For me, friendship has always been the most accessible of relationships — certainly far more so than romantic love. Friendship, I learned, provided a buffer in the interplay of emotions, a distance that made the risk of intimacy bearable, a space that allowed the other person to remain safely another person.

After nearly five years of blogging, the time has come to close the chapter on Krista in Calgary. I started blogging as a way to write in a different way than I was doing in my academic job and to share a small piece of myself with the world. I thought it might be a way to share my thoughts and views with readers and be a place where people would come for ideas on living the good life--however they defined it.
Turns out writing a blog really isn’t about what you bring to others; it’s about all the love and friendship that others bring to you. I can’t even begin to describe the wonderful people I’ve met online and IRL because of Krista in Calgary, and how it’s allowed me to engage in a deeper way with those already in my life.
So to all my readers: I love you, peeps! Thank you for a wonderful 5 years.
