Basics

Age 21 & up only, minors do not interact.

I have ADHD and a life, so if I’m slow to reply you can always poke me if it's been more than a day, but please be patient. I'll always try to let you know if it'll be more than a day before I can reply.

Don't be offended if I'm not interested in RPing with you and I'll do the same. If your OC is a Mary Sue (perfect with no flaws and/or overpowered) I definitely won't be interested.

I'm pretty chill about typos and grammar in general, as long as you're not using ellipses and em dashes all the time. LMK if something I format bothers you and I'll stop - let's be open with each other and do our best to make the replies legible.

I'm happy to roleplay wherever you prefer (tumblr, discord, instagram, google doc, etc.). I love discord because we can create categories, channels with threads, and character profiles really easily, but it's not super necessary for me.

Message me anytime about starting a new roleplay, even if someone else has already replied on a post! I'm open to discussion any time.

I prefer paragraphs, but generally we should agree on an average length expectation for replies and stick with it. Sometimes it makes sense for a shorter or longer reply, I don't always need 600+ words but I also don't want 1-2 sentences all the time.

I'm open to your original characters, as long as they're flushed out.

When the focus is on characters being parents. Characters having kids is fine, but if the entire focus is on the kids/child rearing/being parents I have zero interest.

Severely OOC canon characters. Generally I like the canon personalities or something close to it. If you want to treat a canon character like an original character I'm not interested (like Anders betreying mages or something like that).

I don't think i can take a fantasy setting seriously if it depicts dwarves as unattractive as a feature of the race. If some of your dwarves aren't hot thats sus. The racial features are short, stocky, and hairy. Those are not unattractive features, quite the opposite. This is why i love dragon age they have varric tethras.

Tonight I am thinking about Dragon Age 2, a game in which you enter a city as an undocumented refugee, get hired in an exploitative job that almost kills you, run around the cities with your besties who are various persecuted minorities, try to save your family and fail, and watch the city around you slowly but inevitably slide into civil war.

No reason. Just thinking about it.

I need everyone to know that the ship Götheborg, the world's largest ocean-going wooden sailing ship, answered a distress call the other day.

Imagine waiting for the coast guard or whatever to show up and instead a replica of 18th century merchant ship pulls up and tows you to the coast.

From the story:

We repeatedly emphasized that we were aboard a small 8-meter sailboat, but the response was the same each time: "We are a 50-meter three-masted sailboat, and we offer our assistance in towing you to Paimpol." We were perplexed by the size difference between our two boats, as we feared being towed by a boat that was too large and at too fast a speed that could damage our boat. The arrival of the Götheborg on the scene was rapid and surprising, as we did not expect to see a merchant ship from the East India Company of the XVIII century. This moment was very strange, and we wondered if we were dreaming. Where were we? What time period was it? The Götheborg approached very close to us to throw the line and pass a large rope. The mooring went well, and our destinies were linked for very long hours, during which we shared the same radio frequency to communicate with each other. The crew of the Götheborg showed great professionalism and kindness towards us. They adapted their speed to the size of our boat and the weather conditions. We felt accompanied by very professional sailors. Every hour, the officer on duty of the Götheborg called us to ensure everything was going well.[...] This adventure, very real, was an incredible experience for us. We were extremely lucky to cross paths with the Götheborg by chance and especially to meet such a caring crew. Dear commander and crew of the Götheborg, your kindness, and generosity have shown that your ship is much more than just a boat. It embodies the noblest values of the sea, and we are honored to have had the chance to cross your path and benefit from your help.

Inquisitor Vera Trevelyan

Other Details

TL;DR: Vera is an Andrastian circle mage from Orlais who trained under Vivienne. She's ~27 yo and has been in the circle since her magic manifested. Vera follows in Vivienne's footsteps to become a knight enchanter, but has only just finished her training when the Conclave explosion happens.

Vera is very diplomatic and publicly demure as she has had to learn to play the Game growing up in the Orlais circle. She plays decently well, but learned to let others underestimate her and keep a low profile so she could gather more information.

Clever, empathetic, inexperienced but well-read. Once she gets a taste of life outside the circle she's likely to go a little overboard trying new things and will need to learn about excess and her limitations the hard way.

She's naturally distrustful and doesn't open up to people easily (but people don't always realize that because she's diplomatic).

Deeply Andrastian, but practical. She's got questions about her religion no one has ever been able to answer, but she leans on faith.

After learning who the Tranquil are when she was young, Vera started to resent the Circles and Chantry/Templar system. She doesn't start to question them and the Chantry until she befriends a Tranquil (as much as you can) who tells her their story when she asks.

Gathering more information and news, by the time the Kirkwall Chantry is blown up, Vera is fairly (privately) radicalized. She sees Chantry leaders as corrupt and betreyers of Andraste.

Vera is a virgin (or close to it) who wants a relationship with someone who is also Andrastian, but who will also share her vision of free mages and a Thedas that is slave-free.

She doesn't think romance will happen for her, so she's fully prepared to devote her life to Andraste while distancing from the Chantry (charity work, most likely).

Cara "Darling" Quinn

Other Details

TL;DR: Cara is a 29yo widowed mage from Starkhaven who joins the inquisition with a supply group that comes through the free marches area. She's a hard-ass who takes no shit. She's caring but distrustful of Templars, the Chantry, and new people she hasn't vetted yet. She's got zero filter (so she tries to stay quiet in risky situations), has no respect for authority, and will be just as likely to punch you as to cast a spell.

Her mother Rowan was a circle mage from Starkhaven who escaped in 9:09 Dragon. She gave birth to Cara in 9:10 Dragon, and Cara does not know who her father is/was.

She was raised as a hedge mage on the Eastern Slopes of the Vimmark Mountains near a Dalish clan they traded with. Because her mother was a formally trained circle mage, she is better trained than a hedge mage typically would be. She also picked up a bit of more practical survival, healing, and protection magic from the Dalish.

She was raised with a love of stories, a hatred of bigots, and she is very nurturing.

Cara's mother was killed by a Templar patrol who discovered them in 9:24 Dragon, and Cara escaped with two Dalish Elves her age and fled into Kirkwall where they lived in the Alienage for a time doing odd jobs and stealing to survive. One of her friends is captured by a slave trader within the year, and the other leaves to find another Dalish clan to join shortly after.

Cara does a little of everything around town to make money as she gets older, including serving and cooking at taverns. She eventually makes a name for herself among the female mages and Elves in Lowtown/Darktown for providing “plan b” potions and “notice me not” charms to keep them safe from the Templars.

In 9:36 Cara marries a human for love, but he is killed after the Chantry explosion by a Templar who mistakes him for a mage instead of her. She refuses to run again and stays in Kirkwall.

After the breach, an Inquisition supply group comes through Kirkwall in late 9:40 Dragon. Cara decides she can do some good at Haven, and barters her way into the group.

Cara has likely met some number of the DA2 group in passing since she lived around Kirkwall for years, and Varric (with his ear to the ground) knows she's competent and loyal, and can keep a secret.

Once she gets to haven she ends up doing a lot of the same things she did before (cooking, partnering with Adan for healing and potion making, etc).
