help him omg 😭😭😭
interview after jonas abandoned the tour
Interviewer: Jonas Vingegaard, how are things with you? Jonas Vingegaard: Well, surprisingly well. It is of course very disappointing for us to exit this way, and that the Tour ends like this, but that's how bike racing is sometimes. And fortunately for that, it's only a broken collarbone, so yes. Interviewer: Are you in pain, or how are you feeling? Jonas Vingegaard: Yes, a little, I can definitely feel it. I've received some painkillers, so... they haven't given me something [that takes away all] the pain, but it's actually okay. Interviewer: Can you try to take us through what happened? Jonas Vingegaard: What happens is that we are going for the stage, and we perhaps come a little too fast into this roundabout, and then my front wheel just slips. I couldn't manage to do anything, and... yeah, that's how bike racing is sometimes once in a while. It's just a huge shame for us, to be completely honest. Interviewer: Then you can sit afterwards and be wise after the fact and talk about whether it was the motorcycle or what it is, what are your thoughts on how you approached that corner? Jonas Vingegaard: Well, you could say as you say that yes, maybe the motorcycle makes a mistake, but again, we can't rely on the motorcycles either. We have to have our own judgment, so we also make a mistake, and yeah... humans make mistakes, so that's sometimes how it is, and we can't change that now. Interviewer: And then there is also the whole thing with you being woken up last night. I mean, are you standing here now with a thought that it could play a part in concentration ability and so on? Jonas Vingegaard: Well, it is clear that it certainly hasn't done any good for it, you could say. Whether that is the cause, I dare not predict. It may well be that it did something, I shouldn't say. I don't want to put the blame on that, because it is bike racing, and crashes happen in bike racing. And whether it's that, I wouldn't dare answer. Interviewer: But how is it for you to leave the Tour de France like this? Jonas Vingegaard: Well, it's of course super annoying. We are super disappointed, and I just hope that the boys can now focus on the next week and hopefully win a stage or two. Interviewer: What have you done to just compose yourself? Jonas Vingegaard: Yeah, what have I done, I just talked a little with my family. That was the most important thing for me. We have laid a plan for what needs to happen now, and yeah, talked with some people here on the team. It is of no use to hang your head, it actually just makes it worse. Interviewer: And what is going to happen now? Jonas Vingegaard: Well, I am going home and then I need an operation on the collarbone, because it is broken, so it requires an operation before it becomes okay again.

Also not to draw parallels in these awful times but :

I'm really sad for Jonas. We've been rivals since 2021. We didn't have a good relationship before, but in the last two years, he's become something of a friend. Maybe the doping control at 2 a.m. meant he didn't sleep well and, perhaps, lost concentration, causing the crash.
"We became good rivals, respectful rivals, good competitors, and I also think kind of friends" - Tadej about Jonas😭😭
