currently living in a traumatic situation, experiencing trauma actively. i happen to be disabled. i want to avoid exact specifics on my pinned,, but memory, focus, fatigue, and emotional regulation- among other things- are some symptoms i struggle with. i also live with widespread chronic pain, from a specific disorder i may or may not choose to speak on in other posts. im sure trauma exacerbates my issues. regression helps alot, more ways i can count.
i experience mild to heavy disacociation on the regular, and do not always succeed in remembering things. if i do something wrong- please kindly lmk.
in a similar vein, i can struggle with reading, and may misinterpret texts on occasion, especially if i feel nervous, tired, or rushed. please be patient.
i have to mask/ignore agere often, so there is going to be long bouts of inactivity due to this. please be patient with me.
i apparently act atypically within my regression. do not expect me to be any specific kind of regressor, i do not fit in boxes. i do not fit so i do not sits. thx.
i am super afamilial and aromantic, this carries over into my agere. i am also asexual which? has no relevance here but #pride or whatever. the idea of a mom/dad/sibling/uncle/aunt whatever as a cg ? makes me want to puke. no offense to those that like it, i just,, have avoid that for my own sanity lol

yes:
dms- things you think i might like (add tws for anything unclean, blood/horror/medical themed, media that mentions sexuality, trauma etc)
messaging or interacting like we are pals!

no:
spam texting with expectations to reply quickly or at all
expecting a reply when we arent pals
do not send me things that are overly yellowed, the color disgusts me viscerally (i can handle some shades and also shiny gold/glitter/translucent yellow)
anything related to n*rwh*ls (the animal, its a massively upsetting thing for me)
messaging me privately if youre a minor. safe adults dont need private conversations with bio children. it makes me feel icky. public interactions on posts or in asks are fine.

HEADS UP: This guide is going to contain images that some will consider as “plushie gore” all images and discussion of this will under the keep reading though!
EDIT: I am going to be investigating an easier and safer option in the future, I will post a new guide once i've found a better method ^^
A note before we begin, attempting this will put your plush at risk of damage! Due to how difficult it is to remove eyes (they’re glued in and often melted down) we need to use cutters very close to the fabric and I have accidentally cut the fabric before!
It is very possible to repair any damage done, my plush Ortus is the plush that I damaged but I fixed the holes and you can’t tell
However I still warn and I encourage you practice on plushies you don’t mind damaging, this is not an easy customization to do! Please take your time and be patient with the process if you do attempt
Also one last warning please please please be careful of your fingers! Though it looks like my fingers are near the cutter in the photos they absolutely are not when I actually cut! Absolutely be careful and make sure you do not hurt yourself either!
Now then! Here’s our friend we’re customizing, you’ll need a few items to do this.
Scissors, a needle, thread, seam ripper, eyes + eye backings, and lastly if you have one large enough a plastic nipper is your best option! otherwise you may use a wire cutter just please be careful
First step is opening our friend up. I gently pull on the edges of the fur where theres a seam and look for the thread, you can see in the first photo I loop my seam ripper under the thread and then you’ll pull forward to cut the thread.
You can now gently pull on either sides of the seam and it should begin to open, continue to cut threads as needed with the seam ripper until you’ve got a big enough hole you can turn the head inside-out through.
Remove stuffing from the head and then you’ll push it through the hole we made and find the eyes. I’m only replacing one eye on this guy so I find the one I want and get my cutters ready.
Note: once again this step can damage your plush, take your time and be careful! Play around with how you line up the cutters and try to find the best possible angle
If your eye has a melted stem like mine cut that off first, then try and line up the cutters under the back piece while avoiding the blade going into the fabric!
Avoiding the fabric can be hard if the eye is glued down like mine was in this case, I ended up cutting the edge of the back piece instead and that was enough to get it to pop off but some eyes are a lot trickier.
Once you have the eye free turn the head right-side out again, remove the eye and pop in your new one! Next while holding the new eye in place use your other hand to push a back onto the eye from inside the plush, you may need to partially turn the head inside-out again to do this.
Lastly, you’ll add the stuffing you removed back in and ladder stitch the hole shut and then you’re done! If you don’t know how to ladder stitch its super easy and you can find a tutorial on youtube!
And we’re done! Here’s my fella with their new eye :D I hope this is helpful and best of luck with customizing your plush friends!
being small with ur cg for the first time but instead of being all cute and soft i stare at u like the protagonist of a horror movie before "it" happens and i feel like im about to be in an episode of courage the cowardly dog
(:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅[̲̅:♡:]̲̅:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅) Alternatives to Self-Harm (:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅[̲̅:♡:]̲̅:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅)
DISCLAIMER: I am not a doctor or therapist; I am just someone who has a history with self-harm and wants to help a little bit. This post is intended to provide individuals who do self-harm with alternatives and an exploration of how to reduce or stop self-harming behaviours. This post is neither intended to speak down to individuals who do self-harm, nor is it intended to encourage self-harm. It is a neutral post with the intent of harm reduction, which is completely compliant with Tumblr's Terms of Service. Disclaimer over ♡
Self-harm serves many purposes for the people who engage in it, and can be addictive. It can be very difficult to stop self-harming, especially when you have been using it as a coping mechanism for a long time. If you would like to stop self-harming or try to self-harm less, it's important to understand what you're getting out of self-harm and what emotions you're regulating with self-harm, so you can understand what kind of alternatives might work for you.
Many people use self-harm as a form of grounding and quelling anxiety. Self-harm can release endorphins and dopamine - in simple terms, there are "brain feel good" chemicals. This is part of why self-harm can be addictive. Others use self-harm as a way to feel something when they feel mentally or physically numb. There are multiple other reasons why people may self-harm, but most fall under these two umbrellas.
Something you will see often when talking about self-harm reduction is TIPP: Temperature, Intense exercise, Progressive muscle relaxation, and Paced breathing. These are different grounding and emotional regulation techniques which can help reduce or eventually replace the urge to self-harm. You want to pick something that is going to align with what you want out of self-harm. If you are feeling numb, exercise or "temperature" (like dunking your face in ice water or holding ice) are good picks. If you are feeling anxious, paced breathing and muscle relaxation may be better picks.
Essentially, the goal of stopping self-harm isn't simply to stop self-harming; it's to replace self-harming with a different and healthier coping mechanism.
Alright! Sorry for the long intro, but under the "read more" I give some alternatives for self-harm. I've split them into three sections: replacing the rush, replacing the visuals, and replacing the feeling.
♡ Replacing the Rush ♡
We want to try and give ourselves a safe but very strong sensory experience. Shocks to our system like this can help distract our brains, and some studies show that strong sensory feelings can release dopamine and endorphins. This is part of why self-harm is so addictive since it releases the chemicals, but we can get very similar mental results using methods that are kinder to our bodies ^-^
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
+ Eat something with a very intense flavour. Super sour candy, salt and vinegar chips, spicy candies or snacks, anything that has a flavour so strong that you have a reaction to it. Some examples of candies or snacks that you can use for this include:
For sour: Warheads, Toxic Waste, Cry Baby Tears, Mike & Ike Sours, Sour Skittles, Sour Patch Extreme, if you have a high sour tolerance you can also get some straight citric acid (the thing that makes stuff sour) and sprinkle it over your candies to make them even more sour.
For Spicy: Atomic Fireball, Red Hots, Skwinkles, Cinnamon Bears, Hot Tamales, Flaming Hot Cheetos, Fuego Takis, if you have a high spice tolerance, you can also get some powdered ghost pepper seasoning and sprinkle it over whatever your favourite chips are to make them even hotter.
+ Dunk your face in ice-cold water. Or your hands, or if you want to, you can take a quick cold shower. If you don't like the feeling of being wet or don't have a bowl that is big enough for this, ice packs are your best friend. Run an ice pack along your arms, hold it on the back of your neck, or rub it on your chest. Cold sensations are very good for calming the brain and quelling anxiety (I use ice packs to help prevent panic attacks frequently).
+ Move around. Go for a walk or run, do jumping jacks in your room, run in place, walk up and down the stairs, anything that is going to get your body moving and raise your heart rate a little bit. This can help release both endorphins and dopamine, which can help replace wanting to get those from self-harming.
+ Smell something very strong. Essential oils tend to be the easiest for this; ones like peppermint, eucalyptus, cinnamon, or ylang ylang are very strongly smelling. You can also smell something like VapoRub or other things intended to clear nasal passageways, although be aware that if you do this too frequently, you can damage your nose. Try not to use anything like a nasal spray or something like that, our goal here is not to clear out our nose - it's to have the strong sensory experience caused by the smell itself.
♡ Replacing the Visuals ♡
It's super common to crave the visuals of self-harm. Some of us think it's pretty or soothing to look at, so recreating these visuals in a less harmful way can be soothing to look at, too.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
+ Consider a skin-safe pen or marker to make red lines on your skin where you want to cut. Some of them have fine-tips as well, which can help somewhat simulate the feeling of cutting as well. Sharpie skin markers, BIC Bodymark temporary tattoo pens, surgical skin markers, Crayola washable markers, microblading markers, and Pilot high-tech skin-safe pencils are all designed for use on skin and can be washed off later. (You can also use normal sharpies and pens as long as the ink is non-toxic and you don't go crazy with it. The alcohol from the inks will seep through your skin and can make you sick if you use too much.)
+ If you like the dripping, consider a tattoo or other skin-safe ink to drip onto the area you want to self-harm. This may stain your skin. Just be aware, you can usually get the stains off with a little bit of rubbing alcohol or dish soap.
+ Make fake blood to drip on the areas you want to cut. There are a ton a recipes but here are just a few that are safe to put on your skin:
5tbs corn starch, 1/3 cup water, 3 drops red food colour, 1 drop green food colour.
Clear glue mixed with a little water & red food colouring
Corn syrup & red food colouring, with a little corn statch to thicken it if needed.
♡ Replacing the Feeling ♡
Sometimes, especially if you use self-harm to combat numbness, you will crave the physical sensation. I find these to be some of the more beneficial ones if you are having a difficult time resisting urges with other methods, or if you are just starting to try and quit, since they feel the most similar to self-harming.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
+ Run ice cubes along the area that you want to self-harm. The cold sensation can give you a physical sensation to latch onto.
+ Snap a rubber band on the area you want to self-harm. This will give you the stinging sensation that you're after. This can still leave welts and bruises on your skin; however, it is much less damaging than cutting.
+ Consider purchasing a Wartenburg Wheel. These are spiky wheels originally used to test nerve sensitivity, but they're not super common in medicine anymore. They're a good way to have a sharper physical sensation without actually damaging your skin.
+ Consider a self-harm recovery pen. They typically have one piece that scratches the skin (to simulate the feeling) and another that drips red ink down next to it (to simulate the blood). I have never personally tried one, but when I tell you guys I have wanted one for SO long, I may actually end up buying one. If I do, I will let you guys know what I think of it.
That is all I have for today! I may make a post in the future which condenses these down into images that you can save with the tips on them, so that A) you don't have to read quite as much and B) it's more easily saveable and reference-able, so you can just pull it up whenever you want.
I love you guys. I hope you are all safe, and please remember that if you self-harm, you are not alone, you are not "wrong" for doing it, you are not "broken" or any of that bullshit. Don't let anyone make you feel lesser or embarrassed because of it. ˗ˋˏ ♡ ˎˊ˗
Kool-aid in the bong! Tastes better plus it's cute. Just change it out more often than you usually would !
Knitting/sewing cool hats and accessories for your stuffies >:]
Decorating your sippy cups or just having cool sippy cups! My favorite is my shark one ! Could also be a bottle, a regular cup, etc! Mug collections r good !
Monster Energy in the sippy cup ❤️
Other drink ideas: apple juice, soda, chocolate or strawberry milk, yoo-hoo
Snacks also (just stuff I like while hi and tinie): graham crackers or teddy grahams, cheesy whales or goldfish, apples and cheese, ice cream
Carrying a plushie round with you everywhere you go :]
Graphic tees and pajama pants!!
Silly bandz and kandi bracelets and rubber bracelets
TV shows like Rugratz, Scooby Doo, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Rainbow Brite, etc
Or if you like them, Slasher horror movies like Child's Play, Halloween (2007 ver is my favorite), Scream, etc! You're "technically" big enough for them hehe
Crafting! crocheting or knitting, sewing, painting, paper mache, clay, etc
Doll artists on YouTube! Dollightful is my favorite, but lately April Rose Art's mushroom dolls have been my new fav series hehe
Put up string lights, make a fort, make your room cozy, etc !!
She's plus sized. All of her clothes are thrifted. She makes outfits for every plushie you have. She bakes your favorite pastries for you whenever you ask. She reads bedtime stories to you every night. Her purse is filled with snacks. After your baths, she puts baby lotion on you. Manners are important. She has tea parties with you. Her hugs are warm and feels safe.
Have stuffies who are just toys and you dont see them as friends or sibbies or alive etc
Have one stuffie whose soul/name goes in between plushies!! I do this a lot because my main comfort plushie is too big to take with me so her soul can move between plushies :] sometimes she is a dog, sometimes she is a monkey, sometimes she is a giraffe...
Have multiple doubles of the same kind of toy
People whose toys have toys (i.e. my doll has plushies!)
Prefer dolls or figurines or other hard plastic toys rather than soft plushies
Keep your toys on display and dont really take them down or physically play with them (they dont mind this!! In fact they enjoy relaxing :] )
Give names/personalities to toys that technically wouldnt have them (like cars)
Form bonds or play with things that aren't toys, like sticks, pet rocks, etc, or even electronics like phones or laptops!
Also, touching on the theme from earlier, people who dont have typical rules for toys, such as: my toy can come with me in spirit even if I cant actually bring them, my toy and I communicate telepathically or in another nonverbal way, my plushie's soul isnt bound to a plush body and can jump into electronics or figurines, etc
Customize your toys with paint, patches, embroidery, dye, etc
Accessorise your toys or make them clothes and that's how you play with them !!
Prefer not to play with others, or for people to not touch your toys! That's very fair!
Have toys who are characters from a specific media, but you customize them to make them look different, give them a different name, give them a different story, etc
🐅 . . . ☆ Yes autistic play looks different, but "different" doesn't just mean the "amount of weird the public can tolerate", and play can be anything!! The idea is that it's fun for YOU ( nd whoever else plays with you! ) What doesn't look fun to you might be a blast for someone else ! Keeping an open mind will make playing fun !
Remember to share and keep gentle hands with others things, and also to be kind about the way that others play!! Our differences make us good friends :] 🦋
☆ ~`` What are some of the ways YOU play differently than others? ``
