Sassenach Let The Fun Be Gin - Google Drive
I got a bunch of comments and messages from people wanting the design I put on a bag to carry my gin. Figured I’d save a few PDF versions for whoever wants to print out a sign for one of the future events! Also attaching here as JPGs!
Jamie’s “Ghost” Explanation. I’m wondering if anyone else has thought of this too.
🏴👻🏴👻🏴👻🏴👻🏴👻🏴👻
It’s not Jamie’s ghost. It’s what happens when Jamie is dreaming. He travels to the future in his dreams. It’s some sort of astral projection into the future.

I asked ChatGPT “Why do women love Jamie Fraser so much?” and this is the wonderful (and incredibly accurate) response it received.
Jamie Fraser is a fictional character from the "Outlander" book series by Diana Gabaldon and the subsequent television adaptation. He is a Scottish Highlander and serves as one of the central protagonists of the story.
There are several reasons why Jamie Fraser has gained a significant following and has become beloved by many readers, especially women:
1. Romantic Hero: Jamie is often described as a classic romantic hero. He possesses qualities that appeal to readers, such as bravery, loyalty, honor, and a strong sense of integrity. His chivalrous nature, combined with his vulnerability and deep emotional connections, make him a compelling and swoon-worthy character.
2. Complex Characterization: Jamie is portrayed as a multifaceted character with depth and complexity. He undergoes personal growth, endures hardships, and faces moral dilemmas throughout the series. His internal struggles, resilience, and ability to evolve make him relatable and intriguing.
3. Protective and Supportive Nature: Jamie has a strong protective instinct, especially towards those he cares about. He consistently demonstrates his willingness to go to great lengths to ensure the safety and well-being of his loved ones. This protective nature is often seen as an attractive quality that appeals to readers.
4. Emotional Intelligence and Sensitivity: Jamie is portrayed as emotionally perceptive and in tune with others' feelings. He is capable of empathy, understanding, and deep emotional connections. His ability to express vulnerability and his sensitivity towards others contribute to his appeal.
5. Chemistry with Claire: Jamie's passionate and enduring love for the series' protagonist, Claire Randall, resonates with readers. Their relationship is characterized by a profound connection, intense romance, and mutual respect. Their love story, filled with trials and sacrifices, captivates readers and draws them into their journey.
It's important to note that while Jamie Fraser has garnered a significant fan base, individual preferences and interpretations may vary. Different readers may be drawn to different aspects of his character, and the reasons for his popularity may differ from person to person.

London when it rains …
(by Kayode Okeyode)
This morning I went to Westminster Abbey for their service of Matins at 10am. We wanted to be able to see the church without spending the money to be a tourist, and it was amazing to be able to see what the cathedral is really used for, church. We were the first few to arrive and were seated in the choir section, in the very center of the cathedral. Yup, we got the pretty fabulous center seats that are basically your own personal compartment. The famous Choir of Westminster sat right in front of us. I really enjoyed the Sermon which was about finding sanctuary. The reverend included a lot of history of The Abbey, the British Monarchy, and London places of worship within his Sermon and it was actually very informative. I hope to go back again before I head home in 41 days.
Random Happy
Yesterday when I was getting off at Stockwell tube on my way to work I passed a little shop inside the station that I'd never took notice of before. Immediately I had an internal argument with myself about whether or not I should stop and get something a little better for breakfast than the 2 girl scout cookies I'd eaten earlier. I walked past it but then decided I'd be better off trying to be a little healthy for once, so I turned round and headed back. While looking in the display case the man behind the register asked "Would you like a tea or coffee m'am?" I instinctively said no and was annoyed that this guy was trying to talk to me when I just wanted to look at the prices.
I decided on a sausage roll that was only £1 and asked for it. "Would you like it warmed up a little more? They've been sitting out for a few minutes now so it might be a bit cold." said the man. "No that's fine." I replied, still annoyed that he was trying to be talkative. I avoid being social before 10am as much as I can and this man was totally breaking the London stone cold trend of commuters not speaking, let alone making eye contact to one another in the morning. I wasn't used to it, especially when, in an cheery voice he asked "Well Alright then, how's your morning going?" and added "Looks like a dreary day out there, hope it will brighten up for ya."
For the first time I looked up at this person who was speaking to me and he did genuinely seem to be interested in how my day was going. I told him it was good so far, and that I was glad I stopped in his shop because I was pretty hungrey. He smiled and offered me my breakfast as I handed him the coin. "Well I do hope you have a good day." he said, and as I walked away I replied "Same to you."
Although it wasn't the longest of encounters this one minute of my morning really stuck out to me the rest of the day. It's moments like that when I have a little bit more faith in the human spirit. Usually anyone saying "How are you?" or "Good morning" is merely saying it because it's what they're supposed to say. They don't really care. I know when I worked at Old Navy I'd always say "Have a great day!" when I didn't really give a damn what the person did the rest of the day. Of course it's not that we wish bad onto others, it's just that we're so wrapped up in our own business to take a moment to be genuine towards everyone else. This random person completely made my day and as I walked down South Lambeth Road with a smile on my face I was really grateful I'd decided on stopping in his shop. It's genuine people like that who really make a difference in the world, however cony that sounds. Being genuine might not end wars and fix nations, but it can at least make a difference in someone else's day.

I went to Edinburgh this weekend and got to visit The Elephant House, a cafe where JK Rowling would go to write during the beginning stages of Harry Potter. I cried when I first saw it, it was so awesome to get to go there!
