beyond the basic morality lines like using ai or writing explicit abuse, plagiarism, etc., y'know, the kinds of things already outlined in my rules, i have one very specific to scaramouche as a muse and that's that i'll never write him as human. even in a modern au, it'll always have to be a modern/sci-fi au because while a basic college au or something like that would be fun, i just genuinely cannot conceive of being able to write a version of scara that's anything like himself if he's human. he is defined by not only a feeling of not belonging but being quite literally a singular creation in that there isn't anything in the world made in exactly the same way that he is, with even ei's shogun puppet being made using herself as material rather than being entirely artificial. he has to have that undercurrent of complete alienation for him to make sense as a character. sorry i love tragedy and am therefore not interested in writing a version of him that is anything but utterly tragic </3

i've been roleplaying since i was 11 years old aka 17 years at this point so the list could go on forever with how many things i've been into over the years... right now though i think everyone i want to write i've just said fuck it and threw onto my genshin multi LMAO. since previously a big one was venti, because i adore him but he's so tied in to so many aspects of the genshin lore that he's incredibly intimidating. he's one of those muses where i'm comfortable putting him on a multi but i wouldn't want to write solo unless i really put a lot of time into it and unfortunately right now scara is the only character i'm interested in putting in that amount of effort into. though my childe blog will probably make a comeback when snezhnaya drops and hélène is of course always on the brain in the background

all in all it has been a very satisfying week for me! i was able to cut a bad friend who has been causing me stress for months out of my life for good and yesterday was my horrible ableist coworker's last day. things are looking up for me 🙂‍↕️ not even my current endometriosis flare up can get me down... except for the fact that i cannot write because i'm so dizzy i feel like i'm on a boat when i'm sitting still. um.

i truly do think so many people have lost the fucking plot about what roleplaying is supposed to be in that above all else it's supposed to be about having fun with your friends. like maybe that sounds cheesy or whatever but also this is a hobby dedicated to fucking around in a niche corner of a half-abandoned website. if the point isn't to have fun, what fucking is it, y'know? it's not about the graphics, it's not about the follower count, it honestly doesn't even have to be about the writing. who cares if your writing sucks if you're having fun? as long as you're getting your point across to your partner and your partner enjoys writing with you, what else matters? literally nothing! this is overall a largely audience-less medium. the only purpose of being in the rpc is to enjoy talking about characters you like with your friends.

for all its faults, i really am enjoying the kind of wild west "do what you want" vibe the rpc has (for the most part...) these days. i like that there isn't pressure to have good graphics or to format your writing. i like that there isn't one specific style everyone is expected to employ. i think this is what makes people who are hyper-vigilant about people "copying" them so ridiculous to me because like i don't think anyone cares enough to copy people these days and also so fucking what if they are? you're gonna flip shit because someone used the same font as you? what are you so afraid of? losing clout? tumblr rpc clout? that shit doesn't exist!!! which is what makes doing the copying just as fucking pathetic as being paranoid about copying. like there is no point to this hobby if you're not having fun and constantly stressing about your self image doesn't seem very fun to me, personally.

like i get it because i used to be super paranoid abt duplicates and all that shit but then i realized i don't care how many ppl enjoy my blog as long as i'm having fun with my friends. i don't care how many people dislike me as long as i'm having fun with my friends. if you are bringing an energy that is not conducive to me having fun with my friends you can fuck off <3 i've said this so many times but there is literally no benefit to being in the tumblr rpc other than personal enjoyment so people really need to stop treating it like it's a job and not literally the cringiest hobby you could be doing. i pray one day people will gain perspective because there is quite literally nothing more pathetic than running a friendship into the ground because you think tumblr rpc clout is real. in general, i think everyone needs to remember no one gives a fuck as much as they think they do and just do what they want forever. like if someone cares that much they probably don't have enough going on in their life and they should work on that, that is not your problem to deal with.
