sometimes i think about how my all-girls catholic school’s idea of a PE class was to pair two girls up, teach us how to dance tango (one of the most sensual dances) for a whole sem, and have us perform it as an exam with one girl wearing a dress and the other girl wearing a coat and tie and how theyre still completely baffled on why almost half of their students are gay
"There's no hope for the future." And that's how they felt during the Atomic Age, during the World Wars, during the Enlightenment Revolutions, during thr plagues, during the Viking raids, during the fall of Rome.
Yet, we persisted.
CS Lewis had something to say about this
Been feeling a bit hopeless of late. Wasn't expecting to stumble across a quote that would fundamentally alter my perspective and make me cry during my lunch break but here we are
This is an excellent sentiment.
i’m going to be really honest with you guys i think the tendency to read the absolute worst possible intentions into every action you don’t agree with is getting too automatic and it’s eating you from the inside out
TASKMASTER 21.07 "Putting Things On Things"
A drag path, but it's Manuel Neuer saving a penalty in his last World Cup game ever, just to lose it all in the next moment

paraguay national team and the head coach in the locker room tonight after knocking germany out on penalties
This is the thing that makes football, "the beautiful game", you have a team like Paraguay that manages to make it to the round of 32 after losing their first game against the USA and conceding 4 goals. They manage to make it in as one of the best third place teams and wind up having to face Germany, a team that on paper is better than the USA and that won their group, and that itself is a bit wild. They score first, but Germany equalizes. In extra time, Germany manages to score but it's annulled due to the goalie getting pushed. They go to penalties and this is where Germany should succeed and after 5 penalties they are tied and with one last chance, Germany misses a goal and Paraguay scores.
Until the last moment there was just no knowing who would go through but the expectations from everyone was that it'd be Germany. Goes to show, you really can't know for sure what the results of a football match will be.
PARAGUAY RAAAAHHHH 🗣🇵🇾✨️
2 european groups being eliminated in the same day, life is good
genuinely the knockout games were on steroids today jesus
netherlands and morocco missing that easy ass shot and then the camera panning to this dude.
this is why i watch sports
So is Croatia the only European team that’s good at penalty kicks?
That penalty shootout was somehow even crazier than the Germany v Paraguay one... keeper getting an own goal like that was sad as hell, poor guy. Fantastic effort though.
