Yooo why does no one on here talk about how amazing fasts are??
Like you can consistently drop a lbs a day. (Without exercise)
It also reboots your imune system so you’re ready to fight off disease
During a fast the body will flush itself of toxins (if you get a white coating on your tongue, that’s them!!!)
The body can also replace & repair damaged tissues while fasting
Appetite (the hunger hormone called ghrelin) actually decreases!!!!
And the mental clarity is insaneeee
it’s been shown in studies that during a fast people get smarter
on top of all that, fasting is healthy!!! and can be achieved without the development of an eating disorder (although the body will begin to starve if the person doesn’t have enough fat)
Think you’ll be low on energy? Think again! Since the body has entered ketosis – switched from using sugar for energy to fat – (and therefore lipolysis – the process breaking down of fats) energy levels actually sky rocket
Ever had problems with sleeping? Fasting can actually help some people sleep.
Important shit to note:
There is a big difference between fasting and starving, when the body has less than 15% fat, it will begin to starve (meaning it breaks down muscle tissue)
It is possible to drink too much water!!! 3L a day is fine. If you go over, be careful to add some salt. If you manage to flush out all your sodium you will die by cardiac arrest!!!
Fasting is only safe if it is built up. Never fasted before? Try intermitant fasting. Done that? Maybe try going a day. Then 3 days. Then a week. Try dry fasting for a day. Then go 10 for a couple of weeks. After that, why not even go for the big numbers 20s -50s?
Always look to break a fast correctly. Don’t fast for 50 days and then eat a cake. That will kill you. Have some soup or bone broth. And do some research!!!
I used to use fasts to get from 165 to my LW (121) in a handful of months last year.
