➸ an outline of green and silver
open thread!
the city was as urban as she had always pictured it to be -- tall buildings stand in an exact grid pattern, while ubiquitous skyscrapers were smudged by the smog-filled sky. there was rarely any sunlight peaking through the towering structures, and birds flew too far and in between to be caught by the human eye.Â
it seemed lifeless despite the constant chaos, torpid feelings soaked into the sidewalk cracks and into the graffiti walls. even the colors of the spray paint seemed lackluster.Â
jisoo turns down one of the alleys clustered together behind tall terraced houses -- the path she takes back to the apartments is an intricate labyrinth of noisy streets, normally plagued with the usual nightly congestion. and yet, it seems oddly still today. not quite as eerie as other times, but certainly a bit unsettling.Â
it’s nothing like the quiet of the forest she so desperately missed back home -- it’s much different here, much more ruddy and disconcerting. she wouldn’t have even been phased by the howl of a lone animal in the midst of the trees, but here she feels alarmed at her own feet stumbling over discarded cans.
and as she rounds another corner, jisoo is reminded as to why she feels so nervous in the heart of the city. in the middle of the alley, a body is propped up against the brick wall.Â
a low grown releases itself from their lips and she sucks in a sharp breath, willing herself to stay still despite everything in her screaming run, run, run! and wanting her to depart as quickly as possible. she glances around, wondering if perhaps someone will emerge from the shadows. when no one makes an appearance, she battles herself on what to do -- should she simply leave them? but what if they need help?
it’s difficult to tell if perhaps they’re injured -- or even worse, drunk. she’s at least well-equipped to deal with the former of the two. she steels her nerves, and her good nature wins over her mental warnings. she couldn’t just leave someone here. she moves, hesitantly approaching the slumped figure, and nervously calls out, “h-hello..?”
