“Scared of the Dark”

(You might need to turn up your brightness or turn off light mode for this one! I did my best to fix it but I got a little carried away with the theme of darkness, sorry!)

This is sort of a spiritual successor to my Kris Dark Room comic? I was still thinking a lot about being afraid of your room at night as a kid and seeing monsters and my mom’s advice to me about how to be okay with not seeing anything when you close your eyes to sleep. This comic was conceived post chapter 3 where Raise Up Your Bat got me thinking about Dess and Dont Forget being connected. I actually am not so proud of the writing on this so much anymore but I still really like some of the art (the isometric, love isometrics)

Toby Fox may be the creator I respect most because after creating a game so huge that Nintendo sniped his character for Smash and the Pope's orchestra played his music for the Goddamn Pope I VERY much think it would be within Toby's right to develop of God complex, crack and become insane, go on a bender in the streets of LA, and then have an extremely public Twitter meltdown before getting suspended. Imagining the pressure, I think I personally would do all those things, in that order, in under 6 months' time.

Instead as far as I can tell he's just like "I'm dog" and has been like "I'm dog" since Undertale launched and he's just out there somewhere with near-total anonymity just making his little haha games. Absolute King.

I feel horrible for fans who first experienced Deltarune any other way. Like there was a cryprtic tweet the night before, the twitter profile was all backed out. And then he sent out a link to a “Survey” and you downloaded a file from a random website called SURVEYPROGRAM and then opened it up and it asked you to make a character. And then the character got thrown away. And then it was Deltarune. And like. It was a fucking ride none of you will get to experience this

i'm speaking to the choir on this blog here obviously but i really truly cannot wrap my head around the fact that people genuinely hold a dislike / distaste for undertale or deltarune. i've met some friends through FFXIV recently that say they hate it, or don't understand the appeal, and it feels a little like talking to an alien from another planet or something. obviously everyone has their own tastes, ymmv, not everyone's gonna absolutely adore it, but HATE it? it just does not make sense to me...
