How did you remake it? I keep posting mine and they don’t animate :(
When you save for web(legacy), try resizing while checking the current file size. Get it below 2M or tumblr won’t animate.

GIF’s! Yes they are fun.. and as one article proposed they are the reinvention of internet trash.. I loved in the reading that I learned so many different facts about GIF’s.. including the fact that they have been around just about as long as I have been alive, and they are getting a new life as part of the post modern art movement on the internet. I also loved that no one can agree on how to pronounce the name. I like the peanut butter version the best :) Either way, I think it is wonderful that we have the freedom to express art in so many different ways now.. and if it includes recycling internet trash into something beautiful than more power to us. The recognition in many different contemporary art museums doesn’t hurt either! I look forward to exploring this project and using a GIF or two in the future.

Artist Statement:
I’ve always been intrigued by the term “sugar-coat.” At its essence I guess it’s supposed to make it easier for people to deal with subjects and situations that are otherwise tough to deal with. However, when I think of sugar-coating I think of an artificially sweetened lie that’s very transparent and somewhat insulting. The term “sugar-coat” takes on a literal meaning in my presented archive. Otherwise extremely serious situations are re-purposed to be kitschy and “fun” images that either downplay or make fun of the reality of the original image. Situations such as car and train wrecks, physical and verbal altercations, violence, natural disasters, explosions, illness, and obsene gestures are displayed in a manner that makes it difficult to tell how serious of a situation it really is. I made use of color and various objects such as flowers, cotton candy, stuffed animals, confetti, ice cream, cookies and cupcakes, glitter, and dancing that I thought would make the new images the most outrageous and ridiculous. Ordinarily, we sugar-coat things verbally. My intention for my collages is to show the visual rather than the verbal and to force people to confront the ridiculousness of the whole concept and to possibly get them to start thinking about how many things in our culture are displayed in such a way.
Your project is awesome! I especially love the ice cream cones blowing up and the men fighting with teddy bears and dolls. Very creative and fun to look at. I think your images are collaged well together too! Thanks for sharing!
I thought your project was pretty cool! Some of the images were kind of hard to understand, but that may just be me. I like the use of colors and contrasting images to get your point across. Nice work!
