You must have faced the wrath of sun and its heat in your office or room if you are on the top floor or there is no other construction above the one you are living. You might have opted for every measure- installing water coolers to air conditioners- but in vain. But false ceilings would do all the talking.

False ceilings indeed help in keeping home cool. The physics behind this is that the gap present between the false ceiling and the real one act as an insulator and does not allow the heat to get transferred into the room. Air trapped inside the gap would act as thermal insulation and air being the bad conductor of heat, won’t allow the heat to roll out into the room.

However, to make it effective, it is necessary to have a suitable width of the false ceiling.
