But in tamilnadu, We pray and celebrate Krishna for 30 days in the month of margazhi ( 17 Dec, 2023 – 14 Jan, 2024 )
It's the month where aandal fasted for 30 days on the prayer to marry Krishna which she did
So it's said, when we fast and pray for 30 days during the month of margazhi, we marry people we love ( aka meri shyama in this case )
Anyone wanna join fast ?
( I am yet to learn more to specifics but in thirupaavai ( a 30 song composition sung by aandal in the 30 days to wake her fellow friends to go pray in the temple, so we sing it and fast for breakfast ig so )
Me running to marry Krishna be like :
GIRL TELL ME BOUT IT!!!!! DETAILS PLEASE!!! And as far as I know in UP and maharshtra there's no fast like this.

Backstory -
Aandal ( foster child of periyazhvar ) loved Krishna since childhood, when she was on the age to marry, she was shocked to find that she would be forced to marry a *human* when there's kanha (#relatable ༎ຶ‿༎ຶ)
So she went to her father and was like what do you mean by that ? How can I even think of someone else as my husband, that ain't happening
Even though her father was extreme devotee, he was like how can a mere human marry Krishna- the supreme lord ( this happened in kaliyug / current age btw )
The with her friend's suggestion, she went on to fast and pray to Krishna on the month of margazhi,
Everyday morning - she would wake up, bath and wake up her friends to go to temple with her singing songs which got complied into thirupaavi ( paavai - girl )
And long story short - at the end of the fast, Krishna came and married her
There is a temple here in tamilnadu in srirangam where kanha is called as ranganathar.
That is where it happened, a freaking few hours from where I live
So since that day, women in here ( well most devotees) fast praying to kanha to either attain him as their husband ( which is the most effective and for what the fast is intended at ) or to marry someone they love.

This fasting turned out to be much easier than what I thought
To anyone willing, we would probably create a group, I will tell the reason shortly
Don'ts
- shouldn't eat ghee / milk
It's literal meaning is that in those days, Gopis used to eat them the most since they belong to cowherd families
So it means producing your favourite food to kanha instead of eating it yourself
Whatever you favourite is, produce it to kanha
- Shouldn't dress up / focus on own beauty
Ofcourse, we have to get ready for schools, colleges or whatever - but it means
>>> One shouldn't wear kajal or any makeup, external ornaments ( earrings excluded )
>>> don't keep flowers in head ( as it is expected only kanha will place/wear/ the flowers in your head
>>> whatever flower you see is surrendered to him for him to put on
The only don't he expects from us is to lose our sense of self and our focus on external beauty and complete focus on him with love
Procedure :
Wake up before Brahma muhurta ( usually really early at morning which is the only factor which would be hard to follow, but yeah everything for Krishna 🙇♀️💙 ). It is usually around 4 am (Brahmamuhurta (Sanskrit-ब्रह्म मुहूर्त, lit. 'time of Bramha') is a 48-minute period (muhurta) that begins one hour and 36 minutes before sunrise, and ends 48 minutes before sunrise. )
Within the 48 minutes, one should refresh, take bath and prepare for Pooja
After 25 mins or so ( ik it's really short but yeah anything for Krishna 🩵 ) - should sit before Krishna idol for puja
One should prepare the Prasad / food to give to shyama ( it can be really easy as time is pretty less ) with water
I will prepare a list of really easy / non cooked Prasad ideas once I get free
Puja :
Wake Krishna up, literally.
To wake up, sing the Thiru paavai song for the particular day with full love and devotion ( I will explain the next day's songs meaning, pronounciation and everything the day prior - the reason why group is needed )
As he wakes up, give him food as he will be hungry and sing bhajans while he eats
You can drink the water that he drank after the Brahma muhurta and eat the Prasad the first thing in the morning before eating anything else
The only fast is eating the Prasad of what he ate the first thing in the morning
No fasting except that is required
Throughout the day, try to keep your thoughts on Krishna and think about him as much as you can
