Sometimes, if you’re lucky, there will be a tree outside your bedroom window. It is very important to romanticize this tree as much as possible.

#my childhood bedroom #my linden tree #big and beautiful and green and magical #at some point neighbors above complained it was getting into their windows/they weren’t getting enough sunlight or something along those #lines #the city service or whoever came didn’t cut her down fully; but they took her limbs #all the green leaves right next to your window the sunlight streaming through and dancing in the wind #all gone and just some left; and those that left away from the window #there were bars on that window so I could never fully look out at it how I wanted but I crouched to the farthest corner to get a better look #she regained her strength and the branches grew towards the window again after some years; but never the same #further in the distance was the tallest tree you could see from all around. I called it the Crow Birch (воронья береза) because they would #sit there; or at least one of them; at the very thin top like a king of the mountain lol #she was the tallest for a long long time. one winter; we kept getting ice rain and all the trees froze over; like glass. it was beautiful b #ut awful for both the trees and the birds that couldn’t feed on their berries #after that winter; the tall crow birch broke and wasn’t as tall as she used to be. I can’t recall if she ever grew back to her height; but #she will always be the tall crow birch to me #in our kitchen window: a rowan tree! beautiful and birds would feed there; especially when food was scarce #grandmas bedroom: cherry trees. juuuust a little too low to reach most of the berries but still many you reach. they were sour and delicious #and in the spring they bloomed beautifully #and the berries that are too high/too low? vacuum them into a bag!! my mother and her sister came up with it when they were little #these trees taught me so much about the world and I consider them great mentors; friends; family #I miss them and I hope they’re alive and well #I dream of the day I can see and touch them again #personal
