Jingjie doesn't give a damn about another Void corpse appearing out of nowhere. Not his corpse, not his problem. He's too busy cooking fine meals to worry!

Cooking is tiring work, though, so our boy needs some time to relax and unwind in the sauna after he's stocked up the pantry a bit.

Kwahu has a persona weapon, and we have a Persona Eltex Staff that I keep meaning to give to Tokori, so I imagine that Lansa probably feels a bit left out, especially considering he's the "melee" one of the Jones Boys.

This quest offers a persona zeushammer as a reward, so let's get Lansa some new gear!!

I like these travellers who just showed up and asked for beer without spinning some tale about "wanting to get their friend's captors drunk". Their honesty amused me, and so we gave them the beer they were after. I hope they find a new home soon.

Jingjie and Sneer are getting along, which is nice. Always love to see the family bonds in action.

Speaking of the Crowley-Foxgrove clan, baby Efa is doing well. She is a very giggly baby, always smiling and making the people around her happy. It's very sweet.

Oop, looks like Mechi's geriatric Great Dane needs another upgrade. Othello is sixteen now, and doing pretty well aside from this heart attack. Not to worry, though! Alistair is on the job!

The other Alistair (Alastor) in the colony is settling in well enough. After testing out the hot tub last time, Bell has decided to give the sauna a try, and Tupelo seems to have taken the opportunity to inspect that highmate "perfect body" for herself. Good for her, I guess!

While it may spurn Kwahu, and theyve had a little talk about it, I still find it funny to think of Bell having an unrequited crush just cause Kwahu is so straight forward and nice despite his misantropy. Even as an aroace who finds it really uncomfy when people *like me* like that. Maybe it’s just my love of tragedy/drama. He can get *over it* of course, but haha. Kwahu the heartbreaker!!

Also Lapu is being such a DAD about it with the ‘he’s cute huh?’ Just cause one of your boys came around the fluid sexuality bend doesn’t mean they all will daaaaddd! And I like it that the ‘nicer’ of the bros isn’t necessarily ‘more likely to be romantic’. The mean/cold/closed off = aroace trope can get old (though I love your boys and they’re more complex than that). Sometimes a nice guy can also be unavailable.

We’ll see tho! Keep an eye on them interaction bubbles! I wanna know if Bell ever flirts with annyyone haha.

I will be keeping a very close eye on Bell. I think Tupelo is our only unattached adult right now (other than Jingjie and Dani, but they're both only 13, which I barely consider "adult", and if 39-year-old Bell even thinks about it, we're outposting him), so I wonder if we'll get catboy/tree babies before the end of this, but eh.

And yeah, I can't resist the urge to have Lapu be a little bit of a menace sometimes XD. He tries to be tough and gruff, but Mechi and co. had to inherit their mischievous streak from somewhere.

You know, I've never made my own xenotype with the Biotech DLC. Maybe we could build a gene laboratory and try to give Bell back some agency of his own as a sidequest while we wait for the TokiLiang wedding and for Acolyte Nikus to leave before we go after the Archonexus? 🤔

I’m so happy other people have latched onto him like I have. I didn’t think I’d like a new highmate this late in the run and fully expected whoever Kwahu got to be outpost-ed, but Bell melted my heart immediately and I just have to keep him.

The Fallen Imperium might be a bit icky with their highmate trafficking, but god damn do they know how to pick a good twink!!

The pit gate is closed at last!! I'm sure everyone is glad to have it dealt with, perhaps with the exception of Sneer, who really seemed to enjoy hanging out down there and digging tunnels. He'll just have to make do with the deep drill from now on.

I feel like it's been a while since any mystical shamans contacted us. I know that Tokori's fingers can't be restored through psycasts or the creepjoiner's unnatural healing, so I don't expect a mystical shaman to help, but... y'know. Gotta explore every angle.

At XiaoLiang's urging, we yeet Tokori off to see what the mystical shaman can do. He's helped us out before, so maybe he'll come through again?

LMAO I didn't expect him to just nope out of there like that. Poor shaman doesn't know what to do when confronted with a necromancer's mangled hands.

That's alright; everyone loves Tokori no matter how many fingers he has or doesn't have. It was funny to try nonetheless, and he got to stretch his legs for a bit on the walk home. All's well that ends well!

The mining is done, and all we have left to do with the pit gate is close it. To do that, we need to cut our way through the final section of gore and face the dreadmeld itself...

Oop, time to dip!! Jingjie ducks into his pocket dimension and pops out on the surface, but everyone else has to scramble for the exit through the mess of fleshbeasts that the dreadmeld left in its wake.

Since Kwahu was briefly dead, he lost his role as the moral guide of our ideology. Everyone has been very upset since, because they insist that the role be filled, so Kwahu gets bustled into the temple to take up the mantle once again. Doesn't he look so excited?? 😄

Good job, we have a moral guide again! Everyone can calm down and stop complaining.

Randy Random decided a family reunion was in order, perhaps to celebrate the role change, but... I don't agree. Kwahu only has one daughter, and we've had her with us since the day she was born. We're not taking in any strays who already have factions and trade caravans to look after them.

Sorry, Cecelia, but after a moment of messing with Character Editor, I can safely say that Kwahu is NOT THE FATHER 🎉

Also, on impulse, I purchased a Persona Eltex Staff from a passing trade ship. I was thinking it could go to either Jut or Tokori.

Tokori probably has difficulty handling a gun at the moment due to the missing finger situation, but he can use his necromancy to summon thralls and stuff during combat, so a powerful psychic staff might be useful. Then again, Jut has been using the same knife since he first showed up, and it might be time for an upgrade. Also, Vilorsum's "poker face" trait seems like it'd be more useful for Jut, since he does more social work than Tokori does.

What do you guys think? Should Vilorsum the staff go to Jut or Tokori? Or someone else? Or nobody?

Kwahu is recovering well from his resurrection sickness and has spent a lot of time in the bath. I imagine that's on Tokori's orders, since Toki loves the bath so much. Nice of him to share sometimes.

Jut takes his oldest three children in tow for an important mission: clear and close the pit gate before anything happens to put new baby Efa in danger! There's still plenty of mining to be done, and a bunch of flesh to destroy, not to mention... the dreadmeld 😰

I imagine some of the group are more excited than others about this mission.

Sneer is having a grand time mining on his own while the others explore. He probably loves digging and singing and occasionally collapsing with bouts of narcolepsy and repeating it ad nauseam.

We have found three tomes, two corpses, and one archotech arm in these flesh sacks. Why do the fleshbeasts have so many books?? Maybe they're more well-read than I gave them credit for originally 🤔

Well, we've done a bunch of exploring, and all that's left now is to mine all the ores and defeat the dreadmeld. Easy peasy...?

Everyone is preparing for the newest addition to the colony! Tupelo helps escort Beau to the hospital, where Jut and Tokori are waiting.

Tupelo is going to be the main midwife while Tokori stands by in case of emergency, because I imagine you'd feel a lot better about giving birth if your midwife had all their fingers ready to catch a slippery newborn. Just personal preference, I guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Lmao, poor XiaoLiang probably did NOT expect to get front-row seats to a childbirth after he picked a fight with Cora in the last update, but here we are. That's what he gets for being so eager to get into a punch-up.

Now all that's left to do is bring the proud older siblings in to meet their baby sister, and decide on a name!!

What is my colonists' problem with each other's foreheads?? This is AT LEAST the third time this has caused a social fight.

The bright side of this fight is that watching Tokori patch XiaoLiang up afterwards gave Kwahu the motivation to finally get over his resurrection sickness and leave the hospital. He's back on his feet! Yay!

Cora is fine, by the way. She fixed herself up immediately and went right back to gardening, with help from Dani. All's well!

... or, well... everything would be going well if Randy Random didn't decide he hates women today. Thanks a lot, Randy. 🙄

AH! There's no time to worry about a psychic drone right now, though!!! This is priority one! Get to the hospital!!!!

Tokori is pretty good at walking off his post-resurrection psychic comas at this point, so he's back to playing doctor and taking care of Kwahu as he recovers from being resurrected.

I don't think Tokori would appreciate Kwahu's little 'waste a finger' comment, and would have no qualms confronting him about it.

Also, I think that something must have bugged with Kwahu's royal title. Ivy has been his appointed heir since our very first colony, but I wonder if all the colony jumping in our search for The Archonexus has broken it somehow?

Either way, dying apparently hasn't changed the fact that The Fallen Imperium wants Kwahu in their ranks and is even willing to promote him to baron with a new (or maybe just freshly re-issued?) quest! We'll have to decide if we want to do that later, once the poor guy can actually stand on his own again.

There are four out of the five Jones boys in the hospital now, and I'm sure it is not doing anything good for poor Squashbug's stress levels. Still, they're in good hands and should recover quickly enough.

In the meantime, XiaoLiang is dragging the fifth Jones boy and our two androids into the pit gate to see if Jut, Sneer, and Thralir are alright. The three of them are a little scratched and bruised after their spat with the last of the fleshbeasts, but nothing we couldn't fix with a few well-placed bandages.

In brighter news, the only fleshbeast left in the cave system seems to be the dreadmeld! Hooray...?

While everyone else ducks out of the cave to eat, grab water, and take a quick nap, Sneer decides to stay behind and get some mining done. Observe:

And Step 2, like five minutes later. What a champ. An admirable work ethic to be sure! Still, he should come out of the pit now. Don't want him accidentally taking on a dreadmeld by himself.

As soon as Sneer hauled himself out of the pit, he ran to hang out with his wife, and presumably gush about how much he loves mining and being underground. They're both so frickin' cute!!!!!!

I had to reload the game SO MANY times because this idiot necromancer kept cutting off his thumbs. Finally got it down to an index finger, which means he now only has two fingers on his right hand. Still, it's a fair trade to make if it means we get Kwahu back <3

And then, Tokori's fiancé came to whisk him away to a hospital bed so he could sleep off his psychic coma. The Jones Family is whole once again, and now we can really turn our attention to that pit gate!
