they all made mistakes and I acknowledge that, but i think Tumblr should move on. stop bringing up their mistakes as if to spread the venom against these people months/years after the actual problematic thing took place

I've been trying to understand the root of all the criticism that my post got. I think I understand why people are so worked up after seeing this text post
BUT 1) People are taking that list to be a list of scandals, which it was certainly not. No where in my post did I say this was a list of scandals. 2) And there was no element of "lol" in that post at all. It was not meant to have that tone at all. I was not trivializing. I was not laughing at it or any of the other feelings people got from it. I was also not counting deaths as equal to all the other bad things either.
I don't even know if this is directed at me, but in case it was, I want to defend myself because people are making presuppositions about the post that completely alter the meaning of it, thereby vilifying me.
Also, after reflecting upon myself, I realized that I was wrong to include LSM wife's death in the post. That has naught to do with kpop.
Sorry fandom, but please don't take the post to be making light of something serious because it sure as hell was not. I'm sorry if it seemed that way. I probably should have done it differently, but please stop with the personal attacks...
Sometimes I feel like I should just simply opt out of the kpop fandom.
The height of my happiness was 2012 when kpop changed almost everything about me. I became more open-minded, more aware, more learned by interacting with people from all over the world. Every little thing had made me so happy then. The new episodes of a reality show of my bias group. A fanfic update. Comeback news would excite me to no end. I know that it sounds like an overstatement, but Kpop had made me a happier person.
Now, it's all just so different. I find that being in the fandom is draining me of energy and time as well comfort. Bad things are happening to groups I care about.
Also, I felt like a target of rage and criticism on more than one occasion, and only people who have experienced it know how it makes you feel, how you feel so heavy and glum and nothing can ever bring you out of the dark. Every minute of every day, you are constantly reminded of this impending hostility towards you. I never want to experience that again. Ever.
I feel like by opting out of the fandom, I can just shut it all away and start anew, do something with my life. All the time I spend on kpop, spend writing novels or drawing, or learning a new language or putting more effort into my studies.
But... I don't know. I feel miserable.

I mean... people here can get really mean and will accuse people of the most outrageous things for something that clearly didn't mean any harm. I mean do people really think I'm an "inhumane bitch that doesn't care for human life" ?
I'm sorry, even though i still don't get it. I don't understand how putting death in a list of bad things that happened to kpop is commodifying people or trivializing what happened to them.
I'll just go sink into gloom now. :/
About the last post about 2014 and all the bad things that happened this year:
1. I know I made a mistake with Lee Soo Man + Wohee. I'm sorry, I fixed them both but the mistakes are still spreading around. :/
2. Putting BaekYeon on this, I was not saying that BaekYeon is a bad thing, the reaction was the bad thing. That's why the caption is "BaekYeon blowing up" and not "BaekYeon."
3. The accident at the concert happened after I had made the gifset.
4. People who are saying I shouldn't include Ladies Code and Lee Soo Man in this list because it's "trivializing"
I kinda disagree with that. I'm taking a class on this very idea that death and catastrophe is unspeakable, and I learned to think that way is to ignore it and let it fade from memory, which is bad. The fact they're just one of the 20 "bad things that happened to kpop" is not suggesting is a tragedy equal to all the other bad things that happened, but simply that it is is a bad thing.
Lee Soo Man and Ladies Code are still kpop. And so what happened to them is still a kpop tragedy. My post is there to recount the bad things that happened to kpop, and to ignore these two tragedies would basically disregard them as kpop, which is a bad thing, espcially for Ladies Code because Ladies Code left their legacy in kpop.

What happened with Ladies Code really made me reevaluate everything.
The concept of death is so simple but its ramifications are far from simple. I mean to think we won’t ever see a picture of these beautiful girls ever again. To think that everything they’ve worked for is essentially over, that this one event will supersede everything they’ve ever done ever…
And also sad to think that in a few weeks time, this one event that literally ended these two girls will be almost forgotten and out of public discourse. People will move on. The two girls will more than likely be forgotten.
It’s also sad to think that this could happen to me, or to anyone else I love…
I hope sincerely that EunB and RiSe stay on people’s minds. I hope that their names aren’t eaten up in the abyss of coming scandals and music releases…
To achieve that, I hope the remaining members don’t give on Ladies Code. I hope they carry on their friends’ legacies so that the two girls are never forgotten. I hope they achieve idol popularity and honor the two members that passed so young.
This pains me to the depths of my soul… I really can't imagine what it would be like for the other members and their family. </3
The Tumblr Kpop Fandom
This is just something I noticed and I know people are going to disagree and I'll get unfollowers and hate and whatever, but I still want to address this:
The Tumblr Kpop fandom likes to exaggerate A LOT. There are so many posts going around about how the kpop fandom is misogynistic and all, and whenever I read such posts I can't help but narrow my eyes and think wtf.
Obviously there is misogyny in the kpop fandom and I don't deny it AT ALL, but some of the posts just exaggerate this misogyny SO MUCH.
Like I saw at least 10 posts going around saying something like: "kim hyunjoong beats his girlfriend and no one cares. hyosungs bra shows and the whole world throws a fit." Am I seriously the only one who does NOT see that happening. First off the whole hyosungs bra thing was NOT made into a big deal like people seem to suggest. Second of all, umm, the entire kpop fandom now doesn't like hyunjoong? I mean most everyone stopped respecting him and the very few that defended him were countered and downvoted.
Like honestly, the misogyny in the kpop fandom is SO overblown on here Tumblr. I feel like people like to blow it out of proportion just to get notes. -.-

I just watched the MV for this and I feel like a thousand knives stabbed my heart at the same time. That song is absolutely beautiful. The MV was beautiful. The lyrics are absolutely beautiful..
It was depressing and so real and my heart feels like it's about to implode. That line: "why are they so cold" just gets to me every time.
The song is about how cold people can be, and the sound of the song conveys this isolation and helplessness that one feels when someone treats them coldly. You listen to it, and it will give you chills. It's amazing how these two artists are able to convey such emotion so harmoniously with their voices at such a young age.
Let me say that Akdong Musician is one of the most refreshing things that has ever happened to kpop. They bring something new to kpop, something different then all of those banal concepts many groups are doing nowadays. I look forward to what they'll come up with in the future.
This was a picture that was posted on hasisipark's instragram account and was deleted shortly after. The message that came with it was: “Shoot with NU'EST today for their upcoming album.”
Okay, so seeing this picture excited me so much because FINALLY, the LOVEs have a concrete enough indication of a comeback after almost a year.
The most striking thing about this photo was the hairstyle change omg. Two of the members especially underwent drastic changes. JR went blond. Ren went to short black hair.
For every comeback up until now, there was never this drastic change in hairstyles. All of the members maintained pretty much the same hairstyle from debut throughout their comebacks. This comeback is different though! Obviously, Pledis is trying to do something different with this comeback in comparison to other comebacks. That’s a good sign!
ALSO… let’s talk about this Hasisi Park. She’s a photographer that has actually worked with NU’EST before. Actually, she worked with JR and she was the one that took and edited the following photos of him:
I really like her, because she’s very artistic in her approach. If you Google image her photography (caution: nudity!), but a lot of it is very abstract and makes you think. It’s not just taking pretty pictures of pretty people, there is obviously a meaning to her photos. I think that it’s a good sign that they’re working with a photographer like her for their concept photos. The photos will probably be very symbolic and meaningful. Maybe this means that NU’EST is going back to their meaningful lyrics?
One thing that we do see is that Baekho has a tattoo on his arm. I tried tracing what the tattoo looks like to me to the best of my ability, and this is what I came up with:
It looks to me like it’s either
a) a puppy
b) some abstract design idk
I don’t what to say about that. But I will say that the only arm we do see clearly in this photo is Baekho, so maybe the other member have a tattoo too? I can’t wait to know!!
That picture doesn’t seem to be them in costume though. They aren’t wearing any makeup or anything, and so that means the photoshoot took place before or after the picture was taken. The photographer is showing them pictures, so I think it took place after because otherwise they wouldn’t be huddled like that.
Also, something else we can extract from this photo is that it’s in some kind of villa. I’m not sure if the photoshoot took place in that particular location, but if you look outside, it’s very green and nice. So the concept could potentially be some outdoorsy thing?
I don’t know! But what I do know is that this photo made my day! I can’t wait for teaser photos. Hurry up Pledis! :D

Becoming a Starlight
I think I'm a Starlight.
I only used to listen to their title tracks, which were never really my thing. But now, after listening to all of their album tracks, I'm hooked to so many of their songs omg.
Now I have to go watch all their reality shows, buy all their albums, vote for them to win music shows, read some fanfiction etc etc
It's fun joining a fandom :)
It's so sad that VIXX TV ended the day I decided to become a Starlight though :( /sigh/

I don't like this post. It's one of those posts that seems to put down a group of people (members of boy groups) in order to make members of girl groups seem oppressed or something.

Especially 18. This is not only a girl group thing. THIS IS AN IDOL THING.
I would not have had a problem with this post had it not been titled "lil things boy groups don't have to deal with." If it was titled: "lil things girl groups have to deal with," then the post would have been right and accurate (and probably not have gotten so many notes). But what this does is dismiss the troubles that the boy groups go through as non-existent. It's trivializing them and their problems.
I agree that the misogynistic society might mean that girl groups have it worse, BUT THAT DOES NOT MEAN THAT BOY GROUPS DON'T DEAL WITH IT AT ALL. The title is still inaccurate and trivializing.
I wish it wasn't NU'EST that I fell for.
NU'EST fans would probably hate me for saying this. But before the LOVEs take out their pitchforks and raid me, let me remind you that I already fell hard for NU'EST, and I love them with every inch of my soul.
But I feel like... if I had fallen for another group, my experience in the kpop fandom would have been so so so much more exciting. Like.., NU'EST doesn't do any reality shows. Their comebacks are so sparse. There isn't much of a fanfic community. It's just not fun being their fan anymore.
I wish I had fallen for VIXX or EXO or B.A.P instead. Had I fallen for one of those groups, I know I would have experienced so much more happiness being the kpop fandom. And it's not like I can stop loving NU'EST and start loving another group. It's not that easy. NU'EST will forever be a part of me, and they'll probably always be my favorite group even if they disband right now (oh God forbid).
I know this is selfish of me to say. "I wish I loved another group because then I would have had more fun." As if I'm loving a group for myself and not for them.
I don't know. Is it selfish? Is it even love? I find it hard to think that what I feel for NU'EST isn't love.
I think Hyosung is absolutely gorgeous. You know what the most beautiful thing about her is though? Her smile.
VIXX
So I don't even know much about VIXX nor do I particularly like much of their music, but I decided to watch VIXX TV on a whim. Worst decision ever because I think I'm in love.
I love them. I love how real they are. They all seem to be themselves and not some role that their company makes them play. I love how we watch them and just know that we aren't watching staged personalities rather real ones. They seem so comfortable in front of the camera, so at ease. They aren't sitting stiffly or paying attention to every word they say. They're just having fun and being true to themselves.
A lot of my bias groups, I feel, are very staged; they try to uphold some sort of image. Watching VIXX was like a breath of fresh air because they obviously aren't doing that. They make me smile, even though I am not a Starlight. Those boys would make anyone smile because they are entertaining to watch by nature.
One especially interesting member is Leo. He doesn't say much, but somehow he's the one that's especially real to me. I feel like of every idol in the industry, the one that is most like me is Leo. His quietness, his aloofness, the way he talks, you can just see that he's not trying to fake any part of himself for the fans. He's not trying to be funny, or cute. He's not trying to appear lighthearted. He's just himself, and that makes him all the more interesting and lovable as an idol.
A lot of people don’t like the aegyo image on kpop idols, and hence you see a lot of people shaming artists like the ones above. People dismiss this genre as “childish” or “creepy” or “fake.” Personally, I interpret aegyo a lot differently. I feel like the purpose of aegyo is to make people happy. The smiling and the exaggerated expressions are supposed to put a smile on your face rather than creep you out, and I don’t think it’s as fake as people make it out to be.
If you follow any of the groups whose image is centered around being cute (A-Pink, Hello Venus, B1A4 and Boyfriend), you notice that there is something about them that is different than other groups. They have a certain natural cheeriness about them that is obviously there, and this cheeriness is what makes them eligible to be in an aegyo group. To me, aegyo is a talent.
If you’ve been in the kpop fandom long enough, you’ll know that not every idol can pull off aegyo. For someone to be good at aegyo, they have to have a certain light-hearted aura to them.
Therefore, I feel like the kpop fandom needs to calm down when it comes to shaming aegyo. It’s not easy, and it’s not entirely fake. The purpose of aegyo is make people smile, to make people happy and to spread the innocent joy. Personally, I think aegyo is a delightful genre.
