Mammon got his creditcard, Leviathan can get his figure and money back, and I..I got a pact. I have no clue how I truly benefit through any of this, and neither does Mc. After the whole pact debacle, mc and I just head to bed. Finally, I can have my well-deserved beauty sleep.
The next morning, we got ready for school. We usually grab something ‘edible’ here in hell, but luckily for us, everyone was having breakfast.
“Why not join them?” Mc pointed out. I guess it wouldn’t hurt. I say with intense foreshadowing…
Sitting down in a random empty chair, no one truly said anything to me until Asmodues bursted into laughter. Next to him was Satan, the yellow blonde.
Satan grumbled in annoyance. “Asmodues, keep your voice down,” he sighs,” If mammon hears you, he’ll get upset again, and we won’t hear the end of it.” I guess word got out of the pact quickly.
Amsodues just shrugs, “Eh, he won’t be awake for a while. He’s really not a morning demon, you know? And anyway, how can you NOT laugh after what’s happened?” Amsodues laughs even more.
He leans his elbows on the table,” I mean, this is Mammon.” He turns and points towards me. “And yet, a human was able to play him like a fiddle and force him into a pact.” Satan shakes his head slightly, his face turning away from everyone as he tries to hold back his laughter.
Asmodeus' smile widened, “Hey, I hear you laughing, Satan! I know you think it’s funny too!”
Chewing sounds intense on my right, on my side of the table, was Beelzebub. Shoving all kinds of food into his face. “Mmm, this is delicious. The meat is so tender…” Drool slips down his chin, geez he can eat.
Mc is on my right, next to them was a grumpy and annoyed Leviathan. “Beel, calm down. You’re biting chunks off your plate along with your food.”
“How the hell do you do some shit like that?” I really want to know what’s going on here.
The next thing I knew, the 5th oldest was right in my face. Geez, back up.
“Anyway, I have to say I’m surprised. I never thought an average human like you would be able to make a pact with Mammon–certainly not THIS fast.” Asmodeus comments.
I got just as close to him, “well maybe next time, don’t underestimate me.” I give the same smug-like smile that's been handed out since day one. His smile drops as he sits back in his chair.
Leaning on this right hand, he looks off to the side. “I guess they really did know what they were doing when they picked you for the exchange program, huh?” I sit back down, confidence never wavers.
Swing my hand around, “That was mere child’s play, Easy peasy.” Satan joined in the conversation.
“Either you’re a much more formidable opponent than you seem, or Mammon’s just THAT stupid, I’m not sure which.”
“Y’all acting like I can’t take care of myself down here, I’m an independent human, remember,” I say before picking up the glass in front, swirling it around. It tasted like grape juice, not bad.
Leviathan laughs. “All I know is that I finally got Mammon to give me back my money. SO, I couldn’t ask for a better outcome! Epic win for Leviathan! I should’ve rounded up a random human and done this sooner!” I could feel his joy all the way down from the other end.
He continues to shine on in his successful plan, talking about what he will do with his money. Asmodeus keeps turning back to me. I guess he’s just really curious?
“ You know, I find it surprising enough that Y/n managed to make a pact with Mammon..” he smiled, face resting on both hands now. “...But what’s even more shocking is the team-up with Levi that helped make it happen. Don’t you think so?” He tilts his head to the left.
Satan agreed. “Yep, I never thought I’d see the day a human won over Levi, but here we are.”
I genuinely don’t understand why it's so ‘strange’ for a human to make a pact with a demon, I’m not that boring...
Leviathan looks at me for a second before switching his gaze to a random corner. Furiously blushing, “Excuse me? Don’t get the wrong idea. Nobody won me over!” He started to move his arm frantically, almost hitting the table. “Our interests just happened to align, that's all! The relationship was purely business! I mean, why would I want anything to do with some non-otaku normie of a human? I wouldn’t! I mean, I'm spoken for! I’m no cheater!” He begins to stutter, “M-m-m-my one true love is —” Beelzebub chewing interrupts.
“Cheeseburgers.” Leviathan snaps his head towards Beelzebub.
“No! That's YOUR one true love, Beel!” Beelzebub just smiled through it.
“Hm..I get hungry just thinking about them. “ Small amounts of drool fall out of Beelzebub's lips.
Asmodeus chuckles softly. He's still close to my face. “You know, the way things are going, the rest of us might just find ourselves in a pact with Y/n as well if we're not careful.” His same ‘cheerful’ smile sticks.
Hm. I never really thought of that, I mean, what the hell, I’m literally in hell for a year. The dining room has gone silent. No one has breathed or moved out of place.
Asmodeus leaned further in his hands. “If you had your choice, which one of us would you forge a pact with next, Y/n..?” The question lay heavy on my mind for a second…who would I choose?
I looked around, assuming Leviathan was already off the table, especially after what recently happened. I guess I would choose…
“Beel, I guess.” He’s the only one I kinda know of. Though I guess Beelzebub has other thoughts.
He shakes his head and a frown forms, “Uh-uh. No.” Straight and direct, though the front disappeared quickly. “Although, if you’d make sure I always had tons and tons of food– as much as I could eat—then I’d consider it.”
Satan sighs, “...Beel. Have you been reaching over and swiping food off of Y/n’s plate this whole time?” His face carries concern.
Asmodeus is still watching me. It sends shivers down my spine. His face was blank and unreadable. “ You won’t be able to tame us as easily as you did Mammon, Y/n.” I just realized, he is the only one who calls me by my name besides Lucifer.
Asmodeus sadly frowns, “In fact, it’s quite offensive of you to think that we’re as stupid as that poor excuse of a demon.” Just as Asmodeus finishes his statement, a loud thud is heard, surprising everyone.
Asmodeus rubs the top of his head. “OW! Why’d you hit me?! I can’t believe you actually STRUCT my beautiful, beautiful head!” Looking behind him was Mammon. Shit, how did he get here so fast? When did he get in here?
Asmo continues complaining. “Not even Lucifer has ever done something like that! Why are you always getting so VIOLENT with me, Mammon?!” He finally turned around in his chair, seeing Mammon crossing his arms while leaning on his chair.
The infamous Mammon frowns, “That was for callin’ me a poor excuse for a demon, you peabrain!" He turns and faces the rest of the table, genuinely. When did he get in here? “Actually, I oughta hit all of ya, the way you talk about me. Y’all think you are so great.” Mc and I covered the top of our heads just in case.
Satan shakes his head, "It's not that we think we’re so great.” Asmo finishes his sentence with an annoyed expression.
“No, not at all. We just think you're a complete and utter fool. “ Though I think that just made Mammon even angrier.
Mammon grits his teeth. “HEY, that's even worse! Don’t treat me like I'm stupid!”
Satan rolled his eyes and then crossed his arms. “ Oh, I’m afraid that’s one thing that is not going to change,” sighing before picking up a glass.
“Nope.” Amso nods in agreement.
“Mm, this right here is delicious, too…” Beel is off in his own world.
Leviathan butts in with a smile. “Serves you right, Mammon! Lololol.” I’m sorry, did he just say ‘lol’ out loud…
Mammon just sighs in defeat. He gets off of Asmo’s chair, and you really can see how disheveled his uniform is. “I hate every last one of you.” Mammon walks around the table towards the dining room entrance.
He shrugs his shoulders. “None of this would’ve happened to begin with if it weren’t for that bastard Lucifer! It’s all because he took my credit card from me! Just snatched Goldie away–kidnapped her against her will!” He turned his back towards the entrance, this time the energy shifted, as if someone would pop up.
Leviathan gagged, “Ugh, don’t talk about your credit card like it's a person. It’s gross.” Amso shakes his head.
Mammon just snarls, resting his hands on his hips, sassy. “ SHUT UP, both of ya!” though it quickly turned into a smug little smile. “Also, I can’t believe that when he said he froze it, he meant that LITERALLY! Who sticks a credit card in the freezer?! What's up with that?! Was it supposed to be some sorta dad joke?! Because if so, it was awfully lame.”
Remember how I said that the energy shifted, soft tapping of shoes on the tile floors increased, not too loudly, but enough to see that Lucifer is…awake. Mammon should really shut up, no.
“Eh, guess maybe I shoulda expected somethin’ like that from him. I mean, he may not be a dad, but he’s pretty old, isn’t he? Guess I shouldn’t be surprised he’s a fan of dad jokes.”
Just seeing mammon be oblivious to Lucifer behind him was a little funny, and a small giggle was let out. Mammon himself even starts to laugh. Lucifer starts laughing, but in a…creepy way.
“Oh shit…” I said out loud. Mammon's face fell at the sight of lovely Lucifer.
