We have guests from The Fallen Imperium hanging about at the moment, and they're being as rude as they usually are to our android colonists. Alistair doesn't have a half-brother to be offended on behalf of (we made him, so we know for sure), but he's easily ragebaited it seems.

No prizes for guessing who won (it was Alistair).

Cora has taken a shine to Rakoto's deserter armour after we captured her. I have an idea for something we can do with Rakoto in the next update to keep things interesting while we wait on the wedding... Stay tuned~

I like to imagine that Sneer's first (and only) crush so far has been Thralir. I don't know how well that meshes with his whole "timeless one" thing, but maybe he was too busy learning languages and how to tie ties st to bother with romance before this?

Other couples in the colony are enjoying some... interesting pillow talk. I'm not sure nuclear warfare would get me in the mood, but I'm not going to judge. Whatever gets them going, I guess.

Demetra the alligator recovered and decided not to join our colony, sadly, so we'll have to tame her the old-fashioned way. Mechi has more than just lion backup this time, but his limbs are replaceable anyway, so it's all good, no matter the outcome.

No, I will not elaborate.

Randy Random wants us to have new pets, I guess. Who am I to deny him?

On an unrelated note, has anyone else seen the trailer for Planet Zoo 2? I'm so excited!!!

Mechi takes a lion for backup when he tends to our new reptilian guest, though... would a lion beat an alligator in a fight? I feel like a lion couldn't beat a crocodile, but I'm Australian, not... Floridian, so I don't know much about gators.

Oh, hey! Looks like Crimp doesn't fancy the idea of being eaten by an alligator and has decided to rethink his ways. Good job, Crimp.

Continuing the 'pawns with facial hair' updates, our only natural-meditation colonist has grown enough anima grass to do a fancy tree ritual! Good job, Flapjack. Proud of you.

A nice anima linking ritual next to some formerly steel nature shrines. They've been revamped by our local alchemist Sneer, and we'll deconstruct them for resources soon, then rebuild new steel ones to repeat the process. Stonks! 👍📈

Little Commissar Creepjoiner Couple <3 <3

I love them, they're so cute.

They just can't keep their hands (er, tentacles?) off each other!!

We'll leave them to their romance and turn our attention to a trade caravan that's leaving...

The one time I don't meticulously examine every caravan member for deserter armour (because I was watching adorable creepjoiner romance), there's a goddamn deserter. Fortunately, Thralir has the Archon-exclusive 'shortskip' psycast unlocked, so she pops over to deal with the problem.

Good job, Thralir!! I'm glad you're on our side now.

We swiped the deserter's armour (her name is Rakoto) and dumped her in prison with Crimp. She's unwaveringly loyal, but I'm sure we can find some way to make her useful...

Happy birthday, Spike!!! Can you guys believe our teeny tiny lizard baby is TEN YEARS OLD already?? It feels like only yesterday that her mum was turning ten!

Speaking of Spike's mum, Spike takes after her with an interest in melee combat and a desire to punch anything that opposes her. Now Ivy can finally understand how her dads feel when she keeps throwing herself at the frontlines with only a talking dagger and a parasitic tentacle whip to defend herself.

Is there a "bookworm" trait for RimWorld? I know there's one in The Sims, but I don't think I've seen one in RimWorld. If there was one, I think Spike would have it. She reads A LOT.

Beau is celebrating Spike's birthday by... making sure that Sneer is setting a good example, I guess? She doesn't need to worry. Sneer is a very devoted big brother/cool older cousin figure to the kids at Steelforge Lake and would never do anything that he thought they would mimic to their detriment.

I've had the phrase "Evil and Intimidating Flapjack" running through my head all day, so now I hope it haunts you as much as it haunts me. You're welcome ❤️

Beau works so fast when she's having fun! Flapjack's bionic leg is finished in only a few hours, and we quickly prepare to get rid of his infection in the most efficient way possible: by cutting off the whole foot!

Yay!!! Hopefully, your cool new bionic helps take your mind off the horrible overstimulation from the insect antennae. Sorry, Flapjack.

Guess who else is back on their feet?? Melissa is up and about as a newly-turned sanguophage, and the lack of taukai tumours is a vast improvement! Everyone in the colony likes her a bit more now—though they still consider her 'disfigured' thanks to the missing eye. We haven't told her that her new boyfriend is an asshole traitor in jail though.

We decided to let her look at the styling bench to see if she could find a nice hairstyle to match her new sanguophage-ness, and this adorable little headkerchief was too sweet to pass up. Isn't she just the cutest little granny??? 💕💕

I think seeing Melissa's new hair has made Ivy wonder about trying a new style—and also left Jut missing the hair he had before the whole torture cult debacle.

Upon waking from his surgery, Flapjack is... less-than-thrilled by his new insect antennae moustache. Oops. Poor guy is going to have to start wearing headphones or a blindfold to balance out all this new information and avoid sensory overload.

Oh, well. At least it can't get any worse.

Except that it CAN get worse! Randy Random decided that our overstimulating implant wasn't enough and decided to fuck up Flapjack's already-injured foot as well. Nice one, Randy. Pick on the guy who's already suffering.

Still, we're a transhumanist colony goddamit, and we will cut off the offending foot to replace it with a better one! Hooray for the strength and certainty of steel!

In the meantime, Sneer is training our animals using topics that any boomer would believe he's an expert in. Anyone with blue hair and pronouns (and an alien girlfriend, void-gained alchemy powers, and an unusual accent) must be an expert in liberalism. Good job, Sneer!

It looks like Thralir has finally been convinced to get to the hospital so her wounds can be patched up, and of course, she chose the bed right beside Sneer. They're not allowed to officially share a bed until they get married, but they seem happy enough with this arrangement for now <3

Crimp is still alive, but in jail. We're trying to re-recruit him, but I don't know if we'll let him stay or if we'll outpost him. He is technically still Melissa's boyfriend, but he was mean to Alistair and also summoned a bunch of horrible monsters to attack us, so I dunno. Let me know your thoughts.

Hmmm, a present from some visitors and plenty of medicine to play around with... I think it's time for some more transhumanism in our transhumanist colony!!

Yes! Implant those antennae! Flapjack's moustache is about to be EVEN MORE FABULOUS!!!!!

Hey there gracie! Thought I'd show you the fact i got one of these mugs during the anomaly series, especially since it works so well with my vibe of "friendly gremlin who befriends & Is the Horrors". Pretty sure it's been at least a year since i got this & it hasn't faded at all yet!

Ahhh, Elpis, my beloved!!!! I haven't seen anyone who has any of the merch other than one of my brothers (and me). It's so fun to see it out in the wild!! I'm glad the picture isn't fading; that's good. Very on-brand for Pete Complete stuff to be good quality, I suppose.

I hope every sip from your mug is fantastic and fearsome! Live, Love, Provoke The Void!!

We've drafted everyone to rush over and fend off the sightstealers (with help from the autocannon turrets), but while we tried to get some of the useless less-competent fighters inside, Flapjack was caught up in the midst of a sightstealer frenzy with only a wooden log and an abysmally low melee skill to defend himself. Before long, the bests had clawed him onto the ground...

... thankfully, Jut was quick on the scene with his emergency sanguophage first-aid, and also managed to shoo away the last of the sightstealers that the other colonists and the turrets hadn't dealt with. Flapjack didn't manage to defeat any of them. He's really bad at combat.

He's recovering well enough in the hospital, though, and at least he's been enjoying Squashbug's cooking while he gets over his injuries. Nice to know there's always bright spots in the colony!

Thralir also got a bit scratched up in the fight, but unlike Flapjack, she's thrilled by it. A masochist to the core, that one. While I'm happy she's enjoying herself, I do wish she'd get a Band-Aid to at least stop the bleeding before she starts relaxing in the bath. Silly girl, I love her.

So our only female Housekeeper Cat, Hecate, just gave birth to the teeniest tiniest little kitten the world has ever seen, and I don't think anything I could draw can do him justice.

Fortunately, the Cat Distribution System has previously seen fit to bestow a black kitten upon me, so I have photographs, which are a bajillion times better than any drawings I could do!! Behold, a teeny void:

Our newest housekeeper cat is named Macduff, to continue the theme of Macbeth characters. Hopefully, he doesn't end up needing to kill Macbeth, who I assume is his father.

In slightly less exciting news, it seems as if our colonists are bickering with each other. Of course nobody in the colony can match Sneer's dirtmole-given mining ability, but you don't have to mock them for it, Ivy!!

Oh, fantastic... more fighting. It looks like our newest colonist, (formerly blind) healer Crimp, is having trouble adjusting to the fact that we see androids as people around here. His ideology views them as nothing more than tools. Alistair is prepared to show him the error of his ways, however...

I'm sure that's nothing to worry about.

Melissa is enjoying being able to see by taking a relaxing swim in the lake that gives Steelforge Lake its name. She did choose the more out-of-the-way bathing spot, but I doubt anyone in the colony is particularly thrilled by the scantily-clad tumour-ridden septuagenarian hanging around. Perhaps there's a way we could fix that, though...?

And by "we", I do mean Jut. Godspeed, Jut! The more sanguophages we have, the merrier!

Et voilà! We now have not one but two sanguophages in our colony, and people no longer hate Melissa for being ugly, nor do they have the mood debuff that comes with having a disgusting colonist around!

Melissa will have to sleep off her vampire transformation for a few days before we can see her in all her tumour-free glory, and Jut is a bit achey from the gene loss, too. All around, though, I think this was the best choice for everyone. Hooray for Vampire Granny!

Shocking news that absolutely NOBODY is shocked by: Randy Random hates slow-burn romance.

It looks like our other blind healer, Melissa, is impressed at Crimp's immediate willingness to try picking a fight with the melee-god sanguophage as soon as he set foot in the colony. Crimp is happy to find a like-minded lady in his new home, and the two are officially dating. Wonders abound!

Well, we have two blind healers and no real use for their unnatural healing aside from this, so... Melissa is officially only a half blind healer now! I thought it would be nice if she could see her new boyfriend properly, after all, even if she looks a bit... hmm... different.

You know what they say: an eye for an eye!

Yeah, sorry about that, Crimp. I keep meaning to turn her into a sanguophage so everyone loses the "disgusting colonist" debuff, but I just haven't gotten around to it yet. You'll have to try and ignore the deformed, slimy, melted, tumour-ness for a little while. Sorry. You'll just have to love her for what's inside until then.

We're so close to the end of our story, and yet Randy Random is still finding ways to get us new colonists! Everybody, say hello to Hughes Thornley, who prefers to go by "Crimp". He's a blind healer, just like Melissa, but he's not a cancer patient, and he comes with the benefit of having a nice beard.

We don't really need an unnatural healer in our colony since a) we already have one and b) most of our injuries are fixed by bionics anyway, but we have room for one more, and we would be cruel to turn away a blind old man. Welcome to Steelforge Lake, Crimp!

Crimp is already off to a terrible start in the colony by deciding to pick a fight with another creepjoiner: resident sanguophage and melee-master-with-the-psychic-slaughter-ability, Jut.

I hope you know what you're getting yourself into, Crimp, because if it comes down to a fight between the two of you, I know I won't be betting on you.

Speaking of creepjoiners, we were lucky enough to have forewarning of Sneer's period cramps psychic-agony downside thanks to a surgical inspection we performed when he first arrived. What's the harm in trying that little trick again? We'll also give Doctor Tokori some melee backup in case things get... metalhorror-y.

Hmmm... nothing suspicious to report yet. Still, we'll keep an eye on our newest colonist for now. You never know what strange things the void has in store for us next...
