I made two new zines in this June. Finally this zine series has reached its 100th title. I'll be part in an event called Zine Festival Summer 2025 in Shibuya. I made two zines in this June and July. https://koshigoeschool.com/zines ksz #96「HQ Bags Catalogue」 このジンは、2024年6月28日から7月10日に亀戸アートセンターで行われたイラストレーターの水越智三さんとの二人展「A Few Cold Pizzas」のために作ったカタログ的なジンです。 展示初日に来てくれた方から「阿部くんはジンが作れるんだから解説的なジンがあればいいのに」と言われ、次の日に急いで作ったものです。展示前にそういったものを作ろうかなとは思っていたのですが、忙しさを言い訳に作るのを見送っていました。大袈裟かもしれませんが、こういった「的確なアドバイス」「サボろうとしていた自分を律してくれる」をしてくれる存在は本当に貴重だと思いました。 This zine was created as a catalog for the two-person exhibition "A Few Cold Pizzas" with illustrator Tomomi Mizukoshi, held at the Kameido Art Center from June 28 to July 10, 2024. On the first day of the exhibition, a visitor mentioned, "Abe, since you can make zines, it would be great if there was an explanatory zine," which prompted me to hurriedly create this the next day. I had considered making something like this before the exhibition, but I put it off, using busyness as an excuse. It might sound exaggerated, but I truly believe that having someone who provides such "accurate advice" and "keeps you disciplined when you're tempted to slack off" is incredibly valuable. ksz #98「玉ちゃん旅 ~伊勢編~」 このジンは、2023年の5月に渋谷ヒカリエで行われた「春のZINE祭り」での映像作家の玉田さんと僕のトークイベントを書き起こした文章と、玉田さんが伊勢へ向かう道中に撮った写真をまとめたものです。初めて書き起こしという作業をしました。トークイベントに参加することも、バイクトラベル用のバッグを作ることも初めてでした。初めてだらけのことでしたが、声をかけてくれたのが玉田さんだったから、やってみようと思えたのだと思います。 This zine contains a transcript of the talk event with filmmaker Tamada-san and me, held in May 2023 at Shibuya Hikarie during the "Haruno Zine Matsuri," along with a collection of photos taken by Tamada-san on his way to Ise. It was my first time doing a transcription. It was also my first time participating in a talk event and making a bag for bike travel. Although there were many firsts, I think I was able to give it a try because it was Tamada-san who invited me.

イラストレーターの水越智三のジン「UMA LIKES CLOUDY SKIES」を制作、出版しました。 イラストやデザインのことは私にはわかりませんが、このジンを制作していて私が感じたことを書きます。 カラフルな作品が多い水越さんですが、彼女の過去の作品「All Stuck To The GROUND」の白黒の作品群を観たときに、ゼロックスとの相性は悪くないと思ったので、時間はあまりなかったのですが、ブックフェア出店に合わせて制作を打診しました。 白黒になることでデフォルメされたモチーフが一層記号化します。 同時に、静物画等における「配置」の重要性がより際立ちます。 ボツ絵から再構築されたこれらの作品は、いわばコラージュ的に制作されています。 再構築、再配置することによって、一つ一つのモチーフが蘇り、一枚の絵として立ち上がります。 「何をどこに配置するか」の重要性がわかる作品群です。

Koshigoe School published the zine UMA LIKES CLOUDY SKIES by an illustrator Tomomi Mizukoshi. Mizukoshi is known for her colorful works, but when I saw her past "All Stuck To The GROUND" series of black-and-white works, I thought they would not be a bad match for Xerox, so I approached her about producing them for the book fair, although there was not much time left. The deformed motifs become even more symbolic in black and white. At the same time, the importance of "placement" in still life painting is highlighted. These works, reconstructed from rejected paintings, are created in a collage-like manner, so to speak. By reconstructing and rearranging, each motif is brought back to life and stands as a single painting. These works show the importance of "what to place and where to place it. 友人であり詩人のSHの詩集を制作、出版しました。 諦めと期待が入り混じったもどかしい「いま」を感じさせる詩が英文で16篇収録されています。英文ですが短くシンプルな文章なので気軽に読めます。 Koshigoe School published a poetry zine called Part of the Night. The poems are by one of my friend, poet SH. 今年は少なくとも去年以上には写真を撮ろうと思います。 勘違いだとは思いますが、写真を撮らないと何かがどんどん失われていく気がします。それがいいことなのか悪いことなのかはわかりませんが、なんとなく落ち着きません。 This year I’ll take more photos than last year at least.
