BOOK 4 SPOILERS

Dispite refusing to think that the well water actually revived janner, i find the concept of them continuing to grow up together fascinating. Heres some random thoughts to accompany the doodles:

Janner is given too much water. Hes just a little bigger than he should have been naturally. Kal should have ended up being taller, but janner stays the tallest

Janners scars disappear, much to his disappointment. They earned their spots on his skin and in his story

When revived, he comes to in a panic. No happy reunion, no pleaceful smile and hello. His first words are "i shouldnt be here. What did you do?" Those words haunt kal

People are a little wary of him. Theres something in his eyes that shouldnt be there.

He never marries, although he does try loving sarah. He cuts it off because hes too afraid to commit

About 5 years down the road, his skin starts to shrivel again. Turns out he needs the well water every now and again to survive. He tries to refuse, but Nia begs him to drink.

This means he doesnt really age and that terrifies him

Where he feels like hes been ripped from a slumber he should have never been able to leave?

Where after every fight, he sits quietly wishing that he lost it?

Where he bonds a ton with his uncle becuase they both feel out of place?

Where he never marries because hed never want someone to marry a walking corpse, a person on stollen time?

I honestly love how the booked ended. I mean, did i sob and spend about 3 months gaslighting myself into denying Janners death? Duh. However i dont think i would care about these books nearly as much if he lived.

There's something so complete and somehow healing about his death. The entire series, Janner fought his calling. He didnt want to be the throne warden, and even with some growth, he consistantly had moments of jesousy, doubt, and anger.

But his final action cemeted his desire and journey towards protecting his brother, and ultimately, his entire home kingdom.

I cant really put it into words, but Janner couldnt have finished his growth as a character without dying. It wasnt his death that completed it, but the his willing sacrifice.

I saw this really good post that I can't find again but I keep thinking about, but it reminded me of something important.

Keefe can be cute and caring towards Sophie

And STILL be unhealthy selfish.

Throughout a lot of the series it seems like he is putting Sophie first.. but i think he's actually putting the good expirences she gives him first. And dont get me wrong, he still cares about her in his own way, but he isn't as devoted to her or ANYONE as much as some- including me- may assume at times.

He has his father's ego and his mothers need for control, and that manifests in masked, hidden ways that REALLY needs to actually be addressed if he ever wants to have healthy relationships with those around him.

Take a break my guy.

The best kind of post that anyone could make ever is when they take something that Sophie will likely face as the main character and point out that a side character could do it WAAAAAY BETTER.

I'm talking Jensi and Dex's brother being the ones to truly PROVE that being talentless does not degrade your worth and as living creature, not miss 5-billion-abilities

I talking Dex or even biana and Fitz breaking through the matchmaking norms and PROVING that they should not and WILL NOT be part of a system designed to remove the unwanted, not a girl who didnt have the choice to use the system or not.

Im talking Keefe and tam bringing awareness to abusive parenting disguised as model elf behavior, not a girl who has has TWO pairs of loving parents.

I think the most special thing about Sophie is her friends. Yes, shes the powerful "freak" that no one can ignore, but an outsider can only bring change to a certain extent. She brings a shock that wakes people up. Gets them moving.

Gets them working towards changing the world that hurt them into a world that will help their future children

thinking about what it mustve been like living with your memories being erased constantly, with being unsafe and constantly drugged in your own home without your knowledge to have points in time with gaps in your memory where youre so confused and lost, when you dont remember what youve done and when it finally comes back youre sick at yourself for whats shes done and then erased from your head, of what YOU have done and how the two people who know exactly how this feels dont even talk to each other

I think Cassius has been on his own redemption journey for a very very long very horrible time. Think of it this way: the fundamental step for changing who you are and becoming a better person is facing your actions and what they have done to others. The problem is that elven brains-particualry an empath one- are structurally very weak. Cassius' twisted actions that stemmed from his own insecurities and manipulation from his wife obviously had disastrous effects on his son. Facing that head on WOULD break him. He's been too horrible. (And perhaps he tried. Perhaps thats why most of his memories from when Keefe was young are so hidden in his mind; they sank through the cracks).So he can't face the truth head on, but he still knows that something is very very wrong.

So he does his best in the ways that he can. He holds information from his son's best friend in order to get his son to live with him, to attempt to give him a home again.

He pokes fun at his son's crush and is generally evil about it, but deep down he knows that this teenage girl is a better support for his son than he ever could be. So he encourages it. Encourages his son to spend time with better people than he or the son he raised is.

Cassius Sencen is a sick, twisted, manipulative man...but he's trying in his own equally twisted way.

He is sooooo very interesting to me.

Evertime someone makes a post that addresses that Cassius, like any living think creature CAN indeed change for the better, but fact does not earn him his son's love back or excuse his past actions

I have no qualms with the song itself even if its not my FAVORITE, but when I did hadestown the guy who got cast as hades....unfortunately was a tenor? So him trying to hit the low notes was unfortunate at times, plus I found put later that he was being a creep to some cast mates. Some baaaad associations lol
