Dino p.o.v
I shivered against the cold wind biting at my cheeks and nose. I did not care what any of the others said, winter is overrated. I was cold, I had been feeling sick the last few days but was heckled as boring for my unwillingness to come along to the christmas market, so despite not feeling up to it. Seungkwan smiled brightly as he took my hand and dragged me along the crowded streets of the Christmas market. I rubbed my nose on my gloved hand, the cold air making my nose run. "come on! quit dragging your feet!" Seungkwan said, his voice shining with excitement, "I'm c-HHtChu! ehkTchU snf I'm coming"
"Bless you!" Seungkwan said, not even trying to hide his shock. You ok?"
"yeah, just the cold air" i explained with a wet sniffle, Seungkwan looked unsure and pulled his glove off his hand. "You feel warm" I shrugged it off, not wanting him to know I wasn't feeling well, not wanting the others to feel bad for dragging me along when I wasn't up to it. "It's probably just because your hands a-h_re snf hh-KtcHhu eHkTchu- cold" I sniffled and wiped my nose on my glove again. Seungkwan pushed my hand away and pressed a piece of fabric up to my nose. I took it from him, not noticing what it was, I blew my nose softly on it, but then realized that the cloth was his scarf. "Hyung! Why would you let-"
"Because you need it more than i do" he said as he adjusted my jacket to be more closed and he took the hat off his own head and placed it on mine, "You're shivering Channie"
"I'm fine" I tried to push him away but instead ended up coughing. His eyebrows drew together in concern, "Let's get you home" he said softly as he gently rubbed my shoulder, He instructed me to wait as he rushed off.
Seungkwan p.o.v
I should have known when Chan did not want to go to the christmas market, so when I discovered the maknae was sick everything made sense. I instructed him to wait as I ran off to find the leader. Upon finding him I explained that Chan was sick and I would be taking him home. Seungcheol thanked me for noticing and told me to pass a message of 'feel better' to the maknae, the sentiments were echoed by the other members. I found the maknae shivering beside a small coffee stall on the side of the market, "do you want something to drink?" he nodded shyly, I ducked inside and got a cup of hot apple cider for the maknae, who smiled and thanked me, he sipped on the hot drink as we walked to the car, "how long have you felt sick for?"
"last night? I noticed I had a bit of a sore throat last night but didn't think much of it, this morning when I woke up I was really achy- snf and I just felt lousy" I watched as the maknae's eyes grew unfocused, and I gently took the cup from him as he ducked away from me. "hektChhu! ehtChhu tCHuh hh- kTchu!"
"bless you!"
"Thanks" he sniffled and rubbed his nose, he rubbed his nose against his fist and then coughed a few times, "I'm sorry you're not feeling good Channie" I said as I handed him the cup back. He shrugged, "It's part of life." he said, he coughed again. "i'm ready for bed" he said with a yawn, he sniffled. "Once we get home I want you take a hot shower and eat something, and then we will get you to bed."
"I'm not really hungry" he said as we arrived at the car, I opened the door for him before going around and getting in the driver's side. "you still need to eat. I can't have you passing out on me. we'll find something gentle for you to eat." The maknae made a face, but he didn't argue which I took as a win.
Once we arrived home I sent him off to the shower while I went to the kitchen to hopefully find something easy to make. I was happy to find a can of soup that I could simply just heat up. While the soup heated up I prepared the room, I set up tissues and medicine be Jeonghan's bed, getting permission from him to let Chan sleep in his bed, as I wanted to keep an eye on him. I walked past the bathroom and heard Chan sneezing in the shower, I cringed in sympathy, he sounded miserable. I hoped the steam would help with the congestion. I went back to the kitchen and watched the soup, it was perfect timing because as I finished dishing the soup into a bowl Chan came out wearing one of Seungcheol's hoodies and an old pair of sweatpants he once told us he threw away because they were so worn out. He has his towel around his neck and his hair was damp, he sat down at the table and began eating, I stood behind him, taking the towel from around his shoulders and dried his hair while he ate. At one point he waved me off, he took a napkin from the center of the table, "HkTchu! ehh-kYchu hktcHHU"
"bless you" I said as I went back to drying his hair, once he hate enough to satisfy he pushed his bowl away, "can I go to bed now?"
"medicine first, but then yes. The medicine is by Jeonghan's bed, that's where I want you to sleep tonight just so I can keep an eye on you. He nodded and shuffled upstairs to the room. he took the medicine with a grimace on his face. Once he did he climbed into bed. "hey hyung... can you stay? Cuddle" he whispered the last word but I smiled and slid into the bed next to him, allowing the maknae to curl into my chest. "sleep well" I whispered
it was almost exactly three years ago today I posted my first fic, (a little early because I finished faster than expected lol) I felt like rewriting it, as I am sure a lot of you guys are aware about the whole taeil situation, I am just not including him because I don't support him.
alongside that I am wanting to start writing again =), so please request things! I have missed you all and I hope you guys missed me too =)
Original request:
Haechan and Mark of NCT are both photic sneezers, so could you please do a fic where during a particularly sunny day, they're both sneezy and the Dreamies get hyungs involved because they think both Mark and Haechan are sick?
"sickie": Haechan and Mark
caretaker: Johnny, Taeyong and Dreamies
Mark p.o.v
Summer was fading away and to celebrate the end of summer and the beginning of fall NCT Dream was having a picnic event, I was excited as it had been a while since I had been around the members due to promotions with nct 127. The day was warm and the sun was bright, which came with pluses and minuses, with the warmth it was more enjoyable to be outside, but the overly bright sunshine was a bit of a drag and it had already been causing some problems for me from the moment I stepped out of the van. I wandered over to Haechan who was standing under a pavilion, "you okay?" I asked, half as his best friend, half as his leader, "right now I am okay, but that's because I am not in the sun" Haechan said with a soft laugh. While the two of were chatting Jisung and Chenle came over to us, "hey hyungs, can you help us out, the manager is wanting us to move our bags out of the way so they're not in the frame while we are filming."
"yeah of course" I stepped out to follow the makanes, right away th3e sun reflected right into my eyes, "hekTcHu! ehhKtChU"
"bless you!"
"th-heTchuu! ah- thank you"
"are you okay hyung?" Jisung asked, the maknae looked concerned, "I'm alright thank you" right as the words left my mouth i heard Haechan's voice hitch slightly, "hehh-Chuu! uh-ChUU"
"bless you too, are you guys alright?" Chenle asked, the two of us exchanged a glance, "Yeah, just a sneeze"
"Haechan I could believe it's just a sneeze, you're allergic to everything, but Mark hyung, I am not sure" I heard Jisung half whisper to Chenle, "Guys really-" Haechan started to protest, but the two of them shook their heads, "actually I think we can take care of the bags on our own, but thanks anyways" Chenle said before him and Jisung hurried off, Haechan and I glanced at each other and shrugged.
Jisung p.o.v
Chenle's face mirrored the confusion and concern I felt for our hyungs who both had started sneezing, which was a bit surprsing, at first I thought it was the pollen count, knowing Haechan could easily be affected by it, but I couldn't be sure, as I had checked the pollen count that morning and only the grass pollen was high, and I couldn't remember which pollen Haechan was allergic to, and the fact that Mark was sneezing too was a bit concerning.
Chenle and I were having a hushed conversation about our concern for the two of them when Jeno and Jaemin came over, "what are you guys talking about?"
"Mark and Haechan, we're trying to figure out what is wrong with them" the two of them looked confused so I pointed over to the two, as if answering their question Mark sneezed twice.
Mark p.o.v
Haechan and I noticed that the maknaes seemed to think something was wrong with us so I made it my goal to convince them nothing was going on, which worked for all of two minutes as Haechan had "accidentally" reflected the sunlight off his phone right into my eyes, "dude what the h-ehh-KTChu! EhKTcHHu! ugh, dude really!" Haechan was laughing so hard that he did not even notice the maknaes looking at us in concern.
Jisung p.o.v
As Mark was sneezing it seemed like Haechan had turned away to cough, which caused us all to be concerned even more. "maybe message Taeyong hyung and find out what haechan is allergic to so we can rule out allergies?" Jeno suggested, as he looked over my shoulder and the two obviously sick members. "That's a good idea." I pulled out my phone and drafted a message to the leader of all leaders.
Taeyong p.o.v
as the leader sometimes you get confusing or even questionable messages, so very little surprises me, but every once in a while I get one that even throws me off, such as today. I knew NCT Dream was having a group picnic so you can only imagine my concern when the makane texted me "Hyung, random question, but what is Haechan allergic to?"
"why? did something happen?" I followed the message up with "cats and pollen are the only ones as far as I know"
"Do you know what kind of pollen?" Jisung asked, not yet answering my question, "not sure, I think mostly trees and flowers, not grass, only Doyoung, Yangyang and Johnny are allergic to grass"
"ah, ok, so we think Haechan and Mark might be sick, but we wanted to eliminate allergies before me actually told you" I rolled my eyes, "okay, I'll be there soon, thanks for letting me know"
'probably because SM doesn't know how to give them a break' I thought to myself as I walked down the hallway to Johnny's room, I technically could go by myself, but I didn't really want to be the only babysitter if they ended up being difficult. "Hey Johnny, do you want to help me kidnap Mark and Haechan"
"always, what is it this time?" he said as he hopped out of bed and slid his phone into his jeans pocket. "sick"
"dang, again?"
"guess so, Jisung contacted me" I explained as we walked to the car, "did he say symptoms, like do we need a vomit bag?"
"I don't think so? it sounded like cold symtoms from what Jisung said" I explained, I handed my phone to Johnny to read the messages as I drove, after a few seconds I heard Johnny say "hmm"
"what is it?"
"What if it's just their sunshin 'allergy'" he said putting air quotes around the word allergy, "becuase that would make sense, especially because they said both Mark and Haechan"
"I didn't even think about that, good job noticing that" I said, "also I'm not allergic to anything!" Johnny said adamantly, "oh please, you sneeze every time you spend time outside when the grass pollen is high and you sneeze when we mow the lawn."
"So does everyone"
"no, they really don't" I said with an eyeroll, "i swear you're even worse than Lucas and his 'I'm not allergic to cats, it's normal to sneeze'" I said with an eyeroll remembering the trouble that caused with Wayv and Superm, "that was a disaster" Johnny said laughing, the two of us arrived at the park NCT dream was filming at, and right away we were met with a group of concerned dreamies. "where are they?" I asked Renjun who was closest, "over under the pavillion" Johnny and I walked over, with the dreamies following.
Mark p.o.v
"dude, isn't that Taeyong hyung's car"
"I'm not falling for it"
"No I'm serious, I placed my hand on his head and forced him to look up, he squinted, "it is? that's odd"
"we should go check it out"
"agreed" Haechan said, we simultaneously put on our sunglasses and went out to greet the leader, who was followed by Johnny and the rest of NCT dream. "Hey, what's going on?" Haechan asked, he looked as confused as I felt, but everyone else looked concerned, Taeyong reached out and pressed his hand to my forehead. "they were worried you two were sick" Johnny explained as Taeyong moved his hand to Haechan's forehead. The two of use exchanged a look, "is it because of the sneezing?"
"yeah, and Haechan was coughing earlier!" Both of us were confused when it clicked, "he wasn't coughing, he was laughing at me"
"why?'
"because he thinks this is funny" I said as I reached over and removed Haechan's sunglasses, "screw you" he gasped out as he turned away "ktcHU ehh-TCHU tCHHU!!"
"bless you" the others said, the dreamies still looked concerned and confused but Johnny and Taeyong were trying to not laugh. "do you guys know what achoo syndrome is? or being photic means?" Taeyong asked, while Haechan was still glaring daggers at me while he rubbed his nose and readjusted his sun glasses, the dreamies shook their heads. "Basically it means that Haechan and I are 'allergic' to the sun, or any sudden bright lights, they make us sneeze, as Haechan just demonstrated for you" they all looked embarrassed while Johnny looked amused and Taeyong looked exasperated, "sorry for bringing you all out here for no reason" jisung apologized to taeyong who shrugged, "no problem being concerned, it would have been easier had the two of you been the adults you are and just said something" taeyong said with a pointed look towards Haechan and I. the two of us apologized to the dreamies and Taeyong and Johnny, whom still looked more amused than anything. Taeyong and Johnny left, Johnny was still clearly trying not to laugh, meanwhile Haechan and I were apologizing to the dreamies who looked half embarrassed half entertained.

The Giselle request was basically that Giselle gets sick (I think it was a migraine) during rehearsal for the Zoo stage and the NCT/Wayv members (from the stage take care of her)
It’s finally finished, I hope you like it!
Giselle was stuck. She had two choices, neither of which were any good. She could continue with her schedules as planned, knowing that the headache she had been sporting all day was well into migraine territory at this point. Or she could call out sick and go home. The boys would understand if she had a migraine, she knew a few NCT members suffered with them, including Taeyong.
Calling out wouldn’t go anyone any favors. Although Taeyong would immediately shut down any rumors about her participation, she needed to be there, and they needed someone there for spacing. She needed the practice, so she kept her mouth closed.
Giselle stayed quiet almost the whole way back to the company, she’d had a few photoshoots that left her eyes burning, and head pounding even more than before. Her manager asked her a few questions, mostly about if she was feeling okay, but let her be once she admitted she had a headache, and took medication for it in front of him.
She’d unknowingly run out of her prescription, and had ran to a pharmacy to pick up a few different options. There was probably one stuck in a few random spots but she wasn’t home to find them, and moving her head too much made her dizzy. None of the things she picked out had worked, plus trying to make sure she was taking everything correctly was exhausting.
The car rolled to a stop near the elevator in the parking garage, pulling her out of her trance. “Is your headache any better.”
“It’s fine.” Giselle shrugged.
“I’m going to run and get a few things for Ningning, then I need to take Karina and Winter home. but I’ll meet you in there in a little while, shouldn’t take more than an hour. But call me if you need anything, or if that headache gets worse.”
“I will.” Giselle sighed.
She slowly made her way up to the practice rooms. It took a moment to figure out which one to go in, but all it took was an earsplitting screech from Jeno and the subsequent loud hushing from Taeyong to figure out where to go.
The screech did nothing to help the pounding of her head, but the dizziness was going down the longer she was out of the car. She paused outside the door before pushing it open.
Giselle seemed to be the last person there. Jeno was being chased by Yangyang, while Hendery was yelling something at Yangyang to calm down in a mixture of Chinese and Korean.
“Jeno, give him back his hat. I need you to stretch before you get injured. I don’t care if he stolen your hat. That one is YangYangs. YangYang, go give Jeno back his hat now.” Taeyong said, his arms crossed, glaring at the duo.
“But Ten has my hat! YangYang stole it, then Ten stole it from him.” Jeno argued.
“But what does taking YangYang’s hat change? Two wrongs doesn’t make a right. We can talk about this later. Giselle is here, and you are making her uncomfortable. For God‘s sake, you are her seniors so start acting like it.” Taeyong said sternly.
~~~~
She got a notification as she sat down during a break, her manager was in standstill traffic trying to take Ningning home. She sighed, she wanted to go home but she had a job to do. Plus she couldn’t really leave anyway.
Giselle tried to drink some water, but her stomach immediately wanted to reject it. She tried to discreetly excuse herself to the bathroom, getting a nod but a slight eyebrow raise from Taeyong.
She swiftly walked to the bathroom, careful to not attract any unwanted attention. The bathroom was a empty but she locked herself in the farthest stall anyway. She didn’t really want to sit on the ground, but she leaned against the wall,
Unfortunately, she could feel the urge to puke dissipate, but the nausea still lingered. The florescent lights did nothing to help her pounding headache. She couldn’t even splash water on her face as she still had her makeup on (although there wasn’t much left at this point)
Begrudgingly, she left the bathroom and made her way back to the studio. She could feel exhaustion clinging to her bones, and her head throbbed in cadence with each step. Tears pricked her eyes as she opened the door.
Taeyong met her eyes through the mirror, and made his way over to her. The others seemed to still be on break although Jeno and Yangyang were working on dance.
Relax, you’re not in trouble.” Taeyong said gently, studying her face.
“Let’s talk in the hallway. It’s loud in here.” Taeyong said as she stayed quiet, unable to hide a wince as the music restarted again.
“Apparently something came up and the choreographer had to leave so we’re on our own.” Taeyong said, getting a nod from Giselle.
“But I do want you to be honest with me. Are you feeling alright? You were in there for a bit.” Taeyong asked.
“Not really.”
Giselle couldn’t take it anymore, the tears started to flow freely as she all but burst out crying. She covered her face with her hands, embarrassed. She almost tripped over literally nothing as the dizziness returned.
“Can I hug you?” Taeyong asked gently, getting another nod in reply.
Taeyong wrapped her up in his strong arms as she cried. He put a palm on her forehead before using that hand to rub her back. He waited until she’d calmed down a bit before speaking.
“You don’t feel warm or anything, but you’re still quite pale. Where’s your manager? I think you should go home.”
“She’s stuck in traffic trying to take Ningning home. She won’t be back for a while. Even if we find someone else, they’d probably end up in the mess too.”
“Ok. I’ll get that figured out. We should stop rehearsal anyway. It’s almost 2 am. WayV has to be at the salon by 10.” Taeyong said, “In the meantime why don’t you rest on the couch.
Giselle nodded, the exhaustion had hit and she didn’t really have the energy to do much else. She was led in the overly loud room, but Taeyong seemed to notice her discomfort, and called for the music to be shut off.
“Hey. Hendery, Yangyang, why don’t you two head out. We’ve hit our goals for this practice, and you have to be up in like seven hours anyway.”
Hendery nodded and went to collect his things while Yangyang stood there blearily for a moment before following the older. Jeno stood there awkwardly, trying to figure out what to do. Taeyong helped them get their things off the couch, putting his stuff on the floor too, leaving the couch clear.
Giselle went to sit down, the change in position leaving her gasping in pain as the pounding grew unbearable, and her ears rung. She took a deep breath and swallowed the impending bile. Taeyong tried to talk to her but she had her eyes screwed shut and the ringing made comprehending anything near impossible.
She opened her eyes to see that the lights had been dimmed, and there was a trashcan below her head, the other members and a few staff members were gathered around her.
She managed to breathe out a quick “Hold on” while she waited for the pain to recede, which it kind of did. It was worse than it was before the spike, but at least it went down.
“What happened?” Taeyong asked.
“Migraine spiked when I sat down. It went down a bit. I’ll be fine.” Giselle tried to waive him off.
“You’ve done all of this with a migraine? Damn.” Jeno remarked.
“Jeno!” Taeyong hissed, draping a jacket over her.
“What? I’m genuinely impressed. Although it’s definitely biting her now.” Jeno shrugged.
“Do you feel more comfortable now? Let me know if you need anything. I’ll go talk to my manager for a moment. Close your eyes and rest for a while. Jeno, you can leave too.” Taeyong said, gently patting her shoulder.
Giselle did as she was told. She closed her eyes and drifted off, somehow ignoring the other occupants of the room. Jeno was getting his stuff together nearby, and once that shuffling stopped, there were hushed voices in the corner.
The next time she woke up, her ears rang again and she was completely disoriented. It took her a moment to right herself, and she scrambled to move as her stomach lurched. She managed to roll onto the floor over the bin as she let out a retch, a torrent of water of water sprayed into the bin.
She felt a warm hand on her back and she cringed. She really didn’t want to be seen like this. It seemed to be too late though.
“It’s okay. It’s just me. Jeno left and my manager is on the phone in the hallway.”
“I’m sorry.” Giselle cringed, leaning back against the couch.
“I wasn’t aware it was possible to escape a full blown migraine without being sick.”
“It is if you take meds early enough. I ran out. Won’t be refilled until tomorrow.”
“Oh. Give me a second.” Taeyong scurried away and she stared at the mirrored wall in front of her.
She didn’t bother tracking him with her eyes, or moving her head, just staring at her own dim reflection from the other side of the room. A shadow past through her line of sight and she flinched.
“Sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you.” Taeyong said gently, holding up a small silver blister, “Is this what you take?”
Giselle took it from him, staring at the small font on the back of the package, before giving a quick hum of agreement. Taeyong took it from her shaking hands and opened it.
“What? No. I can’t take your meds.”
“You obviously need it. Plus it’s about to expire anyway.” Taeyong argued gently.
“It’s illegal. And what if you need it?”
“I’ll deal. I have more than one in my bag anyway. It’s fine. Just take it. I want you to feel better.”
“It’s still illegal.”
“It’ll be our little secret. Plus I’ve already opened it.” Taeyong said.
Giselle nodded, she was far too tired to continue arguing, plus she knew she wasn’t going to win. She let it dissolve in her mouth, thankful she had some left over green tea to wash it down with, but still took a lot of effort to not gag on it.
“There you go. Your manager and Ningning are on their way. They should be here in about half an hour. But I’ll let you rest for now.” Taeyong said as she laid back down.
“Okay.” Giselle whispered.
Taeyong settled nearby and she just let herself drift off. She didn’t know how much time passes before she was gently woken up by someone stroking her hair.
“Aeri Unnie.” Ningning whispered.
“Mmm” Giselle groaned.
“It’s time to go home, Manager Unnie is in the car.”
“I’ll help her down if you’ll get her stuff.” Taeyong offered.
“I can’t ask you to do that. I can help her.”
“It’s not a big deal, plus it shouldn’t be too hard.“
“I can walk.” Giselle interrupted, hiding her discomfort as she sat up.
“Nope.”
“Not happening” Ningning and Taeyong said at the same time.
“It’ll look weird if Sunbaenim helps me down. The last thing any of us need is that. I feel a bit better. Just help me up and I’ll be fine.” Giselle said.
“I don’t know…” Ningning trailed off.
“I just want to get home. without any unnecessary fuss.” Giselle stood up, a bit too quickly as black spots danced around her vision.
She squeezed the muscles in her legs and steadied herself, trying to hide the discomfort. Taeyong grabbed her arm to steady her anyway and she sighed.
“I know you do. Let’s just get on with it. It’s late and I know you’re exhausted too.” Taeyong said gently.
Ningning grabbed her bag and they headed out the door, Taeyong’s hand on her back, as he made sure she wouldn’t fall. They made it to the elevator, Taeyong putting his hand over her eyes to shade them from the bright lights.
The elevator seemly took forever to get down to the parking garage. The light still hurt her eyes, and the elevator made her feel extra dizzy. The doors finally opened and she could see their van waiting nearby.
She resisted the urge to run towards it as it wouldn’t end up well. She did pick up the pace slightly, and climbed in the back of the van. Taeyong quickly put her seat belt on for her before waving and closing the door.
The ride back to the dorms went by quickly. She was more annoyed about the fact that she still had to get to bed. Her headache had improved, but she could still feel it, and she was in desperate need for a shower.
“Are you ready for bed?” NingNing asked as she opened the door to the dorm.
“Shower first.” Giselle sighed.
“Ok. Go head in and I’ll bring you some clothes. I think the others already got your bed ready, but I told them to go to bed and leave you alone.”
“Good. I don’t need anyone else to see me like this.” Giselle sighed.
She quickly took a shower, too tired to really mess with her hair, and dried off, seeing her favorite pair of pajamas on the counter, as promised. She left the bathroom to head to her room, seeing a few different medications and some water on her beside table. She was asleep the second her head hit the pillow.
She woke up the next morning with a text from Taeyong.
“Hey, it’s Taeyong. You’re probably embarrassed about last night, but you have nothing to worry about. It was just another day for me lol. I sent you something to eat, I hope you’re feeling better, and let me know if you need anything.”
(this was written specifically for a very special friend of mine. Hope you enjoy girl ily <3)
Hoshi p.o.v
I had recently been struggling with a lot of insecurities about my singing. Despite many positive comments the few negative ones were beginning to wear me down and disappoint me. My bandmates told me time and time again to ignore them, but I just couldn't. No matter how hard I tried.
Because of the comments I wanted to spend more time working on my singing, even though all my bandmates assured me my singing was fine, Seungkwan did agree to work with me on my vocals. I was happy that he agreed, despite his reluctance. Seungkwan said he would reserve a practice room for us to use. I felt so happy at how, despite how he was younger, he still willingly stepped up to watch out for me.
The night before I was supposed to meet the main vocalist I got a the worst notification on my phone, High pollen count tomorrow I groaned out loud. My voice was always a bit rough, but when the pollen count was high it would trigger my allergies, and my voice would be even worse. I almost cancelled, but after consideration I decided not to. Just in case the forecast was wrong, and besides, Seungkwan put time and energy into making sure this worked out for me. I couldn't throw his work away.
The next morning I woke up very congested with an annoying buzz in my nose. I sniffled, which was a mistake, as the buzzing sensation turned more fierce. I fought the urge because I knew once I started sneezing I wouldn't stop. I went downstairs to eat something small before I left. Seungcheol and Joenghan were at the table talking when I came down. "Morning Soonyoung" they both greeted me cheerfully. "morning hyungs" I tried to not cringe at my voice, which was very obviously congested. "allergies?" Jeonghan noticed right away, I shrugged and avoided their eye contact. "Did Seungkwan already leave?" I asked, trying to change the topic, the two exchanged a look, but nodded. "Okay, I'll head out, I don't want to keep him waiting" They nodded, "You feeling okay Soon?"
"yep!" neither of them seemed to believe me, but they wished me luck and told me to have fun. I grabbed a quick snack and left. Once outside I groaned out loud, I could feel the pollen attacking me, and on top of that I had forgotten to request a ride, which meant I was walking. I sniffled and stifled a sneeze into my fist. Which caused my tickly throat to get irritated and I coughed a few times. I sniffled and began walking. It was only about 2 miles to the studio, which wasn't bad, but it made it much harder and feel so much longer when I was stopping to sneeze every few minutes. I was getting frustrated, because I knew now that I had started sneezing the chances of being able to stop were slim.
I arrived at the studio and was met by Seungkwan with a big welcoming smile on his face, "hey hyung!" he smiled, but I saw he looked a bit concerned. "Hey Kwan" I noticed my voice had gotten more congested. "Ready to start?" He asked with a bright smile, but concerned eyes. "y-heh-heKtchu! Ehktchhu! snf yeah"
"Bless you!"
"thank you" I sniffled, Seungkwan glanced at me, "what?"
"You feeling alright hyung?"
"yep!" I said with extra enthusiasm. He looked disbelieving. "well, we should get started then." He opened a notebook up, "in here is a bunch of notes I've been given by-"
"HehhkTChu! EhhKtcHu! kkTchu!"
"bless you. These are notes from my vocal coach. So I thought maybe we should start with them"
"You get notes?"
"of course, everyone does. Even when someone is more advanced in a position it doesn't mean they're flawless. Everyone can always improve" I nodded, his words were wise and mature, surprising me, as he was typically the more goofy member. I smiled a bit, He began to explain the 'theory of tone' which sounded complicated but was interesting. We only got about 5 minutes in before I was overwhelmed by the tickly sensation. "Excuse me, just a second" I said softly, my breath hitching through it. "hehhKtchu! hKtchu! hhktChhu! ktchu!"
"bless-"
"hekttCHu- hh-ehh-Ktchu! KktChu!"
"bless you! hyung, I think today might not be the best day to do this. With how high the pollen count is and how much you're sneezing it might be better to just take the day off."
"But, you put in the effort to make this happen. And I need the vocal training."
"OK hyung, two things. Number one, this 'effort' I put in, it can be saved. We can do this another time. Nothing is going to change. Number 2, You don't actually need vocal lessons. You're a very good singer and are a very talented vocalist." I was surprised to hear him say that. Seungkwan calling me a good singer and talented vocalist was high praise for me, I was flattered and shocked. "thank you" I said softly, he shrugged it off, "you look miserable hyung. Let's get you home and get some medicine in you and get you resting." I nodded, too itchy and miserable to fight it. "thanks hngktch ehhngttch" I stifled the sneezes against my fist, he shook his head, "you know that's really bad for you right?"
"yeah, but it feels better. Gets rid of the itch more" I explained. He gave me a strange look, "I don't think-"
"HeHKtchu! ehh-KTchu! HekTChu!"
"Bless you, I was about to say, I don't think stifling is going to help you, I think that makes it worse" I shrugged, even though I knew he's right. "c'mon sneezy, let's get you home" we gathered our stuff and began walking out, but he stopped, "Will you be alright walking back? I can call a driver if we need"
"I can walk back, that's fine."
"you sure?"
"positive" I said with a smile, he looked skeptical but followed me outside, I sniffled as right away the combination of pollen and sudden sunlight reached my already sensitive nose, "bless you"
"I didn't sn-HeKtcHu! EhhKTchhu- hktchU"
"As I said" he said with a playful smirk, I rolled my eyes, but fought down a smile. We started walking, "hyung?"
"hmm?"
"What made you want vocal lessons?" I avoided his eyes, embarrassed of my answer, "hate comments" I admitted, embarrassed, his eyes shone with sympathy, "hyung, I know it's hard, but try and ignore them. It's best for you and for your mental health. Try and focus on the positive comments. I know it's hard. But I've seen a lot. You've grown and improved so much. You should be proud." I smiled, getting emotional, and the tear that fell from my eye was definitely from my allergies. "Thanks Kwan" he smiled, "no problem. Just making sure our tiger is still the toughest one out there" I rolled my eyes at his comment, but laughed. That kid really knows how to make someone feel better.
Even when I knew he struggled with insecurities at times, he didn't hesitate to step up and encourage me, it made me really feel noticed and loved. Something only certain people can make you feel.
