Nearly 14,000 words later, and it's finally finished: My own take on a Dragon Age modification of DnD 5E! It is created with thought for those who are pre-existing fans of Dragon Age, but potentially new to Dungeons and Dragons.
In this handbook, you will find everything you need for a TTRPG in the Dragon Age setting:
4 lineages (human, dwarf, elf, qunari)
3 classes (warrior, rogue, mage)
5 specializations for each class
16 sample backgrounds
And more!
There are three main reasons I decided to put my lore knowledge to work and make this:
The official Dragon Age Tabletop game is just not that user friendly, in my experience with it; especially for anyone new to TTRPGs. This book I have put together is based on Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition, which is a system that far more people are familiar with, and therefore is a) well known by many already, and b) easier to access further information on for those new to it.
While I was able to find a couple versions of similar modifications other people have made, those versions were out of date with the lore, and/or did not meet my personal taste/standards.
I love being a Dungeon Master, and I want to run more games set in Thedas in the future. But like I said, the official rules just aren't good for me, and I would prefer something like... well, this!
This handbook is free to use by anyone who wants it. (You are also, of course, free to make changes for your personal games as you like.)
My only ask is that you please reblog this post so more people can find it. I worked really hard on this, after all. Thank you!
Meet my new favorite side character, Sage, a decacacti, which is a desert-dwelling cactus-like creature known for their ten stems and prickly personality. Read more at maryrobinettekowal’s blog https://maryrobinettekowal.com/journal/my-favorite-bit-kristina-w-kelly-talks-about-tea-tale/
Kristina W. Kelly is joining us today to talk about her novel, Tea Tale. Here’s the publisher’s description: Tea Makes Everything Cozier in
First day I went I watched all the cool people with their geeky shirts and their cosplays, walked the vendor hall and picked up a Final Fantasy 15 book, wore my Picard shirt and my pins on my lanyard, and spoke on a panel (Escape, Empathy, and the Return of the Reader)
My second and the last day of Indiana Comic Con. I dressed like a rupunzel tavern owner, got beautiful art of the Star Trek Voyager ship, found my cousin’s booth Dark Wood Apothey and bought tea and tea spoons, checked out the local gaming store’s room and got my friend a Magic the Gathering playmate, and I had two panels I spoke on:
Do Not Cite the Deep Magic to Me, Witch (which was about fanfic and online fandoms of the 90s-2000s) and Legends and Lattes: The Cozy Fantasy Phenomenon (where I got to talk all things cozy fantasy and brought a stack of my favorite books plus my own Tales of Trelvania series).

On backerkit is a campaign to turn the book Lesbians in Space: Where No Man Has Gone Before into an audiobook. And Mary Robinette Kowal will narrate! If enough funds are raised, they’ll be able to pay her to narrate the second anthology the Sapphics Strike Back as well. I have a story in the second one! “What the Stone Gives” - A xenoarcheologist does everything to save her girlfriend from an accident in alien ruins.
Meet Sage! This little cactus is of the variety decacacti, which has ten prickly appendages. Sage is a new lovable side character appearing in Tea Tale. I love him so much! Art by Rue Sparks.
Tea Tale is book two of the Tales of Trelvania series.
On February 26, Tavern Tale will be featured in the Sapphic Shelf Explosion for .99, brought to you by Year of Queer Lit. It’s a fantastic celebration of sapphic books and authors. Check out the books.
It’s release day! Tea Tale is my new book from Space Wizard Science Fantasy. Inspired by my love of RPGs, tea, my favorite winter things, and doing the side quests in RPGs. It's the sequel to Tavern Tale and it's out today!
A wintry holiday faire, magic mayhem, and tea were fused in the making of this tale. Continue the journey with Divine and Saph as they get ready for the Midwinter Nights Faire and Divine's magic starts to go haywire.
Once again, readers will find a table top role play game (TTRPG) scene where the characters play Crossroads George (a game like Settlers of Catan meets Triple Triad from Final Fantasy). I love the Cactuar creatures in Final Fantasy, so there's an element of that within the book. Then, from Chrono Trigger (one of my favorite games ever) the Millennial Fair heavily inspired the Midwinter Nights Faire events.
