Random thought of the day.
You know, it isnāt the first time I find myself lowkey thinking about this butā¦.
1) I think we all have stumbled upon the casualĀ post attempting to calculate the time the Chosen Children have spent in the Digital World during the events of Digimon Adventure.
We know for sure that 1 day in the Digital World roughly corresponds to 1 minute in the Human World. This means for example that 3 whole months have passed in the Digital World during Taichiās short visit to Odaiba on episode 21. Meaning the kid has spent at least one hour and a half in Japan before he returned with Agumon. One clock points 12h35m, and Taichi catches the TV News that usually air around 1 p.m. there.
And assuming for example the children attending to the Summer Camp woke up really early in the morning and, like, imagine their buses arrived the mountains of Fuji around 9 a.m. or 10 a.m. or something like that - this adds at least four if not six more months to the equation. Then you have to take into account the Vandemon arc and add the whole Dark Masters arc, that I am sure should correspond to at least a couple more months, perhaps three or four months total, we really donāt know.
2) We know the story has roughly taken inspiration from the book āDeux ans de vacancesā - which literally translates to āTwo Yearsā Vacationā.
And, heck, I donāt think the children have spent two whole years in the digital World - I am pretty sureĀ however this whole ordeal must have corresponded to at the very least one whole yearĀ or at the very least several months that make it all pretty close to one year - if not more. Not only because not all episodes focus on events that happen one right after another, sometimes it feels like days if not weeks have passed between some events. Even if most of the time the episodes do keep a solid sense of continuity no matter how small.
And I have seen several posts rambling about this tiny issue, several fans trying to figure out exactly how much time has passed and many of us resorting to whatever means we have to reach solid conclusions.
So we know a lot of time has passed, weĀ know the characters address it all the time, we know they miss it dearly, we all know they have matured a lot, but I am yet to actually see this being addressed a little bit more literally and phisically. Heck, itās not mentioned not even in fanfiction as in, I meanā¦Ā
Arenāt the children all at the very leastĀ one year older than their so calledĀ ālegalā age? XD
One year may seem like nothing to an adult alright, but to a kid? Itās one hell lot of time for a child my friend, and I cannot shake off the feeling this is something Taichi wonders about when he feels like counting his own age with the fingers of his hands lol.Ā
So yeah all this absolutely useless wall of text is just me wondering, doesnāt Taichi kind of feel like he is 18 instead ofĀ ā17ā³ in tri or something - if nothing else the sheer situation the children have been put through should already make them more mature and experienced than the average kid, but you knowā¦ just random stuff noone cares about but makes a whole fic paragraph a lot more fun to write.
