You were sitting on the couch listening to the news drone on about how this heat wave would bring in the hottest temperatures you’d seen in a decade as if it was a record to be excited about. Your air conditioning was on low to save a little money, so you weren’t exactly dripping sweat but you could feel air sitting heavy on your skin and your hair only adding to that discomfort. As much as you didn’t want to step foot outside you needed a cold drink and hopefully a hint of a breeze that came with a brisk walk. Your current attire was fine. Flip flops, shorts, and a tank top. The only thing missing was your hair up in a ponytail. you flipped your head forward and tied your hair up with the hairtie you always kept on your wrist. You made an audible sigh once it was secured, finally your neck could breathe. You grabbed the keys hanging on the small hook and tucked a few dollars in your pocket as you left.
It was a regular summer day in your neighborhood, kids playing in sprinklers and plastic pools, adult and old people sipping drinks on the porch and most of the people around your age were also on their way to the convenience store about now. Either to get drunk or they were too broke to pay for their own air conditioning. You were still deciding which you would get up to. Your sandals flip-flopped as you approached the door until you found yourself in a classically uncomfortable situation. There was a man who was approaching the door at the same pace; who would get there first. It was no surprise with his long strides that he reached the door first, it opened with the ring of a bell.
“Had to beat you to it” he chuckled as you walked in, with his reflective sunglasses you couldn’t exactly tell which part of you he was staring at as you walked in.
“Appreciate it, thank you,” you said with a smile over your shoulder as you headed towards the cold drinks. As you stood in front of the teas your eyes shifted back and forth between those and the alcoholic ones that sat in the cooler a few doors down. It was then that you ran into this man again as he stood in the same position and this time his whole look felt familiar, pretty sure you’d seen him at the bar during a few of your shifts. Whenever he came in with friends you were pretty sure you heard his name was Johnny.
“Budweiser or whiskey tonight?” that was usually what he came in for. Hopefully, he recognized you or else the whole thing was pointless and weird.
“Oh how’d you know?” wasn’t the answer you hoped for but at least he went with it. He looked up a bit after he said it, “Wait you’re usually the one that gives me my drinks, Y/N or something like that right?” The laugh he let out was contagious.
“Yeah, that’s me, hard to recognize without the uniform huh.” You laughed a little with him. He readjusted his sunglasses as you said that, you could only imagine his eyes scanned you up and down the length of your legs, the ones usually covered in jeans and drink spills.
“Can’t forget a face like that one though, I been meaning to ask to see you outside of work anyway but been a bit nervous. Don’t want you thinking I’m just another drunk old guy tryin’ to hit on you.” You were glad he said something about it before you did.
“That’s funny, I’ve been wanting to write my number on a receipt but never knew if you wanted it or not…assumed you were well married with kids” Your eyes went from him back to the fridges as your nerves got a bit worse, hoping you played it off well.
“Well I don’t have either so if you’re not busy now I wouldn’t mind getting the nice whiskey instead of some of this cheap beer,”
“I don’t have work so I guess there’s your answer.” You both smiled as you walked over to the register to buy the whiskey, you offered to pay for part of it but he insisted it was on him. You left the small store and got into his car. You drove for a little while until you pulled into his driveway. He had a nice place inside and it was very clean, not to mention cool inside. You looked around a bit as he pulled two small glasses down from the cabinet and put a large ice cube in both. The amber liquid poured out so nicely. It was almost as nice as the hands pouring it. Your eyes were glued.
“You look eager for a drink, here you go darlin’.” The nickname was sweet, you’d heard a lot of accents in your day but his just hit the spot.
“Why thank you…cheers.” looking into his eyes as you clinked your glass with his, proceeding to take a sip and let the wonderfully cold drink spread throughout your body. You know the feeling. By the time you had finished that glass, along with another, and listened to a couple of the vinyls Johnny had you felt pretty comfortable. The sun was beginning to make its descent and the windows let in the perfect light that shone on you both. It was making that comfort settle elsewhere as you noticed the silence. There had been steady conversation til now, you were thinking maybe you had overstayed your welcome.
“Didn’t even realize the sun was going down.” You both looked out the window simultaneously. “Sure it’s time I get going, seems like you’ll probably start winding down for the day.” His hand came down slightly on your leg.
“Oh don’t worry about that, unless you would like to go.” He respectfully lifted his hand quickly realizing you hadn’t really said anything that would have warranted that from him. You were surprised though, you didn’t want to move too quickly but you had technically known him a while already, it wasn’t like he was some total stranger. You gently pulled his hand back onto your leg with your resting on top.
“Just didn’t want to overstay my welcome but if you insist…” Your voice trailed off, you had been through this whole song and dance so many times in your life already but damn it if this man didn’t make you nervous.
“Now that we’ve gotten to know each other you’re welcome back any time.” his hand began to brush up and down your thigh. Squeezing down once in a while when he found a spot he liked. Your body language giving him the permission he needed. You laid your head sideways on the back of the couch as you looked into his eyes and down to his lips. His eyes went down to yours too as his rough hand cupped the cheek that lay on the sofa. Ever so slowly he came down to kiss you, there was a sensual rhythm to the way your lips moved against each other’s. It was almost in sync with the low music that played in the background. It became more passionate as you both opened your mouths just a bit more. His grips on your thigh becoming a little rougher but just as slow as they were before. It was perfect. His hand going around your body to squeeze your ass then readjusting to place in beneath the denim. With your shorts starting to get in the way you take some initiative to inbutton them but Johnny’s hand completely blocks yours.
“I want to take these off for you baby.” He moves himself off the couch so he can kneel in front of you and slowly push your knees outward, hands gliding back to down stopping right before they meet in the middle. You wiggled slightly as he finally reached the button of your shorts and undid it. Johnny traced
