My teachers always tell me that I break up my paragraphs too much and that it's unnecessary for my strong word choice.
I blame Shannon Messenger
The thing about kotlc is that the lost cities are a dystopia GENUINELY presented as a utopia.
This is unlike dystopian genre, which presents the world as though it is SUPPOSED to be a great society but every word of the worldbuilding is MEANT to make the audience think “wow, this world is messed up”
Instead, the lost cities are fully introduced as glittering and beautiful and perfect. There are little blips like, y’know, matchmaking, and some overlooked prejudices, and the ill advised cache system, but none of those things get a lot of the spotlight.
And then things like, the council sanctioning the ability restrictor that caused Sophie intense pain, or exillium receiving little to no funding, and the council seeing the other species as explicitly lesser, and the NIGHTFALL LORE where they ignored atrocities against humans and rewrote history to frame them as reckless violent insurgents against a benevolent government—
Those things slowly come out as the series goes on and it becomes increasingly clear that the lost cities are a MESSED UP WORLD.
In the dystopian genre, the audience is never meant to think the society is an actual perfect world. But in KOTLC, we’re figuring out how messed up the lost cities are at the same time as the main characters.
I just think that’s awesome.
Do you guys think we are going to find out what the great gulgon incident was in unraveled bc Shannon said she was going to realise a book or novella in another characters POV when she releases what the great gulgon incident was
first time we see alvar he chugs a glass of wine in a sip, talks about his 3 girlfriends and proceeds to call known facts a hoax. truly what a guy
compilation
guys holy crap look what I just found
THE FREAKING TRANSITION IM ON THE FLOOR
NOW THIS IS AN EDIT
Lord Cassius stating to Keefe “You were terrified. Because she gave you just enough love to show you how wonderful it could be if she truly cared for you—and then casually withheld the rest, leaving you wondering where you went wrong, and trying to figure out how to fix it, and being constantly afraid that you'd lose what little you had." is, and I cannot stress this enough, one of the cruelest things I have ever read about being done to a child.
Like can we talk about this quote? And how raw and tragic it is?
So how do you explain to people how many Kotlc books there are bc I used to say there're 9.5 books but know that there's 9.5 coming out do you count unlocked as one or as half
legacy sokeefe after running me over with a bus and cooking my cat
also thank u so much for being supportive on my other posts it means a lot😭🫶
Wylie: Anyone d- Sophie: Depressed? Biana: Drained? Dex: Dumb? Stina: Disliked? Wylie: -done with their work... What is wrong with you people...
I have a question so in a very rare situation when an elf dies who does the stuff go to like if they have kids does it go to them dose it go to their spouse or their parents if their parents died and they are divorced do the kids get it and what if the kid is underaged dose it go into store get for them or do they just get to keep like little things
Do elves have hospitals bc Sophie has almost died like 500 times and she's like let me go to the school nurse like I know he's a trained physician but still like I know they have birthing centers but other than it never mentions them
So I know I can't be the only one wondering this um where are Elvin grandparents at bc like it never mentions adult elves parents ( except Wylie) like did elves just stop talking to their parents after their kids get married like are you telling me when Jolie died but Grady nor Edalines parents ever came and helped
Omg everyone I just realized if Foxfire is the list city's most prestigious school but it's also the only school does that mean it's also the worst school in the lost city's???
Ok but imagine if Shannon didn’t make 9.5 so in book 10 Keefe will just randomly say something like
this is worse than that one time I burned down a gas station
and Sophie is just like ;-;
Has anyone else noticed that like almost every mom in the lost city is back stay at home mom ????
biana hit alvar's head when she was carrying him out of nightfall. imagine she hit his head hard enough to cause memory loss and the neverseen didn't do shit
That's honestly what I thought happened when alvar just woke up
