So proud that he even gives his company a little bow. “I can attest that your assumptions of my singing styles will be as smooth and velvety as you’d hope.” With a far more cheery and conceited demeanor, the small pharaoh sets foot in the room, his chest puffed out in pride.

“Neo Cortex, Ne~o Cortex. What an imposing name,” Karen commented as she followed him in, tapping her palm with her folding fan. The rhythm was enough to jog her brain into putting the pieces she’d gathered together. With both the N and the same last name, they had to be related.

“Aah! You know Nina!” she concluded, taken in by the “small world” joy. She didn’t to know either of them that well to be happy for them. “Petite and cute? Shiny hands? Tiny N on her forehead? It must be lovely to have family around.”

I finally snagged spirit hunter: NG, the last game I’ve wanted for this year, so I’m excited for that (but it won’t boost my activity for a little bit…). I also have older threads still tracked from before isolaween, and hope to feel Karen-energized enough now for good responses to them.

“Velvety, you say?” Doing a half smirk, Cortex pinches at the false beard on his… real beard. “True as that is, I’m afraid you’re going to have to find more reason to convince me. Hehehmhm…” Is he fishing for compliments? Maybe. It’s the first time meeting her, but she’s so far been one of the more pleasant people he’s met here on first impression. It felt… nice. Maybe it’s the party’s vibe, but what’s the harm in just… one song? He’d hear her out with a little more coaxing.

“Yes! Hearing it now, there’s definitely a nice depth to it. It must be amazing with a song you love.” As much as she enjoyed the performances of the others inside, he could add something new to it. (Of course, she was being optimistic, rather than knowing with any certainty that was true…)

“Alsooooo, you have a very karaoke-experienced young lady here if you need a second vocalist for it. Karen Hanatsubaki, at your service. I promise I won’t let you down!” She nodded confidently. …Relative inexperience with Egyptian pieces as she was, she couldn’t remember one of those featuring an N before.

He’d let the blood only because the timing of its’ fall had been set so close to the party - the unknown prankster had long disappeared and Ogata didn’t feel like putting effort in tracking them down anyway.

“Hmm. Are you sure?” The distortion ended when she lifted the mask off her head again.

“Then we just need to find something more your style! What do you think? A skull? A mummy? A spooky cat?” Cheerfully, she pinched both masks in one hand to hold them and gestured back with her free one. “Even more choices await you!”

Well, that’s a familiar voice, even though said voice is screaming. One tripped Karen on the floor later, and Gwyndolin peers down at a terrified friend who seems to be requesting protection. He reaches down to offer a hand to help her up, figuring this monster is probably a mere attraction of the holiday.

“Lady Karen, art thou quite alright? What sort of monster didst thou see? I shall make certain of its defeat!”

Their hands met, and halfway up, she realized who she’d flopped down in front of. “Luna Moth! I mean — Dark Sun Gwyndolin the Exalted!! Thank you very much~ I was a little hasty, but I didn’t take anyone down with me!” she announced as if it was a great victory.

“You look just stunning tonight! A true angel! And it was a wolfman, I know it.”

In the center was someone with a cheap crystal ball, clearly not an official staff member. Before commenting, Karen opened her folding fan in front of her mouth secretively.

The distant scream grew louder near the end of her sprint, and that worked out well and fine when her shoe landed on someone’s trailing dress. Another gasp later, Karen fell forward in the hallway, landing roughly on her stomach.

So far it seemed like she’d only caused any trouble to herself. Now, she reached up toward someone she could only half-see from the ground.

“Ah! Angel! There’s a monster in the back!”
