January, February, March: Self-explanatory.. the lowest I've mentally in years, delivering homework *insert cryingonthephone.jpg* || April, May: Full-force back to making chibis and nailing down very hard how important it is to take breaks and working in segments + con with friends <3 || June, July, August: Watching Yu-Gi-Oh & Pokemon Platinum with my little brother while we take care of dad, escaping to the sea with friends whenever I could (and my savings running terribly low), working on commissions and attending a lot of social-obligations.. escaping to the village with friends & watching The Summer Hikaru Died🐚🌾 || September: the month I've been looking forward to!! Hang out with my dear friends, @elk64 and @megusketches 🌌ᯓ☆ˎˊ˗ I was so happy..!! and then... started moving out (/_＼) || October: full-time caretaker & baking banana bread with my little brother to keep our sanity, YGO + DMC5 for soul-cleansing || November: insomnia & feeling terribly low on energy daily, keeping sane by doing fun activities weekly (I love you all, and thank you <3) || December: friends being the gems of the month helping me with my next project (we are a circle by now but who comes up with a name, we are all ghost-artists at this point if we don't make it official hahaha!), trash-series-binging time + good music-listen-together sessions + petting cats, holiday-social obligations that deplete my batteries and make me evaporate, what is sleep \( ˙▿˙ )/\( ˙▿˙ )/
It was a challenging year in many aspects --both in my life and what I am aware of and matters to me. While most of it feels like an open wound, I feel I've grown more collected and purposeful moving forward. In the last couple weeks I am seeing clear signs that I am recovering from the burnout I went full-speed in end 2024 and healing. My eyes sparkling like an anime and I am not ready for tomorrow but I know for sure how to handle it and I have no doubts I can do it.
The mindset I am planting/ adopting in 2026 is spending more time by myself. I am already in the process of learning how to manage my anxiety and by extension, my time.
I've written a lot and deleted a lot and re-written a lot so I am ending this with one fun fact: I watched The Summer Hikaru Died maybe ~5 times. It's such a good series and the OST soothed my soul.
I was very lucky that my friends coloured my lineart <3 In order that they appear the illustrations were coloured by me, @sebere-art, @plankton-in-space, @konveeart. <3
so for 2025 I'm indebted $10K in taxes, panicking over evaporating income and an impromptu move that has maxed out my cards. my only way forward is patronage from those who want to see my art continue.
all it takes is $5 a month. it may not seem like a lot but if enough people care, it adds up fast.
either way, thank you for being here. it's tough right now and I can't continue my art alone.

This is a seriously wonderful Pokémon themed Fairytale non-profit, for charity anthology where artists got to collaborate with writers and sprinkle some stunning artwork around their thrilling tales. I cannot stress enough how exciting this experience has been (and let me tell you, SPOILER ALERT: the book is amazing oh my stars.˚⟡!!)
In this update I am letting you know I had the opportunity to illustrate unicorns *shakes from excitement* Please look forward to it!
Summary of Art 2024 before NY's?! Crazy!! Happy Holidays~
For the last 4 years (more mindfully and successfully the last two), instead of yearly goals/ resolutions I've been setting "mindsets". Making art is a process of expressing my soul burning bright, with whatever fuels it at the time, so taking care of my body and mind has been essential in keeping the relationship healthy, happy and on the dance floor.
I am pretty sure I've noted somewhere what I wanted to do this year project wise (or it was so intense it got printed on my brain), which was finish at least one project and find my answers on what it means to me to "want" and "have to". The latter is still a wip, but more on that on the DW entry under the cut, hehe~

January, February, March: Mostly messing around doodling and half-jokingly working on skull-anatomy because I was busy out of my mind studying & working on a long project || April: Project working, moved to my village to focus, played The Sims2 after over a decade, paperwork hell, streaming nights~ || May: Major win!! project finish, Convention Time! || June: Moved out & patiently building energy lvls again.. 🐚 || July: Picked up the pencil & drew a bunch of Sephiroths in my sketchbook, read books, physio </3 || August: Going on a skull-spree!! (also still a wip but I'll learn to draw faces no matter what!!) || September: Chaniartoon Fest, sketches, paintings, wips, making buttons for the first time and as if all weren't enough-- baked banana bread(s) and went off to get the Open Water cert. after so many years (／ˍ・、) || October: drawing for my friends gives me life and is the best thing I've done this month ♥ || November: con prep, back to class while simultaneously working, zine work, dog-sitting!! || December: work, zine, homework, loads loads LOADS of music?! ♥ (((*°▽°*)八(*°▽°*)))
Thank you for a "do-it-scared" year 🌱 Some kind of leap-of-faith on it's own.. ✸

Fun facts:
Started reading literature this year. Had a blast (and got blasted, in multiple ways).
In one of my dives (scuba) I threw up in the sea in front of a tourist boat, those that have glass bottoms. No one will forget that at the centre. I got the reputation now.
David Wojciechowski & Victor Fritzsche - Gato was the album that carried me through January - February and you should absolutely give it a listen if you haven't yet, and if you have, listen to it again!!
I wrote a dreamwidth entry with everything I think is relevant (but also might not be). It can be be relatable though, so I'm happy to leave it out there.

I was non-stop listening to the PMD: Explorers of Sky OST throughout the process of these. I miss PMD..
Sketching on ClipStudio and moved on to painting in PS, even though I am pretty sure the batch I did last year was entirely on CSP. These took more time to draw as I forgot about the main purpose which was to colour "simply" (which I would have avoided if I took 5 minutes to look at the previous ones). I failed both assignments this time but at least I had a good time~
I found Rikoula's shiny-eevee artwork I mentioned in the other post!!

I don't know if it is because my poor laptop has little space or because of the file transferring between csp/ps but when the layers were within a folder, the file would "break"? it was weird and more visible in the leafeon timelapse. Gladly, no files were lost, but I did get concerned..
While on the timelapse music-hunt I came across this amazing sootopolis cover and I am obsessed!! You have to listen to it too!
Bonus: Chris told me Glaceon is very Oshi no Ko like and I can't get my mind off of that. Glaceon was always meant to be an idol!!
