I remember going camping in the North Island and watching a boy of Korean descent hanging out with his friends who were from New Zealand.  The New Zealander boys were trying to convince the boy that he was a New Zealander himself, though the boy had some doubts. 

 I related to what he was going through because I went through the same identity crisis when I was growing up in LA.  It’s all too similar no matter what country you end up in as a person of other origins, the feeling of whether I am this or that is something of a unique dilemma that as we gain knowledge of.  Our own understanding of who we are is a precious journey and each person realizes who one’s true self is without the noise of others telling us contradicting traits about ourselves.
