1962/1973/1985 TRILOGY

Although Stefano had been deeply religious since childhood, finding out about his "eaten" brother frightened him greatly, and later left him feeling downright guilty. He constantly thinks of Santo as a martyr who gave his life for him, and Judas often comes to his mind. By the age of 16, Santo had grown from an imaginary friend to an obsession, and then the priest's obsession with this new saint devolved into delusion.

Initially, Stefano was susceptible to schizophrenia, but then he also developed a brain teratoma, which, ironically, resembles a parasitic twin.

Stefano feels great shame for his survival, but at the same time, he considers himself the saint's guide and cannot decide whether this path is destined for him by God or whether he must atone for his sin. After 1985, the tumor began to press on parts of his brain worse than before. In addition to religious delusions, he began to develop persecution mania, culminating in an epiphany in which the mafia members were the devil. Before this, he hadn't seen anything out of the ordinary in the family's activities, since these simple parishioners were repenting.
